I've been getting grey hairs since I was 21, If I don't dye it my hair will still be uniform dark but with a few noticeable greys. Always thought this was very young to get them, just interested to hear others' experiences

@SweatyChamoisPad

Will be 50 this June and don't have any - my hair is mousy blonde. My hairdresser said that mousey/dark blondes sometimes don't go grey, they just seem to go lighter.

My mum went grey around 40 years old, and my brother started even earlier, around 33. My dad only went grey when he started chemotherapy in his late 50s. Partner is 53 and blonde - he's lighter than me and has no grey in his hair, although a bit in his beard.

I’m the opposite. I was mousy-blonde when younger. As I’ve got older is got very dark. The hairdresser says it’s deemed ‘very dark blonde’ but to me it’s dark brown. Have literally 3 or 4 greys and I’m pushing 60.

Three days ago! (Early to mid forties). The hair I found was white the whole length. No sign of others though.

I got a few Grey's at 21, pulled them out and no more til in my early 30s. I'm 38 and have 4 that I can see. I've just left them.

Late teens, 18-19, but hair was permanently coloured, highlighted, lowlighted, permed etc. (it was the 80s Grin ). Stopped colouring it mid 40s and it is completely white now. Its bliss not to have to bother with root touch up every 3 weeks!

Pixies74 · 11/04/2022 15:05

I'm 39 and none so far...

Butwhhhyyyyyyy · 11/04/2022 15:08

I have a couple of grey hairs at the back recently, I am 49 with dark blonde hair.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 11/04/2022 15:32

I'm 38 and on Thursday I found about 20 that had appeared practically overnight! Proper silver ones! I amazoned hair dye rather quickly! I'm not ready to embrace it yet.

PeachMelba78 · 11/04/2022 15:37

12, and I now have a prominent and ever growing Mallen streak at the front of my head, as well as a good 50% everywhere else. I’m 44 now and much greyer/whiter than my sisters

minniep · 11/04/2022 15:46

Early 20s. It's really bad now and I am 45

Velvetbee · 11/04/2022 16:02

I have a few grey hairs now, I’m 53.

Simonjt · 11/04/2022 20:13

31, it started with a few greys on the sides, I’m now 34, its still pretty much limited to the sides but I have a lot now.

FourChimneys · 11/04/2022 20:15
  1. I've never had it dyed, I hate using unnecessary chemicals on my body.
DanielRicciardosSmile · 11/04/2022 20:21

SparkyTheCat · 11/04/2022 20:22

Early 20s. Now mid 40s and silver. This is normal for my family.

AnyCakeButBattenburg · 11/04/2022 20:25
  1. My natural colour was black, so I dyed it that until I was about 60. It was then looking quite harsh, so I went blonde and have kept it that (63 now)
ChocolateCakeYum · 11/04/2022 20:27

19

I’m 39 now. Still don’t have a full head of grey hair though. It’s in that inbetween stage so I dye it.

elephantbreathing · 11/04/2022 20:27

Another redhead here, now 62 and just a few odd greys appearing this last year or so. Nothing noticeable though.

Josette77 · 11/04/2022 20:27

I was 40

SouperNoodle · 11/04/2022 20:28

I found my first grey hair at 23. I'm nearing 32 and still don't have many.

Jerseymilkshake · 11/04/2022 20:29

Early 20s, I'm now 35 and have had to dye my hair regularly for the last 4/5 years.

I'm brunette and if I didn't dye it then I'd be really noticeably grey at my temples and along my parting.

fizzypop100 · 11/04/2022 20:43

None yet. I'm 50 and blonde

Sodie · 11/04/2022 20:46
  1. I have a solid white patch at the front (if I had a fringe it would be all white). I've just bleached my hair (apart from my white) and used bleach London fade to grey toner to blend it in.
DotBall · 11/04/2022 21:20

I’m nearly 55 with reasonably dark brown hair and don’t have a single grey hair. My mum, whose hair was a shade darker than mine, was going grey in her 20s and dyed her hair til she was early 60s. My dad was going grey in his 40s. Genetics is weird.

My hairdresser says she has 3 clients like me who are in their late 50s/60s with few greys. Am keeping my fingers crossed!

Grilledaubergines · 11/04/2022 21:32

I’m 47 and have the odd one here and there but I think the greyness will pick up pace soon!

Springhassprung86 · 11/04/2022 21:33

36 and I have none! Interesting because my two younger sisters have loads. I’m lucky!
