  • Sensible
  • Sensible clothing
  • Frugal with money
  • Disapproving of trivialities, such as spending too much on Christmas presents or cosmetics
  • Assertive
  • Will say 'no' for the sake of it sometimes
  • Uncompromising
  • Very high expectations in relationships
  • Intelligent

Any others?

Pursed lips
It’s the fillers Wink

@SafeMove

Or more like they 'seem' alive, safe and healthy. I can only go on what people post and that might not be the whole truth, I know!
Ah, I misunderstood. I thought you meant idyllic from a parental viewpoint. Certainly their childhoods seem idyllic when compared to many others.
thatsgotit · 01/04/2022 14:21

In her 30s or 40s.
Earns £40k+ and would never dream of not working full time.
Has a degree.
Middle class through and through, even if she didn't start out that way.
Lives in the Home Counties and has possibly never been to 'the North'. If not from 'the North', thinks of 'the North' as one big amorphous mass with no culture.
If from 'the North', is very proud of the fact that she 'got away'.
Classic baggy, shapeless- clothes only, and definitely no high heels, piercings or tattoos, 'unless you want to look ridiculous, in which case crack on OP.'
Extrovert. Introverts are just doing it for the attention.
Married, and if her marriage were to end, wouldn't date again until the DC were at least 35. Second wives/partners have no rights and basically shouldn't exist.
Baffled by the notion that adults would want their birthdays marked in some way. What are they, 12?
Partner does at least 50% of the chores otherwise (ideally most of them) otherwise she'd LTB immediately.
Owns a dog. Dog must be allowed everywhere at all times.
All walls painted with Farrow & Ball.
Has only ever had sex in a loving committed heterosexual vanilla relationship, casual/no-strings/kinky/FWB sex being 'grim' and a sign of having no self-respect.
Cooks everything from scratch and 'can't think of anyone she knows who doesn't.'
Size 12 at the most. If size 12, probably thinks she's fat.
Ten thousand steps is a minimum, in fact there's really no excuse for not doing a 10k before breakfast.
Judgey about alcohol consumption.
Blocks friends if they happen to look at her the wrong way.
Scared of germs and bodily fluids. Puts knickers straight back on after sex.

Also: husband has a very outing hobby.

BigWoollyJumpers · 01/04/2022 14:59

I think there are more 50+ women here than presented. Lots of traffic on Higher Education boards and Menopause boards. Also lots of "back in my day" anecdotes, which are roundly condemned by the younger cohort, particularly in childcare issues.

And it's invariably cycling
Oilyoilyoilgob · 01/04/2022 21:50

@deadlanguage that’s actually another one, most threads about injectables I read are met mostly with disdain and people saying they wash their face with water and bunched up newspaper and don’t look a day over 18 and would NEVER get anything done.

I’m imaging the pursed lips brigade again Grin

I read loads of threads and think so many posters sound so uptight. I imagine them all with cats bums mouth 😁

EinsteinaGogo · 01/04/2022 21:59

Well I'm 50+ in the South East, and been wasting too much time on MN for more than a decade, and don't think I'm unique.

PeacheyPeach · 01/04/2022 22:21

Has two children, hubby plays golf, has regular meet ups with "the girls" is very neat and wears a lots of Seasalt and joules. Gives a white company candle as a present!!

FairyLightPups · 01/04/2022 22:28

Upper middle class, rigid in beliefs, assertive, mid 30s +, quite judgy, has a high income, hates dogs, goes running, has a useless husband.

FairyLightPups · 01/04/2022 22:28

Oh yes and boden

Yes I do think the average age of a MNetter is about 55. I think a lot of posters on this site don't realise this.

According to a poster who shared the actual statistics, 78% of users are between 26 and 45.

But they have never asked for ages- so how do they know that ?
VampireMoney · 01/04/2022 23:56

@TheHoptimist I'm assuming it's data gathered from the Mumsnet surveys. There's always some kind of survey on here offering vouchers if you take part.

707smile · 02/04/2022 00:35

Skinny (size 8-10) but thinks she needs to lose a few pounds- barely eats and likes competitive undereating.
Wealthy / inherited wealth and huge income- holidays in exotic locations
Privately educated and works in a professional role
Wears Joules or Boden
Has no concept of how the rest of the UK lives!

Procrastination4 · 02/04/2022 01:05

@tiddlywinks2
That flipping penis beaker post was the one that first brought me to Mumsnet and started my addiction!Blush

AuntTwacky · 02/04/2022 01:18

Will have ducks in a row, no head wobble and v clean toilet

Stonerosie67 · 02/04/2022 01:26

. Refuses to answer the door
. Hates her in-laws
. Only interested in her 'little family'
. Eats three raisins and half an ounce of organic granola for breakfast and is 'stuffed' for the rest of the day
. Makes seventeen meals out of one organic chicken
. Changes the bedding every day, twice on a Sunday
. Puts a towel down on the bed then lays very carefully on it when she has sex to avoid any residue
. Goes NC with the in-laws for daring to buy their DC an Easter egg
. Has a vast collection of balls from next door that she refuses to throw back
. Sees her own mother every single day as they are 'incredibly close' but threatens to LTB if her husband wants to see his mother
.

Mumsnetters do seem to fall into two categories...

-The well off with very left leaning and liberal views (It's so much easier to be liberal and left leaning when you're financially insulated from the realities of life)

-The typical piss takers who take advantage of the benefits system who are beloved by the above-mentioned.

I thought this was supposed to be a lighthearted post, written with very poor taste.
Ridiculously presumptuous post all the same.
Some folk eh? So narrow minded.
Wink

JudgeJ · 02/04/2022 12:11

@Onlyforcake

Actually I suspect more than half don't meet their own exacting standards Grin
Surely you are not implying that some MNers tell porkies? How very dare you!

But it's the oldies like me, 74, who can really bugger up the statistics!
Blueeyedgirl21 · 02/04/2022 23:26

@Stonerosie67 omg yes, type of person that pops a football with a pair of scissors if it comes into her garden 😂 or phones police if a neighbour has music playing at 8pm - especially if it’s ‘terrible’ ie. Not the one genre of music she finds acceptable
