To be finished with voting Tory

I've voted Tory in the last couple of elections. Didn't like Corbyn and thought Keir Stammer was a bit feeble. But after that smug performance by Sunak I am totally not going to vote Tory for a very long time. We are now in a position not to be affected too much by recent rises. Not always been that way of course. I wonder if others are feeling the same. But the lack of any sort of help for less well off people makes me absolutely sick. And all decided by a multi millionaire.

The obsession with more money for the extremely rich at the expense of everything and everyone else is what's destroying this country.

That and the batshit crazy and undemocratic FPTP system.
Only 2 nations in the developed world use it afaik : Britain and the USA.

Apparently not

Can I ask about the private ambulance if you don't mind.
Did they blue light you or blue light to get to you? I'm curious as to how that works. So if I was a medic, could I just buy myself an old ambulance and set up my own private ambulance service allowing me to use blue lights to overrule normal traffic laws? I don't expect you to know the answer to this, but somebody else might.

They did use the blue light for one of my other trips to an appointment with a consultant at Homerton Hospital because they were running late due to traffic. It looked like every other ambulance I've ever seen from the outside and they had medical equipment and two paramedics on board. Most of their jobs come from the NHS because a lot of trusts don't actually own their own fleet anymore. The paramedics were complaining that they pay through the nose for each trip and it would have been cheaper if they were allowed to keep the service in house but I guess someone in management decided to prioritise getting a short term windfall. The company I used was Harley Street Ambulance Service.

By the way the £450 included only a one hour wait time. If the wait time goes over that they charge by the hour and this was a year ago so they may have raised prices since.

OP did say developed world which would shrink that list a bit.
Many are former UK colonies.
It's still an outdated basthiit system for elections.

Batshit

TooBored1 · 22/04/2023 14:05

You were unreasonable to vote Tory just because you didn't like the labour leaders. Is personality all you go by? Not policies, ethics etc?

Are you really saying that you liked Boris more???? No other party you could have chosen instead?

Under the first past the post system a vote for any other party is wasted so there are only two choices really.

ChaToilLeam · 22/04/2023 14:25

You were unreasonable to vote for them in the first place. You and everyone else who did.

TimeToChange111 · 22/04/2023 14:28

YABU for ever voting Tory.

TooBigForMyBoots · 22/04/2023 14:37

I'm glad you've copped on @Viviennemary. The penny will drop for most people before the next GE.

That isn’t true. In marginal seats votes for any party can be crucial. Why do you think UKIP didn’t field candidates in 2019 seats where they’d have let Labour in by splitting the right wing vote?

Kendodd · 22/04/2023 16:31

Also, I think 'first past the post' is a bad name for it. It should be described as a 'winner takes all' system because that's what it is.

@Pixiedust1234

I've never voted tory but right now they are the only party that knows what a woman is biologically. Since rapists are being put into womens prisons and womens hospital wards now is the time to say #nothankyou, not #bekind. Its shit tbh
This.

I’m thinking of abstaining as I won’t vote Conservative but can’t bring myself to vote Labour as I don’t understand how can they defend my rights when they can’t actually tell me what I am. It’s an utter shitshow at the minute.

By abstaining you achieve nothing. You are being apathetic in their eyes so the main parties don't get the message to change .By voting tactically you can send the message to those people and changes can happen.

ChristmasFluff · 22/04/2023 17:10

Every one of you who voted Tory have no right to whinge. You always knew they were 'us against them' - you just didn't realise you were part of the 'them'.

malificent7 · 22/04/2023 18:02

Yabu because they have always been like this and YOU voted for them!

Or as I prefer to call it "an anachronistic batshit pile of wank that onlyy persists because it suits big parties, mostly the Tories"
