When roll ons and sticks are more effective, more economical (all the product goes where it is meant to rather than half of it going into the air around you) less polluting and less irritating to the lungs? Seems like a no brainer to me.

@PinaColada123456

Yep Sceptre86 I don't know anyone who has time to put on body lotion and face moisturiser all before getting dressed. Maybe the OP doesn't have children? Even before I had children I never had the time to do all that. A waste of time imo.
Taking appropriate care of your skin isn’t a waste of time, I have two children, why would that stop me taking basic care of myself?
Quackpot · 16/03/2022 21:25

@DetailMouse I was taking the piss lol

AWOL66 · 17/03/2022 17:46

All roll ons have a cheap perfume scent I smell later in the day. Sprays are in aluminium bottles which is infitely recyclable unlike plastic which only can be recycled a couple of times. CFCs were banned in 1989.

themagicnumberthree · 17/03/2022 17:55

Well I've always been a sweaty beast, more so since peri so I apply aerosol as extra once my roll on has dried. Top up with spray through the day if it's particularly warm, stressful or if I have an exercise class

PandoraRocks · 17/03/2022 17:55

Because life is too short to stand there fanning my armpits, especially in the Summer. Roll ons take ages to dry.

musicviking1 · 17/03/2022 18:02

I love using rolls on now, I have sensitive airways so hate the sprays.

BooneyBeautiful · 17/03/2022 18:02

@luxxlisbon

I don’t find roll on more effective, it’s all tacky and gross feeling.
I agree. My adult DS uses a stick but only when he is actually putting his top on, so it isn't dry and doesn't work very effectively. He ends up with sweaty armpits. I then have to spray the armpits of his clothes with white vinegar before putting them in the wash as otherwise the smell of stale sweat doesn't go away.
Everhopeful1 · 17/03/2022 18:03

I use Aldi cheapy roll on 59p ish, after years of coughing like a smoker using a spray in my small bathroom. As good as Sure & dries very quickly. Deo is dry by the time earrings, socks, pants & bra is on.

FeeLock · 17/03/2022 18:05

I've used a salt deodorant for years - you can get them in health food shops, I expect. I get mine from my local health food co-operative. They stop the bacteria from hanging around, and it's their waste products that smell. I'm quite sporty and have never had a problem ,and they last for ages.

elbea · 17/03/2022 18:08

@AWOL66 CFC were replaced with VOCs which are just as bad for the environment

tiredanddangerous · 17/03/2022 18:09

Because roll ons are sticky and horrible

Mirw · 17/03/2022 18:09

I can't use roll ons or sticks due to disability.

XenoBitch · 17/03/2022 18:11

I would not say sticks are more economical. The only ones that work on me are the 96hr ones you put on at night, and they are not cheap!
I find roll ons never dry properly and don't work.
Like a few folk, I top up in the day with a spray one (a man one too).
My pits sweat buckets anyway.

katieg03 · 17/03/2022 18:15

I find it sticky. I don't feel as fresh. So I guess you don't use perfume then since sprays pollute the air in your home?

Hayder · 17/03/2022 18:16

Any type of roll on causes a massive skin reaction. I can only use a select few spray ons also. Dove spray is a safe option for me.

liveforsummer · 17/03/2022 18:22

I don't have time to put on body lotion in the mornings and I don't have time to wait for cream or liquid deodorants to dry.

Mumsnet has been a real eye opener on how people go thorough life not realising peoples situations are different and simply that they like different things. It's the sort of self centred thinking that children usually grow out of around ages 7. I prefer spray but I don't puzzle over why some wear cream. It works for them 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lem1984 · 17/03/2022 18:24

@CounsellorTroi I have three children and I always do the routine you say, although I do use spray. I also apply some makeup every morning and look presentable, make 5 breakfasts, 5 packed lunches and leave the house in a reasonable state of tidiness Grin

Feeascotime · 17/03/2022 18:29

I find them sticky and they seem to trap sweat and smell unpleasant. They also leave residue on my clothes at the armpits.

Lovely13 · 17/03/2022 18:30

I dry roll-on with hairdryer. Works fine

TheSoapyFrog · 17/03/2022 18:34

I use spray ons because roll ons take too long to dry, I hate the feeling of them, and I don't find them as effective. I haven't got time to fanny about every morning moisturising myself and waiting for a deodorant to dry.
And they leave white marks on clothes.

CounsellorTroi · 17/03/2022 18:35

Very rarely, if I’m going out out.

Someone came on the tube and sprayed themselves with some awful smelling lynx type deodorant during Covid. I didn’t realise the particles had stuck to my mask and started chocking and had an asthma attack. They’re rank.

mizzo · 17/03/2022 18:40

I can't use roll on daily as shave my armpits and roll on stings like mad and causes a rash if they're newly shaved.
I use perspirex every three days and spray in between, anything less and I stink. I barely used to need deodorant until I had DC.
The perspirex takes ages to dry, and even longer if you put your arms down to brush your teeth or whatever.

SquirrelG · 17/03/2022 18:59

I use a stick, but would far rather use a spray deodorant than a roll on, which I find messy.

sherbertdib · 17/03/2022 19:10

I haven't used a roll on since the 90s

Have they improved?
