This is scary. Hearing sounds from the roof. Plus I normally cycle to work and i'm not able to get a taxi 😥

bebarkered · 21/02/2022 04:28

North West (outskirts of Burnley/Blackburn). Very windy and noisy here. Not good for the light sleepers 😕

RedToothBrush · 21/02/2022 04:30

In NW just outside Manchester. This is like nothing else. It woke me at just before 4am. I've had to go look out the windows at the back and front to see if everything is alright.

The noise is insane!

Cognoscenti · 21/02/2022 04:32

Very tame in Yorkshire, the occasional gust but nothing out of the ordinary. Baby has woken so I'm up anyway, but it's been almost silent for the past 20 minutes or so. Was very windy from 10-11pm ish but that was about it!

RedToothBrush · 21/02/2022 04:32

@Justleaveitblankthen

Lancashire here. So noisy. Driving to Manchester airport soon, so will need to negotiate the Thelwall viaduct Shock
Jesus Christ be careful! Is it even open. I wouldn't fancy that. And i dont rate your chances of your flight either. Check before you leave!
StorminaBcup · 21/02/2022 04:33

South Manchester and it’s awful here too. Wind sounds so strong it’s quite frightening listening to it.

Those with flights, perhaps ring ahead and check they’re still on before you set off? I’m not far from the airport, I’d be amazed if any were leaving while the weather is like this.

CrimePodcast · 21/02/2022 04:34

@HPD76

Manchester and it sounds like Armageddon here. I can’t sleep so I’m watching a poor plane trying and failing to land at Manchester airport on flight radar.
Watching it too! Done at least 2 aborted landings.
TwoleftUggs · 21/02/2022 04:51

Lancashire coast. Gave up trying to sleep about 2 hours ago and came downstairs. The breeze blowing through the hallway was so strong I thought we’d lost a conservatory panel or something but no, it’s just blowing straight through the draughty doors and windows. It’s so noisy, much worse than Eunice. That seemed to be a more consistent strong wind rather than the gusty blustery noisy gale tonight.

Cantthinkofabettername · 21/02/2022 04:52

East Mids and it sounds horrible. Need to walk the dogs in about half an hour and not looking forward to it at all.

Redwinestillfine · 21/02/2022 04:53

Northwest. It's horrendous. I have just rescued our milk. I can't believe the milkman came in this!

Cocomelon2019 · 21/02/2022 04:57

North coast of NI here and it's the worst storm I can remember, way worse than Eunice! It sounds like tiles are being ripped off the roof. 10 week old has been up for nearly 3 hours, I'm so desperate for sleep😩

Scoose · 21/02/2022 04:59

Liverpool here and still wide awake I'm so sick of these storms

northwesternskies · 21/02/2022 05:08

North coast of NI here, been up since 3am looking out the window every so often to check for the carnage that sounds like it should be there.
We're in an amber warning until 7am but it doesn't sound like it's going to let up anytime soon. I've never heard wind like it and then the thunder and lightning on top of that. DH and 18 month old DD are sound asleep...HOW?!

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 21/02/2022 05:10

Edge of the North York moors, I woke about half 3 and stuffed the first thing I could find in the rattling letterbox (oven glove) made a cup of tea and am listening to a tile rattling on the roof. It's so loud! How the kids are sleeping through this iv no idea!

CurryLover55 · 21/02/2022 05:11

Mid Cornwall - pretty bad but guessing it’s worse on the coast. I was woken by my stupid leg pain rather than the storm but am now downstairs about to watch The Real Housewives of Jersey.

CurryLover55 · 21/02/2022 05:11

Think it’s starting to hail

TwoleftUggs · 21/02/2022 05:17

Also amusing myself like pps with flightradar. Dublin airport seems quite lively.

TracyMosby · 21/02/2022 05:17

Also north west and it woke me around 4. I'm so tired!

PrescriptionWine · 21/02/2022 05:25

W.York’s/N.York’s border. I am sleeping on the sofa as our attic bedroom is far too noisy!

Wind is whipping past the bay window and down the chimney. DH already snagged the spare room might move to DS bottom bunk soon!

junecat · 21/02/2022 05:31

I am having a new roof which was stripped a week ago. They had to stop work due to the storms so I just have the waterproof felt and no tiles. It's so noisy :(

ListenLinda · 21/02/2022 05:31

West Yorkshire here. This one sounds horrific. It woke DS and i’ve settled him back to sleep but I can’t now. We have a damp patch spreading upstairs, that I think it due to some pointing missing. The letter box keeps banging and the wind is howling down the chimney. Not sure how this is a yellow warning.

mumda · 21/02/2022 05:32

I've come downstairs to the sofa and Chicago med rather than listen to it upstairs. North Manchester here too. Sounds shocking out there.

notangelinajolie · 21/02/2022 05:35

South Manchester and I've given up on sleep and gone downstairs for tea and chocolate hobnobs.
Watching flightradar and yet another plane has aborted it's landing at Manchester Ai0rport - made even scarier by the fact that these planes are flying literally above my house. I can hear them.

Anycrispsleft · 21/02/2022 05:36

I'm in southern Germany and I will be pleasantly surprised if all our roof tiles are still on - could actually feel the house shaking last night.

AllisoninWunderland · 21/02/2022 05:46

Manchester here too and awake with the storms.
I’m so tired of this weather now. It’s getting into my nervous system. I can’t wait for summer 😞
To those thinking of travelling today please stay home unless absolutely necessary 🙏
