I've made the executive decision to not travel to work via train and tram to Salford and am working from home. Work can sod off off they have an issue with it. My safety comes first.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/02/2022 07:32

@MotorwayDiva

North West here too, just checking school closures as don't fancy going out in this, but possibly too early yet.
Our usually chatty head hasn't been on Dojo yet, which is unusual after a holiday.
WellThatsMeScrewed · 21/02/2022 07:32

Yep so much worse than Eunice! Also bloody freezing cold wind.

ABitOfAShitShow · 21/02/2022 07:33

London here and it’s been windy as anything since yesterday. It’s a bloody cold wind too (can’t comment on Eunice as I stayed indoors). Seems the same as Eunice to me - but worse because the wind seems to be blowing directly at my draughty windows and front door this time!

TheHaka · 21/02/2022 07:34

It blocks out all other noise so it’s ideal for me.

GreenFingeredNell15 · 21/02/2022 07:36

I just want it to stop

EmmaH2022 · 21/02/2022 07:38

Me too and it's fecking freezing

Anyone know when it's due to end?! I hate this kind of weather.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 21/02/2022 07:40

Think its supposed to calm down by lunchtime looking at the weather forcast, but thats for N.Yorks so might be a bit sooner for the NW ?

WeAreTheHeroes · 21/02/2022 07:41

North Derbyshire here and this is worse than anything last week. Yesterday afternoon the rain was being blown around so much it was literally like fog outside - it was a blizzard without snow. Two trees came down nearby too.

Mirrorball2022 · 21/02/2022 07:42

@SlipperySlope99

Liverpool here- wind woke me at 5.15, couldn’t get back to sleep so have been up and listening to the howls since then, it’s none stop and raging, no rain or hail though
I’m just outside manchester it’s been raining or hauling what feels non stop since yesterday afternoon! Heavy too.

It depends what you mean by calm down! It drops into the 40mph+ zone from about 1pm and then 30mph+ from about 4pm.

Maybe similar to you?

Rowgtfc72 · 21/02/2022 07:46

Managed to get to work OK on my bike. Currently sat in our temporary canteen at work- it's a marquee in the middle of the carpark and flapping madly!

NoWordForFluffy · 21/02/2022 07:47

I was thinking about you whilst lying awake, wondering if you'd broken the cycling lane speed record!

NoWordForFluffy · 21/02/2022 07:47

Land. Not lane.

Lubeyboobyalt · 21/02/2022 07:48

Storms Dudley, Eunice were pretty much the same up here on a stupid hill in a stupid house I bought on a stupid hill because it has stupidly beautiful views facing stupid sodding west.

Can you tell I regret actively deciding to be so exposed

Franklin has ben the worst of the three. I am grumpy, have a headache, not enough sleep, and I have a rain noise maker and nice earplgus but nothing helped

our brick garden wall is down and shed door ripped in half. God knows what else that's just what I can see without going out.

Ecosralayce · 21/02/2022 07:48

terrible here in S yorks. definitely worse than Eunice. lots of flooding locally, river Don has breached in multiple locations. wind still horrendous. thankfully one route out of the village is still passable so hoping I can get to work (NHS)

MotherofPearl · 21/02/2022 07:48

I agree it's worse than Eunice. I'm in the NW. The wind feels stronger and it's much colder. The rain is unbelievable as well. Feels like a power shower coming at you from all directions at once.

blibblibs · 21/02/2022 07:51

South Yorkshire here and it's been horrible all weekend.
Thankfully half term this week as road to school is closed due to flooding. Unfortunately I still have to drive to work 😔

goody2shooz · 21/02/2022 07:51

We’re in Dorset - I thought the patio door was going to get blown in last night, I could feel the glass flexing….scary stuff. Wind was much worse than Eunice then. Seems quieter this morning but still a pretty angry wind.

blanketyblanked · 21/02/2022 07:52

Shropshire. Definitely worse than Eunice but no warning!!

CJay81 · 21/02/2022 07:53

Same here (Mid Wales), awful winds and such heavy rain. Eunice wasn't as bad. All the roads out are flooded. A village has been evacuated. Was supposed to visit family by train but they are all cancelled. Hoping to go tomorrow but its going to be a huge clear up operation.

Nesbo · 21/02/2022 07:53

Eunice was funnelled along the channel and recorded its highest wind speeds along the South Coast (with the highest being 122mph at the Needles). If you live 2-300 miles North of there (like some of the posters on this thread) it doesn’t seem surprising that it didn’t effect you as badly as a storm which has lower wind speeds but passed much closer.

Try a bit later Grin

We're on 40-50mph winds until 4pm.

SovietSpy · 21/02/2022 07:56

Genuinely would like to know why this wasn’t at least an amber weather warning for the north west. Am in Manchester and the wind is so strong and destructive. There are risk to life flood warnings from last night. M60 shut due to overturned lorry, problems on the m6, multiple train services cancelled. Schools were closed for Eunice in SW but we are making people travel here? My teacher neighbour has already gone to work…. Ridiculous we are making people travel in this weather due to inadequate weather warnings

nothingpunny · 21/02/2022 07:58

Staffordshire here and I think this is worse than Eunice too. I just can't understand why there weren't as many warnings about this storm as there were last week Confused
