To say something to nursery queue jumper....

240 replies

NoNow · 08/03/2022 21:02

Hi all!

Queue forms outside nursery gate every day. Two woman are good friends, only one of them will go to where her friend is in the queue, bypassing everyone! I think this is very rude, and it happened again today. (The other friend does not do this, even when beckoned!)
Which means she knows it's not on really....

No one else appears to be that fussed, but it bothers me because I think it's rude!

Should I say something to her?

AIBU?

@OnceuponaRainbow18

My husband pushes in mainly because he has to go to work for a meeting 10 min after we can drop off at the earliest
Why not leave earlier? How rude.
Creameggs223 · 08/03/2022 21:46

How does her going to wait with her friend effect you? She gets through the gate 1 second quicker I really wouldn't be bothered about that it happens all the time at our school.

NoNow · 08/03/2022 21:47

@Creameggs223 because there's a queue. No one else does this, it is rude.

And it's actually more than one second quicker for her as she jumps ahead of about 10 people.

I remember someone posting on here that a father was cutting the queue and everyone on MN was furious about it. I'm a little surprised that in this case its no problem for most people because its a mother.
Yes, I remember that thread. The advice then was to tell the offender (male) to get to the back of the queue and stop pushing (metaphorically) people/women out of the way. I’m really surprised that everyone is saying the opposite here.
toomanydogsandcats · 08/03/2022 21:50

This is why I went back to work after a few weeks...step back and actually listen to yourself. The highlight of your day is lining up outside a nursery!!!!!!

People aren’t saying it’s fine, just that it’s not worth having an argument over.
NoNow · 08/03/2022 21:51

@toomanydogsandcats 😂 technically it's a low point of my day

That’s fine, everyone is probably going back to watch This Morning.

SheWoreYellow · 08/03/2022 21:52

@hm1610 “Why not leave earlier? How rude.”

I’m reading it as drop off - they get there for the earliest the child can be dropped off, but it’s still tight.

And no one else has anywhere they need to be? Rude man.

Errr no, that'll be mainly because he's not leaving early enough to get to the front of the queue Hmm
BeforeGodAndAllTheFish · 08/03/2022 22:06

Very different answers on here when compared with a recent similar thread.

In that thread, it was a dad who walked up to the front of the queue and everyone was cheering the OP on to tell him off and when she did, she got a lot of applause on here.

DuggeeHugPlease · 08/03/2022 22:07

Depends - is it just a queue to get inside the gates and then a free for all for drop off/pick up - this is what happens at our school.

Or is it what happens at our nursery that there is a line to the door and each child is individually dropped off/picked up including a short chat with the staff and handing over of belongings etc.

The first wouldn't even register as annoying or rude but the second would wind me up and I would say something if it regularly happened.

Comedycook · 08/03/2022 22:11

It's a pisstake but take my advice and don't make enemies of the other mums

Katya213 · 08/03/2022 22:12

@Scarydinosaurs

This wouldn’t bother me at all. You’re all going to get into the nursery - it isn’t like there is limited availability.
This!

Ahh the manz has a big important job, bless him.

There was more to it than that, though. He was also holding people up by standing chatting to the teacher.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 08/03/2022 22:12

Puke on her as she walks past to get to her friend. I guarantee it'll only take a couple of times before she thinks twice. Grin

NoNow · 08/03/2022 22:13

@DuggeeHugPlease the second one!

Yes, I thought this was the same thread! I was hoping for an update.

Does anyone remember enough about it to be able to find it?

OP, I hope someone links it as that OP got a lot better advice!
Yes, you should definitely say something IMO.

Everyone could use that excuse for feeling they're special, being a man he will expect to get away with it too.

You’ve got to be joking.
WorkCleanRepeat · 08/03/2022 22:16

I'm genuinely surprised so many people are bothered by this. I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

NoNow · 08/03/2022 22:17

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar You made me laugh, thank you! I will imagine I'm doing this every time she jumps the queue!
