As tithe says. Not bumpy or raised. Came up an hour ago. Not a graze. Like botches.

Anyone any ideas?

Sorry, like blotchy.

Not used any creams or make up and nothing anywhere else.

Has she been scratching there? I occasionally get random rashes like that (started when I was about 11) and I think now it’s where I scratch particularly hard and it causes broken vessels under the skin or something.

daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:05

No scratching. It's like blotches under the skin with nothing on top

That is almost like a type of bruising rather than a rash. It doesn't have to be painful. It looks identical to my husbands shoulder after he had been carrying a heavy bag with a shoulder strap, I always point out our to him and he hasn't noticed. So I would say think hard about what she could have done even without thinking (pinching it mindlessly etc?)

daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:05

So no irritation or raised or bumpy skin. Completely smooth

Yes, I thought that. Like pressing on her hands watching her iPad but she says not and she doesn't do that.

She's been in the house all day, cleaning her room and mooching about and I just noticed it a couple of hours ago

Does it disappear when you press it?

steff13 · 12/03/2022 22:08

I think it looks a little like a hickey. Was she doing that thing kids do, where they put a cup over their chin and bottom lip and suck it on? I'm not explaining that well, but it could result in bruising like that under the chin.

daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:09

@Claireshh

Does it disappear when you press it?

No. I've done the glass test. That's what is making me nervous

@CautiousOptimist11 yes exactly like that. DH had that after carrying a heavy shoulder strap bag on holiday. How old is he op?

ShowOfHands · 12/03/2022 22:09

I agree with pp. Looks like a pressure mark. I get them if I scratch and occasionally, when carrying heavy stuff. DH gets it from some of his armour.

Benjispruce5 · 12/03/2022 22:09

She

daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:09

But no other symptoms. Perfectly chirpy etc

Might phone NHS line

OP posts:
daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:10

She's 15

OP posts:
Benjispruce5 · 12/03/2022 22:10

There wouldn’t be symptoms from a pressure mark.

daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:11

It's meningitis I'm worried about

OP posts:
Claireshh · 12/03/2022 22:12

If it doesn’t disappear and your daughter can’t tell you about any accidents then I would get her seen really soon. Honestly i’d call out of hours.

daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:12

On hold to NHS.

It's probably nothing etc but just a bit worried

Waiting time of an hour

OP posts:
daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:14

I'm in Scotland. Every time I call NHS 24 (which is rate) they always say go to A&E but don't want to burden NHS etc for no reason

Presuming DD hasn't been carrying a shoulder bag under chin, I’d ring 111.

On hold now. Could take an hour before someone free so waiting it out

Yes I get the concern but I think the rash appears last with meningitis, after other symptoms. Hope you get reassurance. Has she been squeezing a spot or anything at all?

Benjispruce5 · 12/03/2022 22:16

Obvs the shoulder bag comments are about pressure to the area.Hmm

No spots.

I don't think it's meningitis but you know when you get that nagging 'but what if' doubt
