To ask why people use spray deodorants

When roll ons and sticks are more effective, more economical (all the product goes where it is meant to rather than half of it going into the air around you) less polluting and less irritating to the lungs? Seems like a no brainer to me.

I use both

Rinatinabina · 16/03/2022 17:43

I used to use spray deodorant but discovered i like roll ons better, spent some time wafting my armpits but I’m used to it now. I think before it was a time thing, I do need do allow it to dry before I out my clothes on.

WutheringHeights66 · 16/03/2022 17:43

I used to love a roll on with Sure came in glass bottles. It dried really quickly and was very effective. I stopped using it when they changed the recipe and put it in plastic as it was sticky and took ages to dry.

I rarely use deodorant these days as I don't sweat much, but when I do I admit I prefer a nice Mitchum spray. A can lasts me months.

BurnDownTheDiscoHangTheDJ · 16/03/2022 17:53

Because I’ve never found one that worked. I have to use mens Micham all year round and in summer I add a cream thing from the chemist for especially stinky people. I’m not especially sweaty generally but my pits sweat like mad and it all gets very smelly very quickly if I don’t use an aerosol.

LemonDrizzles · 16/03/2022 18:03

I wear a lot of long black tight fitting dresses and every roll on I have ever tried leaves white lines everywhere on the dress.... But happy to try a brand that does not do this

chanceux · 16/03/2022 18:09

@WutheringHeights66 I remember Sure in the glass bottle. I think they stopped putting alcohol in it when it switched to the plastic bottles and became useless. Stung like crazy after shaving didn't it 😂

jamandmarmaladeoncrumpets · 16/03/2022 18:15

@LottyD32

Pitrok is where its at, I can't remember how long ago I bought it. Kerching 💰💰💰
exactly
NatriumChloride · 16/03/2022 18:27

Stupid goady thread. 🙄

Rosesareyellow · 16/03/2022 18:34

I use a roll on after a shower and a spray if I want to just freshen up a bit. I wouldn’t want to use a roll on if I wasn’t just squeaky clean out of the shower or bath. The roll on lasts so much longer though even though I use it way more often. I don’t use the ‘wet’ ones that need a bit of drying time, like Dove, I use the sort of pastey ones like Sure or Nivea.

Rosesareyellow · 16/03/2022 18:37

I don’t know why people think this if goady Confused I’m currently down with Covid, feeling like shit and it’s just the kind of inane debate I was after to distract myself Grin

Trinacham · 16/03/2022 18:38

Because I don't find roll ons effective for me, I've tried them..

PinaColada123456 · 16/03/2022 18:39

YABU I don't think roll ons are very hygienic. Think about it; if you need to touch up after you've been sweating and are stinky, you are transferring that stink and bacteria from your armpits onto the roll on. Sprays are more hygienic and tend to be of better quality. I don't know why people would choose roll ons tbh. They just don't work as well as sprays and harbour germs.

Sceptre86 · 16/03/2022 18:39

I have a 5 minute shower before the baby starts screaming, I haven't got time for body lotion etc unless I bathe in the evening. I haven't used a roll on since I was 10 and I disliked them then, they took too long to dry and felt sticky. Maybe they are better now? I use a right guard deodarant and feel instantly fresh.

PinaColada123456 · 16/03/2022 18:42

Also I like that the sprays linger on in the air in the room so doubles as a room deodoriser. Win win.

Norgie · 16/03/2022 18:43

Because I can.

maddy68 · 16/03/2022 18:44

i hate the wet feeling of a roll on and i never find them very effective

PinaColada123456 · 16/03/2022 18:45

Yep Sceptre86 I don't know anyone who has time to put on body lotion and face moisturiser all before getting dressed. Maybe the OP doesn't have children? Even before I had children I never had the time to do all that. A waste of time imo.

Sparkletastic · 16/03/2022 18:46

Because they work and the others don't

Gizacluethen · 16/03/2022 18:47

I like that I can feel the roll on when I put it on. I used to miss with aerosols sometimes 🤣 they suffocate me though (asthma) so roll ons in this house.

Jk987 · 16/03/2022 19:01

Sure Fast Dry roll on is a game changer!

Katkinsgreyy · 16/03/2022 19:21

I sometimes use a night time roll on deodorant.
Wash it off in the morning and it stops me sweating for about a week!

Then just everyday deodorant I use a stick one that has refills.

lookingsusbro · 16/03/2022 20:15

Because I want to. They work better for me and I like the smell of the one I use.

Roll ons stay sticky all day on me and make me feel grubby. I tried several brands and all were the same, never seemed to dry fully even standing with my arms up for 20 minutes. Stick ones worked well for me but left a residue on several tops which then had to be binned as no amount of washing/scrubbing/cleaners got it out.

I had a friend that swore by natural stick deodorants as they're more healthy (apparently) she and her Dh stank of BO all the time to the point I'd only meet outside as it was unbearable to be inside with them.

Branster · 16/03/2022 20:21

It's purely down to personal preference.
It has to be a reasonably pleasant experience to apply and it has to work.
I'm roll on all the way, every single time. Can't stand the spray particles lingering about and also it feels cold and uncomfortable on application.
DH dislikes roll ons and is spray only for him.

AHungryCaterpillar · 16/03/2022 20:30

I only use spray ones, can’t stand the wet feeling of the roll on ones and my daughter is autistic and won’t use the roll on ones either as she doesn’t like the feel of them

CounsellorTroi · 16/03/2022 20:35

I don’t have children. Couldn’t have them. What has that got to do with anything? I didn’t realise my morning routine was so abnormal.
