South West wales . Very windy here . Can here things being battered in my garden .

SilverHairedCat · 18/02/2022 08:30

I've been out twice in the last 15mins to check on banging noise in the back garden. The first time was just a bit blustery. Thast I've nearly blew me off my feet and I'm very fat and heavy. Huge increase in intensity. I'm in SE Cornwall.

JorisBonson · 18/02/2022 08:32

Picking up here in SE London. Next door are on holiday, I look forward to receiving her kids toys and trampoline later.

Mummylin · 18/02/2022 08:33

In Bournemouth, Winds now picking up, supposed to start getting really bad at 9am. It seems to be getting darker by the minute.

GoldStorm · 18/02/2022 08:35

Storm in a tea cup?

I rather like a good storm and remember the one we had at the end of January 2 years ago, it was a bit epic. Nothing like that this week, some rain, a bit of wind, no storm though. We are just north of London.

Onairjunkie · 18/02/2022 08:35

I’m waiting too. Right on the south coast. I’ve left all my large animals (farm) outside as I think they’ll be safer than in the barn as it’s not brick built, but I’ve got the chickens inside for their safety. Their pets, though, so I’d have them on the sofa watching tv in a blanket if I could but their indiscriminate pooing means I’m not allowed.
I’ve got a tree surgeon on standby and I’ve cleared the yard of all machinery and things. It was a horrible job so a slightly distorted part of me is hoping the winds come.

Mitsouko67 · 18/02/2022 08:36

All calm and pleasant in Dublin.

Marylou62 · 18/02/2022 08:36

Lying in my bed looking out of the window and listening to the wind.. which has picked up quite a lot just over the last half an hour..North Cornwall coast near Newquay...but sunny spells too!

Dishwashersaurous · 18/02/2022 08:36

Nothing here at all. South East.

Cancelled the fun treat of the holidays to be safe and not going to get a refund. So that's rubbish.

Thatsplentyjack · 18/02/2022 08:37

West of Scotland and we've had a bit of slushy snow, absolutely no wind and my weather app says just a little more snow later and some rain Confused

StElwicks · 18/02/2022 08:37

In SW London can hear the wind roaring in the trees on the Common. Really starting to pick up. I remember the 1987 and 90 storms, lived in Bucks at the time. Trees came down, power lines - it was pretty scary I hope it’s not that bad today.

Allelbowsandtoes · 18/02/2022 08:38

Bristol here, looks breezy but not as bad as the other night. Will be cycling to work soon, hoping not to get hit by flying dogs or anything.
I imagine the met office are feeling slightly sheepish today Hmm

DogDaysNeverEnd · 18/02/2022 08:38

The warnings will always be too much or not enough depending on exactly where you are and a little bit depending on how big the storm/flood really is. People die from very unfortunately been in a car hit by a tree or caught trying to cross water deeper than they realise. Ideally noone will be hurt, that's the point of the warning not a reason why the warning shouldn't be given!

Marylou62 · 18/02/2022 08:39

Quiet in Truro Tho! Just had a text form a friend..

Ecosralayce · 18/02/2022 08:40

south yorks here. perfectly pleasent weather at the minute. blue skies. birds singing. slight breeze if anything. kids gone to school, Im off to work....will see what the day brings.....

SoupDragon · 18/02/2022 08:40

SE London here and it's pretty blowy but nothing major.

Playplayaway · 18/02/2022 08:40

My cat usually enjoys a morning wander and sits on the gate post glaring at her cat neighbours, even in bad weather. This morning, when there was barely a breeze, she poked her head out of the back door, sniffed the air and ran back to the safety of my bed with her tail down looking terrified.

This is highly unusual behaviour so I'm following her lead and staying indoors.

Stay safe everyone.

Crochetcacher · 18/02/2022 08:41

Starting to really pick up in the South Wales valleys now, can hear bins etc being blown around, and not even peaked here yet, next couple of hours are going to be the peak. I wouldn’t want to be outside even now!

sparkle17 · 18/02/2022 08:41

If its only just starting in Cornwall then still plenty time for it to build up in other areas.

Worldgonecrazy · 18/02/2022 08:41

Just looked at the webcam to check the harbour where our boat launches from and the waves are huge. I don’t think our boat cover is going to make it.

Mirrorball2022 · 18/02/2022 08:44

Greater Manchester nothing an hour ago but the wind is defo getting up a little and the skies are dark… it’s not supposed to be at it’s worse here till later in though.

Riv · 18/02/2022 08:44

Don’t be fooled. Dudley was active up here and he was only amber at worst. It was due to hit at around 4.00pm. 3.00pm nothing. 3.30 it was breezy, but normal breezy, the leaves shaking a bit type breeze. By 4.30 large trees were falling, fences blown down and low garden walls (single brick width brick and block ) were loosing the top bricks. Two hours after rooves were damaged, parked cars blown across roads and gardens. And no power again of course.

SilverHairedCat · 18/02/2022 08:45

83mph and climbing at Rame Head peninsula, just down the way from me....

SpaghettiArmsMurderer · 18/02/2022 08:46

Can’t see any carnage from my windows in Berkshire but the red warning here doesn’t start until 10am. Next door’s trampoline is still in their garden Grin

Waxonwaxoff0 · 18/02/2022 08:46

Nothing out of the ordinary here in Derbyshire. DS gone to school as normal and I'm on my way to work. We don't tend to get much severe weather here though.
