Nowzad are looking to get involved, so they are an option too.

Don't let anyone make you feel bad about where you send your money. Charity is charity.

TakeMe2Insanity · 06/03/2022 21:36

Dear god! So niw Ukrainian animals are more equal than Syrian/Yemeni/Kashmiri/Palestinian/(insert other war zone) animals? I despair!

BIWI · 06/03/2022 21:37

Of course you can. As I've said.

malificent7 · 06/03/2022 21:38

I would prefer for people to donate to humans and I LOVE animals.

MurmuratingStarling · 06/03/2022 21:39

@Drierthananunsnasty

*The donation police are out in force I see.

1. Nowhere has the OP said she hasn’t donated to human beings.

2. You can care for both.

3. It’s none of anyone’s business what people do with their own money so get off your high horses Hmm

This. 100%. ^

This thread isn't going to go well. What a shame. Sad You should have known better @Snooks1971 Even offering something as kind as helping the animals, you're still getting a bashing. FFS. As has been said, people can care about the animals AND the people. The two are not mutually exclusive. WTF is wrong with some people on here?! Some people will bash ANYthing, no matter how innocuous or kind the gesture... Hmm

ScribblingPixie · 06/03/2022 21:39

Nowzad are announcing a plan tomorrow at 7pm.

tilder · 06/03/2022 21:41

YABU.

Words fail me. This is not the first such thread though.

Poorlyplants · 06/03/2022 21:41

I to want to donate to help the animals in Ukraine, I also want to donate to help humans, it is possible to feel compassion for both they are not mutually exclusive.

DrierThanANunsNasty · 06/03/2022 21:42

I wonder if these posters accost people in the street they see putting money in charity boxes.

DON’T DONATE TO BATTERSEA, THINK OF ALL THE CANCER PATIENTS THAT NEED THAT MONEY MORE.

Absolute insanity on a post where OP is asking for recommendations for animal charities not someone’s opinions on where her money goes.

Sleepingboynexttome · 06/03/2022 21:43

Someone wants to do something good for living creatures and you need to stop by and criticise. Just seriously fuck off. Luckily we don’t all have to think or behave like you, there’s space in this world for different acts of charity.

Snooks1971 · 06/03/2022 21:43

Right. Ffs. Just asked for links to credible charities who can help.

Thanks to everyone who has, I am extremely grateful.

I know AIBU is a dog on dog (oh the irony) minefield but I was doing the usual posting for traffic.

Thank you so much to all the advice and will leave the squiffy squalling to the others.

Peace and love, as they say x

I’ve donated to Every Life Counts Rescue in Romania who are now working at the border to help anyone coming over with their pets. They are supplying carriers, food and veterinary care.

Twinkle1989 · 06/03/2022 21:43

Don't feel bad OP - if I was in a situation, I'd be desperate for help with all of my pets!
There is lots of aid locally I've seen going, to the point they cannot accept anymore donations which is lovely.
To me, I can't stomach the thought of what is happening to these poor people, but it breaks my heart just as much to see people clinging to their dog or cat, the only family they really have. Animals matter, and they are family in my eyes.

hattie43 · 06/03/2022 21:44

People started this war not animals .
I admire anyone who thinks of the innocents in all this . I have given to charities supporting both people and animals and I don't think it has to be either all. Pets will be a huge solace for people going through this terror .

tilder · 06/03/2022 21:45

I would rather 5 families are brought to safety than 3 families with their dogs.

Not mutually exclusive no.

Donate to the charity of your choice, of course. Personally I prioritise humans.

Pepsipepsi · 06/03/2022 21:46

I found it really hard to find any Ukraine based charities to donate to, all the search results come up with big British charities, which is fair enough as I'm searching from UK.

So in the end I donated to an international company that I know do good work rescuing dogs from the dog meat trade.
The Humane Society International currently has a emergency fund for animal aid in the Ukraine crisis. You can Google it and donate on their webpage.

I also donated to SOS Children's Villages UK on Facebook before anyone comes at me. Hmm

Ignore them OP! People are twats on here and look to be offended. I very rarely if ever donate to 'human' charities but avoid large animal charities too as they're not good either. I prefer to help small local animal charities, or ones I know personally.

Perhaps contact your local animal shelter who may be able to help ❤️

Jellykat · 06/03/2022 21:48

I've donated to PETA and IFAW.

ScribblingPixie · 06/03/2022 21:48

I used to work for a charity that helped women who wouldn't leave a violent relationship without securing their pets' safety first. Does it occur to people criticising that by giving passage to pets - as Poland have done - or helping those left behind you enable more people to flee the war zone?

Ermm this wasn’t a debate? I wasn’t asking for your opinion (which I may or may not agree with, who knows??) My OP was asking for animal charities to donate to.

@Snooks1971 to actually answer your question, I’ve just searched animal charities Ukraine on Twitter and there’s quite a few threads discussing different options. Might be worth a look!

I've donated to www.four-paws.org.uk/
They have a stray animal care team who have stayed in the country.
I've also donated to UNICEF. It is possible to care about the animals as well as the people!

Snooks1971 · 06/03/2022 21:52

Thanks everyone, lots of good avenues and advice. It’s awful feeling powerless and just sitting here.

But, @Snooks1971 you posted this in AIBU! So how were you not asking for an opinion?

That's exactly why I responded as I did.
