To of used my clients loo?

Name changed because this is probably quite outing and I don’t want it linked to my previous posts!
So I’m a cleaner, yesterday I was at a new-ish clients house, she’s got a big home so she’s booked me for 3 hours each time, just before I cleaned her bathrooms I said “oh do you mind if I quickly use your loo before I clean” and she said “hmmm this once but don’t make a habit of it, it’s not very professional”. I did go, because I was desperate but I feel mortified, upset and embarrassed. It’s never even occurred to me that this would be considered unprofessional?! The lady who does my hair, and the one who does my nails comes to my house and they use my loo and I’ve never given it a second thought?!
I ALWAYS use the toilet before I leave my house in the mornings to try and avoid needing to go at clients homes but sometimes I can do 2 cleans before I have my lunch break (4-5 hours plus travel time) and if I’m drinking water to keep my hydrated it’s inevitable I will need the toilet at some point. I know I’m a grown adult and I should of held it and should be able to control my bladder (which I can) but I was desperate and holding it would of made me uncomfortable. Am I being unreasonable?! I’m not sure, does anyone have any tips to avoid a situation like this in the future?

YABU - of course you shouldn’t use your clients toilets!
YANBU - you can’t help needing the loo and should be able to go at a clients house if you really need

How nasty can someone be.
Please don’t clean for her again. Awful woman

LowlandLucky · 19/02/2022 17:13

Dump this client now, she will cause you nothing but trouble.

Veryverycalmnow · 19/02/2022 17:18

What a stuck up/ rude person she must be to call it unprofessional! There was no need for her to say that at all. Of course you use the loo if you need it- you're working there and of course you'll need to go at some point! If you can find new client to replace her, then I think you should and definitely tell her why.

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 19/02/2022 17:27

For gods sake, what a cow! Of course people should be able to use the loo if they need to. Especially if they are at your house for a while.

YouokHun · 19/02/2022 17:27

Yes, @PAFMO’s words are more direct @Cleaninglady47 and your soon-to-be-ex client deserves no more than this. You would also be justified in saying, “Dear Barbara, please shove your Veleda Super Mop where the sun don’t shine”.

She sounds like an ill-mannered twat on a bit of a power trip who is likely to become a nightmare, so a good idea to get rid.

Jellybean23 · 19/02/2022 17:28

She thinks she is better than you. She isn't.

Drop her. And take satisfaction from knowing she'll have more trouble replacing you than you will finding another client. Teach her a lesson.

TheHoptimist · 19/02/2022 17:31

@Georgeskitchen

A work place by law has to provide toilet facilities for their employees Her house is your work place and you are the employee AND you cleaned the bog after. No idea what her problem is!!
Unlikely to be her employee Either self employed or the employee of a cleaning company
LouLou789 · 19/02/2022 17:32

In my area there is a woman who advertises on FB for a cleaner every few weeks. The post is usually sabotaged by previous cleaners of hers who warn everyone else not to work for her. One of their complaints is that they are not allowed to use the toilet. I think your client will find it very difficult to keep a cleaner with that snotty attitude.

Houstonjane · 19/02/2022 17:33

What an awful woman she is, for making you feel bad about using her loo. Its a basic human need, to use the toilet.
How could you do your job effectively ,if you needed to go to the toilet?
This is really horrible, superior behavior on her part. If you can manage without those hours, I would drop her immediately.
All the best to you.

TolkiensFallow · 19/02/2022 17:36

I’m well impressed with you OP!

Crepusculum · 19/02/2022 17:51

Very good call OP - I really like how you told her what the issue was too.

She sounds nasty. Hopefully she’ll reflect, but I doubt it.

Grantingmum · 19/02/2022 17:54

Well done OP. Good for you

Beachbreak2411 · 19/02/2022 18:18

Stupid cow she was!! Just sack her off and tell her exactly why. Stuck up idiot.

JustDanceAddict · 19/02/2022 18:26

I have no problem with anyone using the loo in my house if they come for work purposes.
Nails, trades people etc. my DS’s old guitar teacher always used the loo. I don’t expect people to hold their pee in my house!!

Merryoldgoat · 19/02/2022 18:55

Likewise.

I let the Tesco man use it last week.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 19/02/2022 18:58

@MatildaTheCat

Just wee on her bedroom carpet next time.

seven201 · 19/02/2022 19:41

Well done for dropping her. What a cow! I hope your text has made her realise how out of order her behaviour was.

Travis1 · 19/02/2022 19:54

Glad you dropped her op

IWasFunBeforeMum · 19/02/2022 20:01

What a bitch!

Hankunamatata · 19/02/2022 20:03

She must be of the 2% that voted yabu 🙄🤣

jytdtysrht · 19/02/2022 20:05

What a horrible bitch she sounds. Well done for dropping her.

momamama · 19/02/2022 20:56

The first thing my cleaner does when she comes is go for a wee whilst I make her a coffee, she's here 4 hours every week. The lady you are cleaning for doesn't sound like a very nice person!

BoredZelda · 20/02/2022 16:30

Why would you even ask? My cleaner could be up there having a soak in the bath for all I know. Just use it and don’t make such a big deal about it.

BoredZelda · 20/02/2022 16:31

Lovely to see all the misogynistic language about the client on this thread. 🙄

Wizzbangfizz · 20/02/2022 16:31

What a horrible
Woman.
