I've been getting grey hairs since I was 21, If I don't dye it my hair will still be uniform dark but with a few noticeable greys. Always thought this was very young to get them, just interested to hear others' experiences

I saw my first one at 39. Now I'm 53 and have a few around my parting, but nowhere else. My parents didn't start to go grey until their late 60s, so I guess it's genetic.

Chikapu · 11/04/2022 13:43

51 and I hate it.

toomanytwinkies · 11/04/2022 13:43

I think I was about 32? Although might have been earlier as I dye my hair so frequently, often before roots are visible so could have been earlier.

I got my first white hair in my eyebrow this year. I’m 35 😭

sarahc336 · 11/04/2022 13:44

First grey hair aged 18 but noticeably grey roots from around 30 I'd say xx

MedusasBadHairDay · 11/04/2022 13:44

Here's a question though, how come I seem to end up with hair that's grey from root to tip, when the rest of my hair is currently two different shades due to growing out dyed hair from 2 years ago? Surely it should be grey at the root then match my normal hair (dyed bit too) towards the end of the strand?

Otherpeoplesteens · 11/04/2022 13:45

12, comfortably before puberty.

steff13 · 11/04/2022 13:45

I started getting them mid 30s but at 45 I still only have a handful. My mother was completely salt and pepper by the time she was 30 years old.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/04/2022 13:46

I'm 61, I've had one or two white hairs for a few years but they are pretty much unnoticeable.

Lubeyboobyalt · 11/04/2022 13:48

27 with just a few here and there

now 42 and about 25% grey

nearlyspringyay · 11/04/2022 13:50
  1. I am 90 % grey now at 40. I don't dye it (allergies) and it's long so have avoided the badger stripe.
irregularegular · 11/04/2022 13:50

I'm 50 and only have a few. The first ones appeared quite a long time ago (40??? I'm not sure!) but the rate of increase is very slow!

Wavygravy1 · 11/04/2022 13:51

I’m 35 and don’t have any. My mum is 64 and only has a few!

irregularegular · 11/04/2022 13:54

At 17, to counter balance, I still don't have wrinkles aged 52.

Even 20 year olds have lines round their eyes!! What counts as "no wrinkles"?

SweatyChamoisPad · 11/04/2022 13:54

Will be 50 this June and don't have any - my hair is mousy blonde. My hairdresser said that mousey/dark blondes sometimes don't go grey, they just seem to go lighter.

My mum went grey around 40 years old, and my brother started even earlier, around 33. My dad only went grey when he started chemotherapy in his late 50s. Partner is 53 and blonde - he's lighter than me and has no grey in his hair, although a bit in his beard.

IFinallyJoinedNowWhat · 11/04/2022 14:02

Started going grey at 17 (one or two white hairs), now pushing 50 with tons more. Gave up dyeing it just before Covid arrived, so I think I would have ditched the dye then anyway. Now white/grey mix and proud! Wish I'd done it earlier tbh. Very freeing.

spidersenses · 11/04/2022 14:02

First one around 33. 48 now and probably have about 30 grey hairs as an estimate! They stand out as my hair is very dark

erinaceus · 11/04/2022 14:03

My mum's hair was silver from when she was about 19, so all the time that I knew her she had silver hair. I always thought this rather glamorous and that it would happen to me too but no. I still only get the odd one (I'm 37 now).

SadButTheTruth · 11/04/2022 14:08

@irregularegular so to me wrinkles are the lines that stay on your face when it is relaxed. They’re not laugh lines that appear around your mouth and eyes when you’re being expressive. I am 47 with no wrinkles, but I do look older in other ways - mostly the permanently pissed off expression on my face. No wrinkles doesn’t mean I have a weirdly smooth child like face, it just means there are no visible lines which are permanently there.

NaTTate · 11/04/2022 14:08

First few grey hairs when I was 11 or 12 (I had very dark hair so it was commented on at school). Very noticeably salt and pepper by the time I was early to mid twenties.

Ponderingwindow · 11/04/2022 14:14

I’m late 40s and I’ve found 1 grey hair, at least I think it was a grey hair. It had a slightly different texture. My hair is pretty light so it’s hard to tell just by color. I plucked it and haven’t had a recurrence.

oldtableleg · 11/04/2022 14:14

No grey at all 44 but at 46 I had enough to want to dye. About 5% I guess - I have very dark hair, if I was blonde I wouldn’t have bothered. Definitely more grey every year now!

HintofVintagePink · 11/04/2022 14:15

38 and get one or two at the front sometimes but no more than that.

NorthernSpirit · 11/04/2022 14:21

I had the odd grey hair early 40’s, by 48 I was 75% grey.

I used to go to a (very expensive Aveda salon) every 6 weeks to colour my hair. During lockdown I decided to grow the colour out and embrace the grey. When salons reopened I had my shoulder length hair chopped to a funky pixie cut. Now have no die and I love it!

I’ve never had so many compliments about my hair!

SVRT19674 · 11/04/2022 14:30

My brother in his 30s. I had 2 grey hairs in my thirties, but it has started to go mad since I got to 45. The front of my hair the back is still brown, just like my mum.

worriedatthistime · 11/04/2022 14:42

Early 40's mid 40's now and have a few but being mousy blonde they tend to blend on like highlights at the moment
A few of my friends have embraced the grey since lockdown and given up dying hair etc
