I’ve so so many friends that have these now and really do feel I’m the odd one out
Friends all between 30-45 and look amazing! I’ve got to admit I’m very tempted but a bit nervous and also Ttc one last time, so unsure if it’s safe to do if Ttc???
and should I wait! I’m 40 early next year so was thinking about maybe then!
So how many have tried /or already do it? What’s your thoughts? Good?

I know 6/7 people who have had fillers and or Botox. I'm 26 and they're all 24 to 55

Turningpurple · 13/03/2022 22:03

Women are free to do what they want , by same token women are free to take piss out of those that do.

Really? So it's OK to take the piss our of women if they won't conform to what you want them to do and how you want them to act?

Its simply amazing you seem to think you have handle on what's beneficial for women, what women should do and should be and still be vile about women for their looks.

I guess you are saying that if i decide that sahm are bad role models for women (they aren't but it's an example) and I am free to take the piss out of them? If I think they aren't thinking of all women and going to work and trying to level the professional playing field I can take the piss? Or is just when it comes to looks.

Because i haven't seen one person on here who does or would have something done, say anything rude about women who look choose not to, they don't comment on how other women look at all. But those who say they wouldn't have it are the ones obsessed with how other women look and think they have the right to 'take the piss' out of other women and can't see anything wrong with it. It's bizarre.

Same in my friendship group, I'm 30 and lets' say in a group of 10 of my friends only 1 or 2 won't have had either botox or fillers. I have had fillers myself, but nobody would (or has) noticed I don't think, there's a difference between getting it to really change something and getting to slightly enhance your natural look. For example people get up to 2ml in their lips, I get 0.3 etc. just as a subtle improvement x

Turningpurple · 13/03/2022 22:06

I was thinking this. The idea of competing with my DD, or any other young woman, much less stealing their glow and shine, has never once crossed my mind when I have my drop of botox to look a bit less frowny.

Its quite funny that some women think their daughters shine depends on the mothers wrinkles. 🤣

Like we are all Mother Gothel 🤣

Screwcorona · 13/03/2022 22:13

There's some life changing risks to facial fillers so I'd avoid. I wanted my nose hump to appear straighter and looked into this. If filler accidently gets injected into a vessel, that's eyesight gone! Screw that.

I'd like botox but can't afford. Haven't heard of awful side affects but I can't imagine poison injections can be good somewhere down the line

whumpthereitis · 13/03/2022 22:17

@Againstmachine

Or, you know, feel free to continue frothing. Far be it for me to pass comment on your hobbies.

Stop it with personal comments. I've not mentioned anything about you.

You told me to fuck off, and you’ve said you think it’s fine and reasonable to take the piss out of women that have fillers and/or Botox. Now you’re going for ‘don’t make personal comments’?

The jokes, as they say, write themselves.

TweenTrauma · 13/03/2022 22:18

I had Botox once, when I was 40. Hated the way it changed my face, I didn’t look like me anymore and I think I was a lot more attractive before! To make matters worse it was a couple of weeks before I met my bf’s (huge) extended family at an event and I was so self conscious, I kept wanting to say “this isn’t my real face” Grin. Never again, I will grow old gracefully.

Fairislefandango · 13/03/2022 22:25

I'm 50. As far as I know, not a single woman I know has had Botox or fillers. It's certainly not the norm where I live (rural NW - lots of outdoor gear and waterproofs Grin). I wouldn't be remotely interested in having that kind of procedure. I'm 50, I probably look 50 - which is fine imo!

AnnieandMiri · 13/03/2022 22:36

I know so many people who have them too, between 30-40. Some even younger than 30! I'm considering trying them for my laugh lines but still unsure as on the other hand, I kind of love my laugh lines and feel grateful to have spent so much of my life laughing in the sunshine Grin

Loki64 · 13/03/2022 22:37

I think it has sort of become the norm these days!
I started having botox around 6 months ago and im 29.
I was very sceptical but had quite a stressful few years and developed terrible lines around my eyes. I had a consultation and they said that this was a good age to start getting it before the lines set in properly and are harder to get rid of.
I couldnt believe how easy it was, i didnt feel a thing and the second top up also had it in my forehead, around eyes and even in the frown lines in my nose!

Blossomtoes · 13/03/2022 22:42

Perhaps in certain age groups and locations but definitely not generally. If the economy worsens as it appears it will I suspect far fewer people will get these treatments, they just won’t be able to afford them.

PinkSyCo · 13/03/2022 22:44

Hopefully the Botox get rid of the lines that spelt out GULLIBLE on your forehead too. 😂

Yes I don't mind my laugh lines! My nasolabial folds on the other hand...
Loki64 · 13/03/2022 22:51

@PinkSyCo I actually got it done with an nhs nurse. I went back for a top up after three months as suggested and she said i didnt need a top up and to not waste my money as it wasnt needed yet.

Im assuming ur one of many mn posters that just spends ur evenings writing stupid comments to people to fill ur time?

Maybe some botox will make u feel better 😂

Wow that is harsh!!!! Someone sounds a little bitter and jealous

Yep.

As PT Barnum said, “Without promotion, something terrible happens... nothing!”.

Blossomtoes · 13/03/2022 22:54

Jeez, I know they’re badly paid, I didn’t realise they were moonlighting as cosmetic surgeons these days.

CassieMc543 · 13/03/2022 23:00

@loki64

I get my lips done with a nurse aswell and she's anazing at what she does.
Apparently botox can help reduce symptoms of depression aswell, think a few people on here could use a dose 😂😂

Loki64 · 13/03/2022 23:05

@CassieMc543 I know of two people in my area that are nhs nurse's and also do cosmetic! Mainly because its something they enjoy doing!
The woman I go to has had her business for 25 years and also works as a nhs nurse. I dont think she needs to promote, pretty sure she's not strapped for cash.

Haha, yep. Cant imagine what their frown lines are like 😂

PinkSyCo · 13/03/2022 23:11

Haha, yep. Cant imagine what their frown lines are like

Oh believe me I was definitely NOT frowning when I read your post. 😂

HikingforScenery · 13/03/2022 23:32

No one I’m close does them so it’s definitely not normal in my world.

AffIt · 13/03/2022 23:37

@CassieMc543

Apparently botox can help reduce symptoms of depression as well

So I read your post, and got quite interested in this claim - hey ho, off to Google I go.

(DISCLAIMER - I am not a scientist, but I am an industry SME and work in / contribute to academic research on a knowledge transfer basis regularly, so I do know quite a lot about how this shit works and in whose interests it works.)

So, first of all, I found this.

All well and good, you may think, until you start looking at a) the research sponsors and b) the methodology.

If you cannot be arsed to do the hard yards, fear not! For I have done it for you.

a) the research was sponsored by the Seton Healthcare Family, a completely random private Catholic hospital in Austin, Texas. I think that's a lot of money to spend on some random research, but hey, what do I know: my money is not invested in the US cosmetic healthcare industry.

b) this is the best bit - (if you're really interested, you can read the full data table, but tbh I wouldn't bother) - the outcome was based on whether or not participants (93% of whom were female, btw) felt better about themselves when looking in a mirror that they did 6 weeks prior. That's it.

As I say, I'm not a scientist, but if somebody would like to offer me some money to this kind of clinical trial, then I am 100% available. Smile

AffIt · 13/03/2022 23:39

Dammit, 'than they did 6 weeks prior'.

Annoying typo.

Anyway, that wee bit of research amused me on a Sunday evening. Smile

AffIt · 13/03/2022 23:53

Sorry, last correction - Seton Healthcare Family is actually owned by Ascension, which is one of the largest private healthcare systems in the US, and who were done for leaking medical data in 2018.

Just goes to show - follow the money. Smile

AffIt · 14/03/2022 01:39

Last thing, @CassieMc543, why do you write 'as well' as 'aswell'? It's two seperate words, no?
