To have done the most embarrassing thing ever

Happened about an hour ago and I think I’ll need to go home and never come back to the office again

I work with a very very very handsome man. He was on the phone in the office this morning trying to sort out someone to come and fix his boiler.

He happened to say his postcode and me being the creepy wee lady I am put it into maps on my phone to see where he lived Blush

For some reason (and I still don’t know why) my phone blared

STARTING ROUTE FROM current location TO handsome man’s postcode

I was 6 feet away in a quiet office. He turned to look and I couldn’t even look up for wanting the ground to swallow me whole.

How do I come back from this? 😂

Please someone else tell me you’ve done something equally as embarrassing

OP posts:
GingerFoxInAT0phat · 08/03/2022 12:22

Haha I’m cringing on your behalf Grin

teaandchocolate1 · 08/03/2022 12:22

I think you need to let it go and pretend it never happened.

Styling it out would only work if you had thought of something in the exact moment it happened.

PureBlackVoid · 08/03/2022 12:23

🤣🤣amazing, this bit in particular:

“ He turned to look and I couldn’t even look up for wanting the ground to swallow me whole.”

Have either of you made a peep in the last hour?

Whiskersonkittens21 · 08/03/2022 12:24

If it helps I told a colleague to enjoy their half day today as the weathers nice for them to tell me they're going to a funeral.

I'd definitely go down the Siri overheard him route!

ToiletGambles · 08/03/2022 12:24

This is so funny 🤣🤣 gave me a right laugh!

Workinghardeveryday · 08/03/2022 12:25

Say Siri did it!!

Nighttimenope · 08/03/2022 12:25

Ah- him being handsome is a red herring!! And no doubt significantly increasing your embarrassment!
Imagine it was a fairly ordinary colleague and you had done the same out of mere curiosity. Not so bad, and you could just admit you’re nosy and sorry about it! Based on their response you can laugh it off/up the apology. Then of course die quietly when you get home but bravery is your friend here!

gamerchick · 08/03/2022 12:25

@Spud1130

Style it out. Siri must have picked him up saying his postcode. Really must remember to lock your phone before you put it in your bag...
Definitely this. His own fault then
Nighttimenope · 08/03/2022 12:26

Unless he doesn’t actually know it was you kn which case, as you were 😄

mistermagpie · 08/03/2022 12:26

Oh god, I would DIE! I would totally do something like this, I'm very nosy.

Well I don't think you can do much about it now, I think at the time you would have had to go 'Yikes! How did my phone pick up what Handsome Colleague was saying?!? How VERY VERY WEIRD' and change the subject quickly, but now too much time has passed.

I hope you're not single and hoping to start something with Handsome Colleague because I think your chances of success are now zero!

gingerhills · 08/03/2022 12:28

@WaterBottle123

Style it out. It's not your fault your phone accidentally had voice dictation on and HE WAS LOUD is it?
I would like you to be my new best friend and personal advisor forever.
1000yellowdaisies · 08/03/2022 12:28

So so funny! I would totally have done that sort of thing Grin

manchester86 · 08/03/2022 12:29

I just proper laughed out loud at this 😂
Thank you OP, I really needed that after reading the news ❤️

Wallabyone · 08/03/2022 12:30

Oh OP, I'm so sorry that you are cringing but you've made me laugh hard 😂 and cheered me up. I hope you can get through this 🤣🤣

FourTeaFallOut · 08/03/2022 12:30

I mean, I don't know how you come out of this with any dignity. There isn't anything you can say at this point that won't sound like, "Yes, Yes, I am a stalker and everytime you hear the bin rattle, it might just be me".

Airyfairymarybeary · 08/03/2022 12:30

This is mortifying!!!! I’m dying of embarrassment for you, sorry op!!

gingerhills · 08/03/2022 12:31

OP, that is hard to come back from.

In my teens when everyone smoked I tried to casually impress a boy by pulling my cigarettes out of my bag without looking at them or him, flipped the lid open shook them loose and said, 'Help yourself.' 'Er no thanks,' he said. I had just offered him a selection of brightly wrapped mini tampons. I never spoke to him or looked at him again. Grin

irishfarmer · 08/03/2022 12:32

Oh my god, I am sorry that is actually hilarious!!

Yes you will get over it. And will laugh at it pretty soon

DrSbaitso · 08/03/2022 12:33

Yep, blame it on voice control.

Was it a nice house?

Gonnagetgoing · 08/03/2022 12:34

Siri is your friend here!

StepawayfromtheBiscuittin · 08/03/2022 12:36

Turn your phone off and hide it. Keep it at home tomorrow. Announce on Thursday that you are going to pick up a new phone after work as Siri was stuck on your old one. Not at all convoluted...

Totally roared laughing OP. It's lovely having a handsome man around, hope you can style it out and you don't have to now leave. BlushBlush

HaggisBurger · 08/03/2022 12:39

I totally get why you did this - but man it’s a tough one. I think … just never ever speak of it again 😀

fancyfrogs · 08/03/2022 12:39

Oh my god that's horrendous and something that would happen to me so I am dying for you 😂
Definitely Siri's fault!!

Whatsonmymindgrapes · 08/03/2022 12:41

Noooooo

Fruitbatdancer · 08/03/2022 12:41

Style it out! Say Siri overheard!
