To have done the most embarrassing thing ever

Happened about an hour ago and I think I’ll need to go home and never come back to the office again

I work with a very very very handsome man. He was on the phone in the office this morning trying to sort out someone to come and fix his boiler.

He happened to say his postcode and me being the creepy wee lady I am put it into maps on my phone to see where he lived Blush

For some reason (and I still don’t know why) my phone blared

STARTING ROUTE FROM current location TO handsome man’s postcode

I was 6 feet away in a quiet office. He turned to look and I couldn’t even look up for wanting the ground to swallow me whole.

How do I come back from this? 😂

Please someone else tell me you’ve done something equally as embarrassing

OP posts:

Nobody was going to believe the Siri story anyway!

Bebs677 · 10/03/2022 21:12

Hilarious! If it makes you feel any better I absent mindedly said 'yes darling' to my younger male colleague at work this week (in the same way I would to my kids if they interrupted while I was focused on something.) The whole office heard and errupted with laughter. Embarassed much!

shoopashoop · 11/03/2022 00:25

Oh god @faceonfire I too have had an OP printed by lazy journalists and it was awful! If it helps though I laugh about it now Grin

hightimer · 11/03/2022 17:10

@Sparklingbrook

I expect so, but why does that matter? He knows it happened

I didn't say it mattered. Would just be a bit strange at work though.

Probably a tad strange anyway.
YouDoIDo · 11/03/2022 18:41

@faceonfire I think “Alan” may well know what you have done now as Kelly Brooks was talking about your post on Heart radio today 😳 they wanted people to text in about there embarrassing moments and read out your story on air. Good luck covering up now.

RedCabbageHowMuch · 09/04/2022 14:41

This has just made an appearance on The 'Shagged, Married, Annoyed' podcast 😂

ElizabethBoland · 14/04/2022 12:00

Just heard this on SMA too, think it’s fairly obvious the person who sent that story in isn’t a friend at all and read the thread here

Hawkins001 · 30/06/2022 01:41

How have things been since op ?

georgarina · 30/06/2022 04:15

I had once just started seeing someone, and was checking my messages, when someone asked how the therapy I'd just started was going.
I was talking all about it and how much it was helping me with all my weird issues...and my phone somehow made it a voice note and sent it to him!!
I just called him and asked him to delete it and he said he did 😂

Anne124 · 08/09/2022 11:50

That doesn't sound bad to me at all .... I'd own it and say you were curious about where he lives and what houses look like as you love to as you're always on rightmove and zoopla sites. This is all true in my case and I've been caught and said exactly that (though my colleagues are far from handsome or attractive so I am literally just curious).

pollykitty · 08/09/2022 11:51

Your poor thing! I can't stop laughing, I would have done exactly the same, I am so nosey! Sometimes I find the best approach is to make fun of yourself -- just say, yeah, I'm a bit nosey and weird, wondered where you lived. Sorry not sorry. And then add, don't worry I'm not a stalker. He'll forever think your weird but lying will just dig a bigger hole.

AgnestaVipers · 08/09/2022 12:00

Blame Siri.

Festoonlights · 08/09/2022 12:08

Shit wrong thread! Sorry op!

Why have you resurrected the thread 3 months later to give this advice...? OP would look an even bigger weirdo if she goes over to him now and tries to make up an excuse (after the thing has already gone viral).

Baggyeye · 08/09/2022 12:20

Haven't read the full thread but have everything crossed that it ends up with @faceonfire with her toolkit trying to fix handsome Alan's boiler!

Panickingnow · 08/09/2022 12:27

Just say your phone picked his postcode as he was saying it out loud. No big deal.

Panickingnow · 08/09/2022 12:28

Oh old thread, just realised

Hereforaglance · 29/02/2024 08:39

barnefri · 29/02/2024 08:52

Zombie thread

FlyingFox · 29/02/2024 08:57

OMG haven't laughed so much in ages!!! Thanks for brightening up my morning. Not helpful I know but as you didn't say anything at the time it might be odd to try and explain it now, if he asks I would just say what others said you were typing to get directions and accidentally typed his postcode as he was saying it instead of the one you wanted and quickly look on the map around him to find something you could be looking for!

Mh67 · 29/02/2024 09:43

Sorry but that is so funny made me laugh out loud 🤣🤣

TheBerry · 29/02/2024 10:24

Oh god. That is horrendous. I’m so sorry.

Rufusroo · 29/02/2024 10:28

I once asked a friend’s grandmother “Hello, Gran. You still around?” I still curl up inside when I think of it
