As tithe says. Not bumpy or raised. Came up an hour ago. Not a graze. Like botches.

Anyone any ideas?

I’d say she’s done something absent mindedly and it’s a bruise/rash from scratching or pressure. Mine look exactly like that. I remember being terrified when I first noticed it when I was 11ish (meningitis was a big thing at the time and I was convinced I was going to die) and then it just went away.
Like I said, I still get them occasionally and I don’t even realise I’ve done anything.

DogforPM · 12/03/2022 22:17

I had something very similar to this in the same place as your DD, many years ago, twice. Mine looked exactly like a mini tyre track. I asked a doctor and they didn’t have a clue. It was so odd. It went away on its own. Obviously if you’re concerned phone to get it it checked out though.

PuppyMonkey · 12/03/2022 22:18

Squeezing which spot? There seem to be lots.

Notimeforaname · 12/03/2022 22:19

Yes I think when a meningitis rash gets to that dark red purple stage you would have other symptoms and it's far along,no?

Was she wearing a helmet or anything yesterday which ties under the chin? She could have done something silly in her room and doesn't want to tell you or she was just leaning her chin or something for a while. Hopefully it's all good op.

Benjispruce5 · 12/03/2022 22:19

15 year olds often squeeze a perceived spot. I have teenagers. Just trying to help op while she waits.

daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:20

Thanks all.

I'm just waiting for someone to answer.

DD feels fine so that's good.

I don't want to be that parent overreacting

Kids eh? The joys!

You won’t sleep until you know.

Wagsandclaws · 12/03/2022 22:21

Both my DC's get this type of rash on the shoulder air back when they've been carrying something heavy.

Obvs that wouldn't be the case under her chin but the thing to do is get a clear glass and apply pressure to see if the spots disappear. If they don't then yes you need to get them looked at or get advice.

I think they are a pressure sort of mark/rash but do speak to 111 and see what they say?

daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:22

Poor NHS too

Sounds like they are overwhelmed if waiting times this long

My call was triaged to ensure it wasn't covid related

Ooh just a thought. She didn’t try to wax anything did she?

implantsandaDyson · 12/03/2022 22:22

My daughter gets very similar markings under her chin when she drinks certain brands of juice/ fruit juice. My daughter's isn't a rash, isn't raised, isn't itchy but is noticeable. Its just occurred to me that she hasn't had it in ages but your pic looks very similar. It usually had faded considerably by the next day and then disappeared completely.

daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:23

No. No waxing or any make up today or any new products

She was cleaning her room but no products

All very odd and probably harmless

My son got a rash like that once.

We laugh now but he was drinking out a bottle and squeezed the bottle. It sucked his lips into the bottle. Had trouble getting them back out.
Fish lips with that exact rash round them for about a week. Looked like he had bottle!

She's had frozen raspberries but she has these a lot

OP has done the glass test and the spots didn't disappear, hope all is okay, I just picked up on this.

Msgiggles30 · 12/03/2022 22:26

It looks like petechaie. Little blood spots from pressure I've had it from coughing/sneezing or straining before!

Benjispruce5 · 12/03/2022 22:31

Blood vessel spots don’t fade under the glass test. DD had them on her face after being sick when she was 2. I worried about meningitis but Dr said she was too well for it to be meningitis and that they were likely caused by the pressure/strain of vomiting.

Joinedforthis2021 · 12/03/2022 22:31

Glandular fever is knocking about at the moment too

JaniceBattersby · 12/03/2022 22:32

Given her age, I bet she’s done something fucking stupid or embarrassing, or absent-mindedly done something and she’s either too mortified to tell you or genuinely can’t remember.

Has she been doing that thing with a cup where you put it on your mouth, then under your chin and suck to create a vacuum to hold it there? It’ll be something like that.

Willyoujustbequiet · 12/03/2022 22:35

Get a platelet count OP. There are autoimmune conditions that cause internal bleeding such as thrombocytopenia.

Any jabs recently?

ThatPosterIsSoRight · 12/03/2022 22:35

Has she been lying on her front in her bed, resting in her chin?

daisychainsspring · 12/03/2022 22:36

Still waiting.

She assures me no sucking, pinching, picking etc

She is a teenager though so ...

Hopefully I get through to someone and can relax and get back to my film Smile

No jabs and not on any medication

She's as fit as a fiddle and no concerns
