trib.al/ov5g0nj I can’t stand the throes but agree with this

Is it a mumsnet requirement to hate the conservatives and the daily mail with every fibre of your being and announce it at every opportunity?
I guess those of us who do vote Conservative keep quiet about it, but that's true everywhere and not just Mumsnet. Boris may be an absolute numpty in so many ways but he is absolutely right about this.

HomeHomeInTheRange · 06/04/2022 17:49

He’s right.

I just hope Starmer and crew don’t try and capitalise on this by shrieking ‘transphobia’ and ramping up the opposite view to get the blue haired vote.

CompassPoint · 06/04/2022 17:50

It does feel odd to agree with him on anything. I'll be voting conservative in the next election too.

ninnynonny · 06/04/2022 17:52

@ZaZathecat

There are more important issues at stake in the next election though, like not leaving the poor and vulnerable to starve.
I agree. It's galling to hear the Labour leader stumbling on this issue as he's worried about losing votes from the TWAW community, but at the same time, how can anyone watch what the Tories are doing to the poor and vulnerable in the country? Hate being so bloody torn
ivykaty44 · 06/04/2022 17:52

@Staffy1 I haven't voted tory since 1997 and that was long before I was on mumsnet.

This, surely.
Fireflygal · 06/04/2022 17:53

@Dogknowsbest, family changing rooms are an option but don't replace women's spaces.

You nay feel OK but safe spaces are needed for women especially in hospitals where they make feel extra vulnerable.

Stellaris22 · 06/04/2022 17:54

It's worrying that the cost of living crisis and everything the Tories have done to destroy peoples lives and shamelessly bend the rules for themselves can be so easily ignored.

Everyone has different priorities, but to vote for a party that has behaved appallingly and ignored people suffering with rising bills is hard to hear.

CompassPoint · 06/04/2022 17:54

Having spent time in family changing rooms with small kids and half naked men around, I'm not sure I understand why women get hung up on "maintaining female only spaces".

What about the many women (myself included) with trauma based reasons for wanting female only spaces? What about the women who would be excluded for religious based reasons if certain spaces weren't female only?

ivykaty44 · 06/04/2022 17:55

It is after years, decades of improving woman's sport - I don't want to see it decimated by allowing mixed events.

It was curios that people weren't allowed to race at derby velodrome last weekend, had they would there have been very different results?

@Auntieobem

Me too. Not a comfortable place to be in.
Agreeing on certain issues is not the same as sharing values or behaviour.

This falls into the trope that TRAs trot out : that being GC is one and the same as being a swivel eyed right wing fundamentalist Westboro Baptist type because on some aspects of one issue there is agreement.

I will never vote Tory, and certainly not for this corrupt apology for a government, but I have no qualms at all saying ‘he’s right. Listen up, whatever your other politics’.

pigsDOfly · 06/04/2022 17:57

@Riverlee

Well, that’s a opening title I never thought I’d see on mumsnet!
Yep, never thought I see such a title and never thought I agree with Boris Johnson either but I suppose there's a first time for everything.

Can't stand the man tbh but in this instance he's absolutely right. And I'm pleased he's willing to come out and say it.

Maybe he's a MNer and is trying to harness some viper votes.

What about women who are incarcerated in prison?
KeepYaHeadUp · 06/04/2022 17:58

@AtrociousCircumstance

Have always hated the Tories.

But I agree with Boris and thank god someone in politics is beginning to stand up for women’s rights.

I was a life long Labour voter before Labour betrayed women. And Lib Dems are just as bad.

Is he standing up for women's rights though? Or saying the right thing in this very specific instance?
JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 06/04/2022 17:59

Never thought the day would come but me too.......

Might need therapy to get over the trauma

KeepYaHeadUp · 06/04/2022 17:59

@Lockheart

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Still not voting for the Tories.

This!

@ZaZathecat

This.

And, of course, there’s the small matter of his habitual lying and saying anything if he thinks there’s a vote in it.

StormzyinaTCup · 06/04/2022 18:02

It will be interesting to see what Labour do now. If they do a full about turn on this and acknowledge biology will they be serious or will it just be backtracking and hot air for votes. May be they will try and take the fence sitting approach again (an approach that worked so well at the last election - not).

hattie43 · 06/04/2022 18:02

Me too

sweetheartyparty · 06/04/2022 18:03

Even a stopped ckock is right twice a day. He's still a disgrace

Stellaris22 · 06/04/2022 18:03

This reeks of just wanting the MN vote and wouldn't believe a word he says. Since when has he ever told the truth? Just trying to divert attention away from the cost of living crisis and things like fracking.

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 06/04/2022 18:04

Me too. Can't stand him though.

Bickles · 06/04/2022 18:04

He’s right on this one.

CompassPoint · 06/04/2022 18:05

What about women who are incarcerated in prison?

Yes, absolutely Dinosauria, they are some of the most vulnerable and voiceless of all in society, and keeping womens' prisons single sex is utterly crucial to their safety, health and dignity.

Universe1969 · 06/04/2022 18:06

Labour hate women. It’s a shit show
