  • Sensible
  • Sensible clothing
  • Frugal with money
  • Disapproving of trivialities, such as spending too much on Christmas presents or cosmetics
  • Assertive
  • Will say 'no' for the sake of it sometimes
  • Uncompromising
  • Very high expectations in relationships
  • Intelligent

Any others?

A hairy handed troll posting nonsense surrounded by overflowing ashtrays and empty pizza boxes.

DemelzaandRoss · 31/03/2022 14:27

Obsessed with boundaries
Wears Hobbs classic dresses
Has 3 children all at fee paying school
Children are regulated by strict routine every day
Husband also regulated.
Hates MIL unless she has signed a book of rules.

Pretends never to swear but secretly utters every profanity ever invented
Ensures children mix with naice friends at all times
Adds spinach & lentils to all meals

PeeAche2 · 31/03/2022 14:45

Reading all of these, I have never been so relieved to be overweight! 🤦🏻‍♀️😅

Blackmagicqueen · 31/03/2022 14:50

I'd imagine these mumsnetters as right wing and supporting the shambles of a government we have currently.

Clockstooforward · 31/03/2022 14:51

@CowboyFromHell

- Lives ‘very rurally’
  • Would describe her and her husband as ‘comfortable’. Where comfortable means owning at least one additional property that is rented out, and have an ‘investment portfolio’
  • Her two primary-aged children have blond hair and attend a local private school. On mumsnet she refers to the school as an ‘Indie’ in an attempt to make it sound friendly and welcoming (rather an elitist institution which is entrenching inequality)
  • Is militant about the amount of sugar her kids eat, but less so about the amount of sugar in her glasses of wine.
Oh god …my exact thoughts 😂
LuckySantangelo35 · 31/03/2022 14:55

Yeah everyone lives “very rurally” often don’t drive either. Given how built up the uk is, I just can’t see how it’s possible for so many to be living very rurally!

BigWoollyJumpers · 31/03/2022 14:59

Anyone reading any of these, and thinking, FUCK! That's me! Grin.

BigWoollyJumpers · 31/03/2022 15:00

Is there a thread for what we are ACTUALLY all like?

Would anyone tell the complete truth??

FrecklesMalone · 31/03/2022 15:01

I imagine quite a plump, middle aged woman. Who has quite a good career but fucked it up a bit by the kids. Used to be a bit left wing when it was Blair but then he turned out to be a bit of a bugger with the war. Quite pleased that now it might be OK to vote Tory because of the Trans thing and secretly it will help them out taxwise. Think it is terrible about the cost of living but thank the fuck that it won't affect the holiday to Antigua which they SO deserve because Peter worked very hard to get where he has (the minor public school education, Fails connections and being white middle-class were not the reason) and the holiday in Cornwall last year was fine but not a real holiday.

Not sure if there is but I'm willing to start one if anyone's interested. I'm happy to be honest about myself but I wonder how many others are?
midsomermurderess · 31/03/2022 15:22

I think anxious, neurotic, needing approval/validation, worried about their social standing, what class they are perceived to be, and more than likely in some kind of teaching or health care role, loving nothing more than, is this a safeguarding issue, or would you (eat this, let your 15-year-old do that, wear the other, prone to fainting at the merest hint of white on a guest's dress for a wedding).

bettertocryinamercedes · 31/03/2022 15:46

ThatsNotItAtAll · 31/03/2022 15:50

A higher percentage of Scottish women must be MNers than any other nationality I believe.

SpringsSprung · 31/03/2022 16:35

@Chestnut23

Lives in a new build made of Sandy coloured brick, with a sloped lawn at the front
Well this is me! 👋 🙋🏼‍♀️ Howdy! (Except front garden not sloped)
AffIt · 31/03/2022 16:43

I used to think I was a bit of an MN outlier (came here by accident when Googling for tips to deal with a stinky washing machine), but I'm also sort of not:

Signs That I Am Not An MNer:

  • Childfree
  • Scottish
  • Long, wild curly hair over the age of 40
  • Has an OH who is my best friend and I probably won't LTB even if he leaves teabags in the sink
  • Reads the FT (when I can be bothered), rather than the Guardian or the Daily Mail
  • Gets on with and actually quite likes my PILs
  • Owns and uses a toilet brush
  • Likes dogs

Signs That I Might Possibly Be An MNer:

  • Am over 40
  • Earns the fabled six-figure salary working from home
  • Likes stripy clothes, often purchased from Fat Face / White Stuff (not Boden or Joules, though: have stupid long limbs and they don't fit)
  • Doesn't like opening the door or answering unsolicited phone calls
  • Likes dogs
AffIt · 31/03/2022 16:44

75% of users in full-time or part-time employment
78% of users are aged between 26-45
91% of users have children

Drink too much gin
Sniff lots of glue
Know Latin

I think 75% being in some kind of employment is quite a generous prediction!
GormenghastWhat · 31/03/2022 17:04

Should have said those stats are from MN advertising demographics- they are not my glue / gin addled brain musings!

She was the student at university who 'couldn't afford this' and 'couldn't afford that', despite coming from money.

Thinks drinking alcohol is immature past the age of 20.
Wears mom jeans, white trainers and very long cardigans in spring.
Likes cats.
Dislikes dogs.
Wouldn’t say boo to a goose.
Feels inadequate around women who challenge them in any way
Barely there makeup
Has at least one pension pot
Always gets hair coloured and cut - most likely blonde

Or
Like a prison warden in brown clothes
