To have done the most embarrassing thing ever

Happened about an hour ago and I think I’ll need to go home and never come back to the office again

I work with a very very very handsome man. He was on the phone in the office this morning trying to sort out someone to come and fix his boiler.

He happened to say his postcode and me being the creepy wee lady I am put it into maps on my phone to see where he lived Blush

For some reason (and I still don’t know why) my phone blared

STARTING ROUTE FROM current location TO handsome man’s postcode

I was 6 feet away in a quiet office. He turned to look and I couldn’t even look up for wanting the ground to swallow me whole.

How do I come back from this? 😂

Please someone else tell me you’ve done something equally as embarrassing

@ouch12345

I'm so sorry but I think you need to leave your job and then leave the country and potentially even change your name and get reconstructive surgery.

Just as well we can all have a giggle at our own expense! These are great and have made me laugh out loud.

Makes me remember a similar cringeworthy moment. As a young teenager, I went out with friends, male and female, to the swimming pool. Think a first outing of this sort without parents in tow. At the swimming pool I was out to impress one of the boys in our group. I dived into the pool and was pretty chuffed at myself for pulling off such a good dive. That must impress him. I gracefully climbed out of the pool and stood again on the edge, ready to impress with another dive. Unfortunately when I looked down, the previous dive had somehow managed to pull the top of my swimming costume down and it was hooked under my right boob….! With right boob on show for all to see. And yes, everyone did most definitely see!

Im searching for the thread 'my DP has asked just told me a woman at work searched his address and directions when he was on phone to a plumber. AIBU to think there is more to it?'

Then a load of LTBs, ducks in a row and have you seen any messages?

Grin
Londoncallingme · 08/03/2022 23:18

I love it that you did that, sorry but I do!
I went to the loo last week with the zoom microphone ( meeting was on my phone) still on and am still cringing - only female in the meeting so I can’t even ask anyone what they heard! Thank bloody god the camera was off!

TooMuchToblerone · 08/03/2022 23:19

You've made my night OP Grin
Priceless

A few years ago I was getting my eyes tested at the opticians. I was sat in the chair and the optician was sat right in front of my face with the torch holding her finger in front of my eyes saying "look left" "look right" etc whilst she checked my pupils.

She then said to look down, and said what I heard as "just blow on my finger". So I sat there and started blowing on this lady's finger like how you'd blow on a bowl of hot soup. My heart absolutely sank when I realised she hadn't asked me to blow on her finger and had actually said to look "just below my finger". Sitting through the rest of the eye test was absolutely excruciating and it still haunts me to this day.

Amazing. Thank you for sharing.

Oh. My. God. I have laughed so much my makeup has smudged.
CrazyCatLover · 08/03/2022 23:24

This post has really cheered me up 😁

hopeso · 08/03/2022 23:30

I'm so sorry, but this is the funniest thing I've read in ages. I have to admit, I would have done the same! I'm looking forward to tomorrow's update (sorry, OP, I am cringing on your behalf.) You could have perhaps said you are thinking of moving and just wanted to see what the commute was like but blaming Siri is a good one...

MistySkiesAfterRain · 08/03/2022 23:32

I'm actually in a bath that has gone cold thanks to this thread 😂

shamalidacdak · 08/03/2022 23:37

Sorry but you'll have to leave the country and assume a new identity Grin

HangingOver · 08/03/2022 23:47

I send to work with slebs and we ALWAYS googled the house Grin

Actually, part of my job was to take important people to the the artists gigs and shmoose them in the hope of getting the act more bookings. Taking said bigwigs backstage after the show to meet the act, when we were saying bye I once accidentally said "well, thank you so much for coming to the show" to the artist instead of the journo..after his own gig... that he'd organized the free tickets to....and in front of his family.

I still think about that.

GADDay · 09/03/2022 00:15

You can never return. Ever. The end.

Sorry OP - you are jobless but you did make me laugh....... your embarrassing story is a doozy.

@PeeAche

Solidarity, OP:

When I was at university, Facebook came out.

One day, I was searching for this guy that lived in my halls. I had such a thing for him because he was so dark and brooding. 🤤

I put his name into FB over and over but every time I hit enter, the page just refreshed and still only showed me my own "wall". So I gave up.

A few hours later, my friend from a few doors down asked me why I had just covered my own FB wall with this guy's name. Over and over and over again as my status.

I realised then that I'd been writing him into my status bar instead of the search bar.

I wanted to die.

@PeeAche OmG 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

I literally gasped out loud and put my hand over my mouth when I read this.

😱

It is funny though, something I would laugh with my friends about for years.

MotherofAutism · 09/03/2022 08:57

@faceonfire

I’ll be honest, I watched Martin Lewis tonight and my husband was saying I could probably have powered Britain with the Beamer I’ve had all day Blush
What does he mean by Beamer?
cordelia16 · 09/03/2022 08:58

just fyi, someone posted this story on twitter, including a link. it currently has 822 RTs and 9,095 likes.

TheVolturi · 09/03/2022 09:11

This is so funny 🤣🤣. I hope Alan can sleep easy.
If Robert Pattinson could see my Google search history he'd probably hotfoot it to Putins bunker and beg him for refuge 😳

NiLunNiLautre · 09/03/2022 09:14

What does he mean by Beamer?

Red face from embarrassment! OP must be Scottish Grin

faceonfire · 09/03/2022 09:20

I am indeed Scottish….I thought my “creepy wee lady” line would have given that away and yes Beamer means blushing 😂

I’m back in the office this morning with handsome Alan and he hasn’t moved his seat which I’m taking to mean he isn’t terrified Grin

OP posts:
NiLunNiLautre · 09/03/2022 09:31

Duh me!
Yes I forgot about your "creepy wee lady" comment (also forgot the word blush ☺!)

I'm a Scot in exile now, so I love seeing words like 'beamer' - takes me back to my (embarrassing) teenage years!

HeadingForHome · 09/03/2022 09:37

Aw I wish my office had a Hot Alan we could creep on. Although I'd probably Google the addresses of any of my colleagues, hot or not. Blush

ExHProblem · 09/03/2022 09:47

Thank you for this thread OP, it is the best thing I’ve read in ages. I keep coming back to it and laughing Grin
Trying to think of something embarrassing that I can contribute. There are many, but nothing quite as good Grin
