What the hell was Liz Truss thinking!!?

So yesterday in a few interviews Liz Truss said she would support people going to fight in Ukraine. I couldn't believe it when i was watching her saying it, knowing Putins threats. This morning i've heard that apparently Putin has said that her comments are the reason he put his nuclear deterrent forces on high alert. So now it feels like if he was to attack any other country it would be the UK as he would use her comments as an excuse by saying the UK is threatening his country and people by letting people go and fight against the Russian army. Honestly how could she be that stupid!!

She needs sacking.

Putin was making a very clear point. He said at the start of the invasion that if anyone interfered he would respond swiftly and catastrophically (paraphrasing). What Truss did was to encourage citizens from a NATO country to do exactly what Putin warned everyone not to. The stepping up of nuclear deterrent in response is perhaps, to his thinking, proportional.

It needs clearing up, though. No matter how gung-ho politicians seem to be at the moment, this seems like something that needs a public apology and explanation.

He made his point damn clear at the beginning of this. Of course he’s seeing and hearing absolutely everything being said by officials throughout the West and would view this as a clear intervention. She’s literally supporting people from a NATO country getting involved in fighting on the ground.

I’m all for taking this horrible excuse for a human being down and not bowing to his demands and threats, but there are better ways to do so than making silly comments and putting everything and everyone at risk.

There's already 60 British mercenaries and ex combat soldiers in Kiev. Has been for the last few days

Also it's possible that special forces from other countries are involved in some way. Perhaps advising on strategy from afar or even undercover in Ukraine itself.
Of course , we'll never know what's really happening.

No more inflammatory than ww sanctions ( seen as aggression) or arming the Ukrainians ( seen as aggression) or Ursula saying that Ukraine belongs to the EU….. all these will ge seen as act of aggression …… but the works cannot turn a blind eye to this despot indefinitely

So it's okay for her to continue to poke Putin until he blows? Are you for real?

Civilians were given automatic weapons on production of a Ukrainian passport (not sure how much ammo) which has made life on the ground so much worse for ordinary people (I know someone from Kharkov). Criminals have settled scores, there is looting, harassment, food shortages to create a lucrative black market.
The situation is so complex and the media doesn't help with it's Ukraine good Russia bad primary school level analysis. So much misinfo in just 5 days most of which has come from verified accounts.
Unfortunately governments now do media instead of diplomacy. For my sanity I have tried to avoid the whole thing. But now people aren't talking about Boris and his covid parties, cost of living crisis and NHS sell off. I rather think that is the point.

I thought it was very much the Kremlin pushing back from the nuclear comments by Putin and trying to have a more rational base for them.

Liz Truss is a fucking idiot and I've said from the start that if Johnson and Truss are our best people on this, then I sure as hell hope there's some bloody good civil servants shovelling their shit after them.

But I doubt that someone as insignificant as Truss is the reason behind the escalation in rhetoric. Putin looking for reasons to pick a fight, like a playground bully. He's starting to feel the pain of the sanctions and is upping the ante.

Truss does need to shut up though, any fool could see that those kinds of words have potential consequences.

So, Liz Truss apologises - begs forgiveness from the mad man Putin - we quickly find a new foreign minister in the middle of this shit show - and wait for the next reason why Putin points the finger at us again? That sounds better to you?

She’s a bloody liability

Encouraging young men to go and die in foreign war is pretty awful but on the fuck up scale, potentially igniting a nuclear holocaust is pretty high up and a message needs to be sent clarifying the UK's position along with the immediate removal of Truss from her position.
On a positive note I do see this as a positive sign that Putin is looking for a way to deescalate the situation whilst still saving face.

Well hopefully the next foreign minister will refrain from glibly encouraging British nationals to fight in a foreign conflict that could potentially escalate tempers towards a nuclear war. Two in a row can't be that thick, but then this is the Tory party we're talking about.

of course she is not . And i am sure there is a lot going on behind the scenes to help the ukraine that we are not actually aware of .

Putin is currently breaking the Geneva convention ( you will probably see on the news later ) and i think he is just going to do what he wants to do regardless .

She's an absolute bloody idiot and needs to keep her mouth shut, other than possibly reading a retraction statement that is prepared for her.

Those claiming Putin doesn't gaf what Truss says, he is evidently aware of her words, and the Kremlin have chosen to point fingers at the UK because of them. Whether genuinely 'blaming' her or not, the UK have now been made a target in his game.
