The man seems quite incredible. I didn’t know much about him until now but he seems incredibly brave and intelligent. Was just reading an article about how he has been tirelessly and successfully speaking to western leaders to get stiffer sanctions and support implemented, I really hope he remains safe.

the videos of those ukraines standing and singing in front of the tanks is amazing. such courage

I’m sure anyone in power could have a load of shit dredged up about them! We’ve certainly had this in abundance with our own spineless lot! But I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t be fighting on the front line right now like Zelensky is! When the shit hits the fan in this country our leaders grab cheese and wine and the odd university crush!

Zelenskyy won Ukrainian strictly come dancing, voiced Paddington film and now is standing against this mad plan by putin. I can’t admire him enough. I do fear for him, though, and his family, who are still with him, apparently. Putin, meanwhile, has moved his family to a nuclear safe underground city in Siberia. 😳

Cometh the hour, cometh the the man 👍👍👍👍👍

Hmmm, shades of Churchill in our darkest hour

I think Putin is a tad miffed that it is still ongoing and not a walkover

The Ukrainians are giving the Russians a bloody nose and if it does get into street fighting, it is not going to be pretty I.e Think Stalingrad 😔

@Nightlystroll

As I understand it, he was not a great president and struggled to action the election promises he made. He was losing popularity. But I think he's been an amazing leader during this war. He's been front and central the whole time. Even his critics are full of praise for him. And just to add the previous president, Poroshenko, is also out fighting with the civilian defence force.
exactly that - out of his depth regarding the economy but he is a real 'people person' and has genuine integrity.

er, what family? His daughter/s are in the Netherlands, and tbh not much to do with hi. I thought he became a loner and dedicated himself totally to his cause.

If this war was happening here it would be a toss who would take Boris out, us or the enemy. But then Boris would have fled or be holed up in a bunker before the first shot was fired.

What's an "existential struggle for survival"?
Just sounds like tautology to me.

Urbanisation · 01/03/2022 22:10

Stalingrad was an existential struggle for survival. Google it.

Urbanisation · 01/03/2022 22:15

Comparing this pissoir about oil between two multi millionaire oligarchs to Stalingrad is just beyond everything sane.

powershowerforanhour · 01/03/2022 22:18

I don't need to google it. I know what happened. I just want to know the difference between an existential struggle for survival and a struggle for survival.

Might I suggest "How to win friends and influence people" for your own studies. It's a classic of the genre I believe and, although a bit dated, quite a good read. You ought to try it.

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/03/2022 22:37

Ukraine is facing an existential crisis. Sovereign nation? Or Russian colony satellite?

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/03/2022 22:40

Populism 101? Like when the UK voted for Brexit and then PM Johnson?

Oh for goodness sake, what started off as an inspiring thread has decended into a debate about who can quote the more obscure historian or philosopher, and if I may say sounding like bitchy little 6th formers while they do it. Academics can only be trusted to get bogged down in minutiae not to offer any actual advice or inspiration

Exactly so.

Putin liked that. Now we're at tit for tat.

Tigersonvaseline · 01/03/2022 22:46

Putin is not Russia.

Please bear this in mind When posting.

It's still an inspiring thread about an inspiring man.Grin

On another note, has anyone noticed Putin got his botox done before the invasion?
