Found a black hair grip …

Wingingthis · 11/03/2022 10:20

DH is at work, I’m in the middle of a deep clean. Whilst I was hoovering I found in the corner of the bedroom, kind of camouflaged into the carpet a black hair grip/Bobby pin whatever they’re called.
I’m blonde and have always been blonde, my kids are toddlers so do not use hair grips. No one else has been in our bedroom that would explain it.
I’ve also been away all week with the kids.

Aibu to be suspicious??? I’m also pregnant so know I don’t think rationally sometimes atm

Socks, where do they go to?
I have three now without a partner :(
I believe there is a sock fairy

1forAll74 · 11/03/2022 13:28

Oh dear, it must be mine, I have lost one.. I usually use brown ones, but have a few black ones.. I some times use them as paper clips, If I cant find my paper clip container. I recently found a hair grip on my bedroom floor the other day too,, but my cats flips things like this on the floor, if they sit on a bedroom unit or something.

Blossomtoes · 11/03/2022 13:29

It’s the sort of thing that disappears then randomly turns up aeons later. Like earring backs - there must be a mountain of those somewhere.

thedancingbear · 11/03/2022 13:29

@Wonnle

I found a paper clip once
That would make me nervous though. He could be using it to keep together receipts from prostitutes.
MotherofAutism · 11/03/2022 13:30

@shssandhr

Those things get everywhere. I use them but never seem to have any. They just disappear. I suspect they fall out and I don't notice. There's probably a trail of them in every client's home I work in. And I can assure you I'm not having an affair with anyone.

More mysterious is who my cat is having an affair with. Found a fully wrapped sherbet lemon in his litter box last week. No idea where it came from. There's no way it passed through him as it's way too big. I've never had sherbet lemons in this flat and he's a house cat.....
So what's going on there then?

I am genuinely crying laughing at sherbet lemon Cat 🐈‍⬛ 🍋🐈 having an affair

Sorry if ive missed something but what has being blonde got to to with a hair grip

cookiemonster2468 · 11/03/2022 13:32

It depends how long you have been in the house for.

Have you moved in quite recently? Have you ever done a deep clean before?

It could be the previous residents of the house.

In my old place I was finding bobby pins from the previous resident for a good couple of years after moving in.

OP's saying she wouldn't use the black slides because they'd be too obvious in her hair, so it's definitely not hers.
Fernandina · 11/03/2022 13:52

That's exactly the sort of thing my dd1 used to pick up when she was a toddler. She used to collect all sorts of random bits and bobs.

Floomobal · 11/03/2022 13:53

If I found one in my bedroom, before being suspicious of my partner, I’d think

  1. Has anyone ever lived in this house before us?
  2. Has anyone ever been in this room before or since us?
  3. Have I ever walked into this room with shoes on?
  4. Have I ever walked into this room wearing a coat/jumper/clothes that I’ve also worn somewhere else that has picked up a bobby pin?
  5. Have I ever brought laundry into this room that includes towels etc that have been used in a public place?

Even if you laid the carpets new yesterday, there’s always a chance that someone’s Bobby pin was in the shop/warehouse/van etc. Those things get everywhere

I posted a picture of red ones back along!

Sorry this was for the redheaded lady!

@LampLighter414

Sounds like it could have fallen out during a sexual encounter in the bedroom to me

Mine kept going missing because, well, that's what they do. I assumed they were falling into the same vortex as my odd socks, every teaspoon in the house, and the tupperware lids.

However, I found one on the cistern in the bathroom and it turns out my DH was taking them and using the closed/looped end to clean out his ears Envy (NOT envy).

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 11/03/2022 14:08

@Lovemusic33

6 pages of scrolling and OP hasn’t been back to explain her concerns.

Maybe she has reason to suspect her dp has been shagging other people?

Maybe the hair grip is from previous how owner…?
Maybe dp cross dresses and they came from his wig?

@Lovemusic33 did you know that you don't need to do that, if there's no “see next” under the op then there are no more posts

On here it's almost a sterreotype that a woman goes away for a night/week and returns to find something that could suggest an affair. You'dthink the world rmust be full of wanton women who can't hold on to their belongings while secretly visiting their married lovers at every chance they get Grin

ValkyrieVik · 11/03/2022 14:08

Do you have any other reason to be suspicious OP?

Finding a Kirby grip alone wouldn't make me an suspect affair - however I'm 100% certain my dh wouldn't be thick enough to take the OW to our house if he were up to no good!

He's far too intelligent for that - it'd be premier inns all the way!!

Wannabangbang · 11/03/2022 14:09

Bobby pins are so slim they have ways of burying themselves into the knooks of things. Could it be from where carpet was laid, people being there before you moved in, people staying over, the cleaner if you have one, your mum or his mum. Rule out all of these before considering anything sinister. Fingers crossed it is just a lost grip from a known visitor

Burgoo · 11/03/2022 14:10

If you are suspicious just ask him flat out.
If not then assume it was there for decades (and one of you hoover the damn house pls!)

FleshLiabilities · 11/03/2022 14:14

He's had his fancy woman round and she's been pinning him. Don't Google it

PeeAche2 · 11/03/2022 14:16

I'd be really pleased with this find. They're my favourite thing to clean my ears with.

GeneLovesJezebel · 11/03/2022 14:21

Maybe it belonged to the carpet fitter 🤔

Flexitarian · 11/03/2022 14:24

I suspect it's mine. I can't find one for love nor money and I swear I only bought a pack last week.

Stillafatknacker · 11/03/2022 14:28

I am gripped by this mystery. Come back OP!

LTB immediately that is disgusting
Felicity42 · 11/03/2022 14:37

If he had her in that room, then he either changed the sheets or else her hairs would be in the bed surely. Especially if they had boisterous sex there resulting in hair grips flying to far flung corners of the room.
Unless he's a cross dresser, that's not unheard of.
