Life is pretty shit for a lot of people

On a low wage. Living with parents. Paying £700 a month on childcare even with 30 free hours. Might have to get rid of my car. I have a strict budget and don't buy unnecessary junk. Will likely never be able to afford a house. Rent and bills extortionate and no prospect of me moving out any time soon. If I was renting I'd be screwed. Trying to get promoted at work but cost of living has driven job applications sky high so too competitive. I just wonder what the point is sometimes. I'm so worried about the future and money. Son going to school will help but I'm left with almost £40 which I pathetically save at the moment and £700 definitely won't cover rent and bills. Its actually making me unwell to think about... Anyone else?

@lollipoprainbow I didn’t realise people only get nice parents if they don’t go around agreeing with 100% of peoples opinions 100% of the time.

@Nothappyatwork

But it’s already like that *@Maverickess* you already have the majority working in roles they aren’t suited for with the odd diamond. Personally I think it should only be a role that’s available to the degree qualified, to actual nursing staff but that’s gone down the toilet already.
And then what do you think the cost would be? You need a degree to wipe someone’s arse? Seriously?
Maverickess · 03/04/2022 23:18

Thing is @Blossomtoes, it's actually a lot more than wiping someone's arse that's required now in care work - but the belief that wiping arses and making cups of tea is all we do keeps society thinking we're not worth any more money and can't be intelligent/bothered/inspired enough to do any better, and yes there are some who are like that, and then some that aren't, and do the training - but you get nothing, no pay increase, there's very little ladder to climb anyway and the pay increment for senior are a joke.
I get 13p more an hour than someone on nmw and I have almost 20 years experience and a fair few qualifications, and someone with the same experience/qualifications as me but who isn't a senior (because they've done away with the senior role now) is on nmw, the same as someone with no experience or qualifications.
It's not that people can't be bothered, but I kind of wish I hadn't put all that work in - where's it got me? I'm still judged by others as being uninspired/lazy and anything else they can think of because of what I earn - not what I do or have done.

@Maverickess, believe me I know. People like you cared for my mum, they were amazing and I’ll be forever grateful to them. The amount care workers are paid is an absolute scandal. It was really the suggestion that you need a degree I was taking issue with.

@RussianSpy101 look up the ‘just world’ belief system and start counting your blessings instead of knocking other people.

Yet you wasn't Wiping your own mothers arse.... why wasn't you looking after your own?

Why rely on someone else to do it. It's so skillless right and you don't need a degree you should of looked after your own mother Blush
