To be finished with voting Tory

Viviennemary · 03/04/2022 16:47

I've voted Tory in the last couple of elections. Didn't like Corbyn and thought Keir Stammer was a bit feeble. But after that smug performance by Sunak I am totally not going to vote Tory for a very long time. We are now in a position not to be affected too much by recent rises. Not always been that way of course. I wonder if others are feeling the same. But the lack of any sort of help for less well off people makes me absolutely sick. And all decided by a multi millionaire.

Bit late to the party OP.

Unless you happen to be rich as Croesus its unlikely the conservative party will put your needs front & centre.

Also I doubt very much that you are a true blue, those tend never to use the word "tory" Grin

Cakeandcardio · 03/04/2022 18:08

Bit surprised anyone would vote Tory. It really says a lot about a person. "I'm alright to fuck with everyone else". If you voted for personality then that's even worse.

StoneofDestiny · 03/04/2022 18:12

I've never voted Tory - beggars belief anybody thought Johnson was a fit and proper person to rule a country. He still won't put himself up to scrutiny by any capable interviewer - says it all.
Off autocue, we get Peppa Pig.

Pixiedust1234 · 03/04/2022 18:39

For those of you quoting me. I am well aware it seems weird that this happened under tory rule, but it would have happened under any party since the policy was underhand and sneakily brought in through a backdoor by activists and nobody understanding what it actually meant for women. Now we are finding out its time to turn the tide back. The only way that will happen is by NOT voting in any party that doesn't understand what a woman is or why she might not want a male near her when she is vulnerable. Many people are not aware of what is happening behind the political scenes (I wasnt). Go into the scary feminism boards and start reading about the recent court trials. I won't be responding to any more posts. Do your own due diligence, I have pointed the way Smile

Seeing as this happened under the conservatives, what are they doing to address and reverse it?
hulahooper2 · 03/04/2022 18:43

I don’t understand why anyone ever voted for them

AllOfUsAreDead · 03/04/2022 18:45

@Pixiedust1234

I've never voted tory but right now they are the only party that knows what a woman is biologically. Since rapists are being put into womens prisons and womens hospital wards now is the time to say #nothankyou, not #bekind. Its shit tbh
Really? Johnson doesn't agree that women have a cervix. That's the mind of Britain that you're voting for. Hmm
quitefranklyabsurd · 03/04/2022 18:47

There’s not been a general election since Starmer became leader of the labour party and unless you live in his constituency you cant vote for him (you may do so happy to stand corrected.

This huge misunderstanding that you vote for the party leader is so worrying.

You vote for your mp/Cllrs (be they borough/town/city ect) but only party members actually get to elect the party leader.

But yes - in all of that - dont vote Tory. Ever.

TheMerrickBoy · 03/04/2022 18:50

Well, I'd say you were unreasonable to do it in the first place, and a bit daft to only realise now what Johnson is - it was there in plain sight. But yeah, glad you're not going to any more.

Dinoasaurme · 03/04/2022 18:54

Then stop voting for individuals and whether or not you think they are “nice” or not - and start scrutinising policies

This ^

DogsAndGin · 03/04/2022 18:55

I have previously voted Tory, but not in the last election (absolutely no chance I’d vote for that sexist misogynistic arse), and never again. I don’t fancy any of the other parties either.

Awalkintime · 03/04/2022 18:56

Labour or Conservatives at the moment are both a shower of shite and neither care about issues that need sorting.

Darbs76 · 03/04/2022 18:57

Never voted Tory. Grew up in North Wales in a strong labour seat. Moved to Surrey in my mid 20’s for work, so into a very blue area. I’m thankfully not in a position now whereby the fuel rises affect me as much as they do others but I could never ever bring myself to vote Tory. I was horrified the Tories nearly got in in my old home town, this was pre covid etc, I doubt they would now but I don’t understand what anyone in the town thinks Tories will do for them. I might now fit more into a Tory voter income etc but no, no, and no. Never

skippy67 · 03/04/2022 19:03

Never have, never will vote Tory. So YABU.

skippy67 · 03/04/2022 19:03

🙄
Jessasamantha · 03/04/2022 19:05

I always knew that the Tories didn't care about poor or vulnerable people, but I don't think it's ever been so blatant. They are not even pretending to care. Not even pretending that they are trying to do anything about this crisis that will see people starve or freeze to death, on their watch. I don't know how any of them sleep at night.

Then they insult us instead with their multi millionaire Chancellor of the Exchequer who has never known and will never know a day's hunger, cold or poverty in his life, standing on TV and telling us all how fucked we are before he returns to his mansion to switch the heating on and quaff champagne. We are on our own.

Tillymintpolo · 03/04/2022 19:07

The Tories couldn’t give a flying fuck about women’s safety

BoodleBug51 · 03/04/2022 19:07

We face a shitshow whichever party is in power.

Awalkintime · 03/04/2022 19:11

@BoodleBug51

Completely agree.

It's the Conservatives who have been in Government for 12 long years.

It is the Conservatives who have presided over this appalling breach of women's rights and girls' safety.

It is Conservative MPs like Blunt, Nokes, Mordaunt and Miller who are full steam ahead for self-ID if they get the chance.

Yes Labour are bloody disappointing and disgusting on this; but the Tories are the ones in charge.

Snoozysnoozy · 03/04/2022 19:12

"This is what YOU voted for. Miserable life's for everyone and grannies freezing to death."

You know that's not specifically what people voted for, right? They didn't cast their ballot thinking "well that's some more poor people dead" and you can't prove to me that any other party would've done any better given the current circumstances

shiningstar2 · 03/04/2022 19:13

I feel as Darba 76 does about the Tories.
I feel as Pixiedust 1234 does about Labour. I have never been so lost politically. I will always go to the poll but, just as some people put in a protest vote at by elections against the party they normally vote for, I think my protest at the next election will be to destroy my paper. This will be the first time in my life I will have done this, and I am coming up for 70 years of age.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 03/04/2022 19:16

Well any party that is as openly corrupt as the Torys, literally robbing taxpayers to funnel money to their rich cronies should be out on their arse by morning IMO

SilverGlitterBaubles · 03/04/2022 19:18

This. I am still astonished that Boris Johnson is actually running the country.
EngTech · 03/04/2022 19:18

People vote for whoever they feel will make them have more money in their pocket

Also whoever they think is the least worse 😳😳

I would prefer a “None of the above” box on the ballot paper 👍👍
