I've been getting grey hairs since I was 21, If I don't dye it my hair will still be uniform dark but with a few noticeable greys. Always thought this was very young to get them, just interested to hear others' experiences

Ohbuggeritsme · 11/04/2022 22:20

13 -.completely.grey by mid-20's and finally stopped colouring it about 4 years ago (now nearly 50), embracing the grey and loving it

elp30 · 11/04/2022 22:44

My natural jet-black hair started greying at age 18.
By age 40, it was over 50% white (not grey) and by 46, it was 75%.
I'm 51 and 95% white-haired.
I don't mind it.

WelshyMaud · 11/04/2022 22:46

I'm 35 and noticed my first 2 or 3 a few weeks ago. Not enough that I can be bothered to do anything about it though.

gogohm · 11/04/2022 22:48

Only in the last 3 years or so, I'm 48

33goingon64 · 11/04/2022 22:51

19

tearinghairout · 11/04/2022 22:53

I was 18. It's hereditary. My hair was very dark and now it's silver on top but darker underneath. I used to dye it but it never looked right. It looks great with a good cut, looks awful if I let it grow.

Boomerwang · 11/04/2022 22:59

About 36. I have a full on grey ring around my face now at 43.

Boomerwang · 11/04/2022 23:00

Sorry 42. I keep forgetting my age.

oliviastwisted · 11/04/2022 23:06

I have the odd one aged 45. I realised how blessed I was during covid.

LakieLady · 11/04/2022 23:09

A schoolfriend spotted a couple of grey hairs on my head when I was 16.

Profanisaurasrex · 11/04/2022 23:15

I was about 19 and died it from then until I was about 39, then grew it out. It’s all natural now and it’s 50/50 blonde and grey.

JaceLancs · 11/04/2022 23:19

35 ish

AlphaJura · 11/04/2022 23:23

I may have 1-2, I'm 42. I dye it silvery blond and when the roots grow out it's really dark. My dad didn't have any grey hair and he was in his 60s when he died. My mum had a few and was getting highlights but she's going back more to her natural colour (brunette) because she says it's going darker again. My grandad on my dad's side still had a full head of hair and half of it was black and he was in his 80s. So it must be hereditary.

SpookySpirit · 11/04/2022 23:27

29 I was and 14 years on if I didn't dye my hair I'd be full grey

707smile · 11/04/2022 23:37

I noticed a couple of grey hairs at 27, now early-mid 30s and still not noticeable apparently (I'm hoping that's the truth!). I tend to pluck the grey hairs out sometimes. I'm really hoping to get to 40 without going fully grey.

Member869894 · 11/04/2022 23:42

56 and none at all but I had red hair when I was younger and it's faded a lot now. I think I read somewhere that redheads dont go grey until much later in life

Catcrazy83 · 11/04/2022 23:46

29 the very first one, very rapid after that. Full head of colour to cover them since 34

MangyInseam · 11/04/2022 23:49

Late 20s for me. Then at about 40 I started to go really grey so roots would show if I didn't colour really regularly.

I think that with colouring so common we end up with a really skewed idea of when it's normal to go grey.

OhLordyWhatNow · 11/04/2022 23:52

I'm dark blonde and at 46 I found a hair that was pale/ colourless at the tip to about half the length and then got darker towards the root; so it obviously changed its mind and reverted 🤨

At 47 I found fully silver hairs but only one or two. Now at 49 my overall colour is still dark blonde with a single silvery hair mixed in at my right temple and a small patch (about 10) of silver hairs behind my right ear which are only noticeable if I wear my hair up.

I have always had very fine dead straight hair but the silver hairs seem thicker and have a wave. I'm oddly enjoying seeing the change.

SummerWillow · 11/04/2022 23:53

Redhead here - no greys or whites, age 54.

altforvarmt · 11/04/2022 23:54
