To of used my clients loo?

Name changed because this is probably quite outing and I don’t want it linked to my previous posts!
So I’m a cleaner, yesterday I was at a new-ish clients house, she’s got a big home so she’s booked me for 3 hours each time, just before I cleaned her bathrooms I said “oh do you mind if I quickly use your loo before I clean” and she said “hmmm this once but don’t make a habit of it, it’s not very professional”. I did go, because I was desperate but I feel mortified, upset and embarrassed. It’s never even occurred to me that this would be considered unprofessional?! The lady who does my hair, and the one who does my nails comes to my house and they use my loo and I’ve never given it a second thought?!
I ALWAYS use the toilet before I leave my house in the mornings to try and avoid needing to go at clients homes but sometimes I can do 2 cleans before I have my lunch break (4-5 hours plus travel time) and if I’m drinking water to keep my hydrated it’s inevitable I will need the toilet at some point. I know I’m a grown adult and I should of held it and should be able to control my bladder (which I can) but I was desperate and holding it would of made me uncomfortable. Am I being unreasonable?! I’m not sure, does anyone have any tips to avoid a situation like this in the future?

YABU - of course you shouldn’t use your clients toilets!
YANBU - you can’t help needing the loo and should be able to go at a clients house if you really need

@Hshuznw

I know I’ll get slated for this but it drives me nuts.

It’s to have used. Not to of used.

@Hshuznw Why bring this up in the context of this thread? (A woman who has been treated badly by an employer who clearly thinks a cleaner doesn’t deserve to be treated as an equal?)

I like good grammar too, but there are times it’s not appropriate to bring it up. This is one of them.

lisaandalan · 19/02/2022 14:25

She's a Pratt and I wouldn't clean for her again, she thinks she's something special, but she isn't she goes to the toilet like the rest of us
I'd email or message her and say I'm sorry I won't be able to return.

IWentAwayIStayedAway · 19/02/2022 14:25

Well done you for dropping her. Nowt as strange as folk

7eleven · 19/02/2022 14:26

Drop her like a ton of bricks and find a new client.

User135792468 · 19/02/2022 14:27

I would bin her as a client and explain to her why. She’ll clearly be a total cow if there is ever an issue instead of discussing it like a normal human being.

ThinWomansBrain · 19/02/2022 14:27

proposed message is way too polite
& post on social media rather than text/email so everyone can see what a twat she is?

DrDinosaur · 19/02/2022 14:28

Yanbu and I wouldn't have asked. She sounds dreadful, you should drop her and tell her why.

WouldIwasShookspeared · 19/02/2022 14:30

Urgh. I hate this snotty look down your nose servants use the backstairs type of person.

My toilet being sullied by the help! Oh pass me the smelling salts.

You should have left a big floater..
Cleaner here - a relative of one of my customers came by yesterday and brought us home made- still warm - brownies.
Accept nothing less than such appreciation op..

wanttomarryamillionaire · 19/02/2022 14:31

I wouldn't clean for her again, stuck up, snotty cow! Its like all the users on here who wont let workmen use their toilets!

Why on earth would the OP, who sounds perfectly polite and professional, act in such an unprofessional way?

Her message was polite, to the point and professional. Posting as you suggested on social media would only have a detrimental effect on her reputation and certainly wouldn't help her business.

Quantity5 · 19/02/2022 14:33

So glad you ditched her. What an arse

namechangetheworld · 19/02/2022 14:34

She's a bellend. Find someone else to clean for and drop her, fast.

Quiettiger · 19/02/2022 14:35

YANBU. She's batshit. You're good enough to clean them but not good enough to use them?

Ignore her and carry on if you need to go.

GirlOfTudor · 19/02/2022 14:39

I wouldn't even ask. I assume you clean her bathrooms? Just use it whilst cleaning.

Lwren · 19/02/2022 14:40

I'd have shat in the sink if I'd have been spoken to like that.

Yup - build up your client base, then take enormous pleasure in sacking the snooty bitch who reckons it's "unprofessional" for anyone to need to wee while at their workplace.

What does she think staff do in offices? Shops? Hospitals?
All hold their bladders full to bursting til they get home? She's a twat OP, & her stupid remark was nothing more than a dominance display from a snob.

ChargingBuck · 19/02/2022 14:46

Aaaaaaaand - NOW I've cottoned on Blush - well done OP.

Chely · 19/02/2022 14:49

Client is a fucktard

Xztop · 19/02/2022 14:49

Not unreasonable at all!

I once had a carpet fitter do a shit in my toilet. Stunk my house out and didn't even ask to use it. Not gonna lie I was traumatised.
A wee is perfectly acceptable!

woodhill · 19/02/2022 14:51

Absolutely ridiculous, of her, you are entitled to a toilet in your workplace
