Found a black hair grip …

Wingingthis · 11/03/2022 10:20

DH is at work, I’m in the middle of a deep clean. Whilst I was hoovering I found in the corner of the bedroom, kind of camouflaged into the carpet a black hair grip/Bobby pin whatever they’re called.
I’m blonde and have always been blonde, my kids are toddlers so do not use hair grips. No one else has been in our bedroom that would explain it.
I’ve also been away all week with the kids.

Aibu to be suspicious??? I’m also pregnant so know I don’t think rationally sometimes atm

Sitting here in my bedroom reading the thread I've just taken a look around my bedroom carpet and I can see two despite having cleaned the floor two days ago and not wearing them in my hair since Christmas party.

Wheresthebeach · 11/03/2022 16:10

I still find them, maybe used them 20 years ago...I think....

PineappleSundays · 11/03/2022 16:13

@MrsSkylerWhite

I still occasionally find pine needles when I’m deep cleaning. Been here 12 years now and have an artificial tree. Really wouldn’t jump to conclusions (unless there’s history).
Are you sure they didn't fall out when your husband had a sexual encounter with a Christmas tree? I'd be very suspicious.

In all seriousness though OP those things do get all over. It's too hard to say without more info. I wouldn't think anything of this personally because I've no reason to suspect my husband of cheating and I'd need more than one single Bobby pin to start suspecting him. If you already have reason then maybe so.

Could no one have just walked it in? Did you lay the carpet or was it there when you moved in? Is there really no time in your life you've possibly had a black Bobby pin in your hair? I don't really use them but I found a load a few weeks ago from when I was a bridesmaid at a friend's wedding years ago and the hair stylist used them. Completely forgot about them, I'd taken them all out after the reception when I got home and shoved them in my jewelry box.

What does your gut instinct tell you …. my ex-husband had a bottle of massage oil in his overnight bag that I found. And tried to convince me that was in the hotel room, I’m laughing to myself as I’m typing this, you know like the shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and a full size bottle of body shop massage oil I mean fucking hell. I knew he was talking absolute nonsense and that I knew he was having an affair and the bottle-o massage oil just confirmed it. What other evidence do you have ?

Bringsexyback · 11/03/2022 16:20

I take it the OP hasn’t been back then no ?

What do you want her to come back and say?

"We had new carpets put in 3 months ago and bought it as a new build 20 years ago. I asked my husband about it and he looked confused and didn't even know what it was."?

If she says she doesn't trust him because of x, y and z she'll be told to look through his phone.

If she says she does trust him she'll be told to stop being paranoid.

WonderfulYou · 11/03/2022 16:27

I'm not sure I'd jump to conclusions over a Bobby pin, those things get everywhere.
Come the apocalypse there'll just be them and the cockroaches left.

I agree!

Keep you’re eyes open for anything else suspicious but this alone wouldn’t worry me

JustAnotherSod · 11/03/2022 16:30

I'm sure I read an almost identical OP a few weeks ago - can't remember what the completely normal and get everywhere item was involved but it was found in a bedroom, after the pregnant poster had been away and couldn't possibly be the children's as they were much too young.

Not sure if that was your post OP - but if it was, is there something going on that is giving you cause for concern, or can I suggest you reach out for some support yourself - it can't be easy tying yourself into knots of speculation over such mundane stuff you're finding.

@MarieIVanArkleStinks

WTF is a 'Kirby' grip?

Hair grips, is what they are.

This entire thread is a study in how to turn a simple object into something a lot more complicated than it needs to be Hmm

They were originally called Kirbigrips, made by Kirby. My mother called them kirby grips. Bobby pin is American, same things. All are hair grips.
shockthemonkey · 11/03/2022 16:31

Does being blonde prevent you from using black hairgrips?

Rewis · 11/03/2022 16:32

black hair grip/Bobby pin whatever they’re called.
I’m blonde and have always been blonde,

Wait, people actually match these with their hair colour?

That's the point isn't it? 🤣 I always have, I have brown hair and get the brown ones!

I’d like to know this too
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 11/03/2022 16:36

Maybe he likes crossdressing and putting his hair up in Bobby pins. What cour hair does he have? Maybe he is doing a David Beckham and it will be hairbands next.

Well no...did anyone say it did?

Surely if OP had used black grips then she wouldn't have started the thread

RVN123 · 11/03/2022 16:39

Kirby grips are the ones with the little ridges that shut almost flat together. Hair pins are different, they are larger and stay more open.

RVN123 · 11/03/2022 16:40

Staryflight445 · 11/03/2022 16:43

See if I’d been away for a week and came home and found one I’d feel alarmed because I don’t buy or use them, we have recarpeted since moving in so there’s no reason to be any in my house.

You know your situation op, if there’s cause for concern you should look at your partners reaction when you tell him you’ve found one.

Rewis · 11/03/2022 16:44

For me the point is to get my hair our from my face. I have black, brown and golden (which I think is suppose to be for blonde hair). Basically anything that I managed to find or what's on sale. Had a 100 pack of black ones. Now I'm down to 10 and no recollection of losing any of them. I understand that the purpose kihht be to match it with hair, but I've never really thought about the correlation of I have blonde hair=black Bobby pin can't be mine Grin

That depends whether you want them to be visible or not. Obviously.
Staryflight445 · 11/03/2022 16:48

Someone finding a teaspoon in their bedroom that didn’t belong to them and alluding to their partner having an affair would make for a very odd thread 😅
