@kungfupannda where are you in SW? It's pretty windy here, goes calm, then whips up again. Not outrageously so but it is windy! I have air vents and the flowers in my bedroom are swaying in the wind!

Lifeismeh · 18/02/2022 08:19

We’re north east. Woke up to a lot of snow rather than windy storm!
Haven’t taken my little boy to nursery today, we’d manage to get him there but looking at the forecast I won’t be able to get him home!

Then again, I never take risks in snowy bad weather.

thesnailandthewhale · 18/02/2022 08:19

I live literally on the coast and there are repeated warnings not to go to watch the storm, to stay away from the coast etc, yet switch on the BBC news and they have reporter after reporter at various beach locations reporting on the crashing waves Hmm

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 18/02/2022 08:20

@Mommabear20

No wind at all where I am up north! Trees aren't moving at all!
Same - I know it wasn't supposed to hut us that hard up here but I read it would start early hours of the morning. It was quite eerily quiet this morning.
Lunar27 · 18/02/2022 08:20

Bucks here and it's pretty bad. Schools closed today due to a second red warning from the met.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 18/02/2022 08:20

Windy here in Cumbria and we've had rain and hail already. Wind speeds around 30-40mph already.

It's not due to hit us properly until lunchtime with speeds of around 60-70mph, though. We're on the coast so it feels worse, I think.

DetailMouse · 18/02/2022 08:20

An hour ago I was thinking what a lot of fuss over nothing, but it's building here now. Worst of it is forecast for around noon here.

StCharlotte · 18/02/2022 08:21

@FurryGrowler

Wind of picking up here where I am in Surrey
Yup. Food bin already been for a wander. All bins now safely snuggled up in the kitchen. Hopefully being in the office all day will mean I miss the worst of it from a personal safety point of view.

Next door's massive conifer is going mad. Would love to see the back of that! (Don't think it would hit a house)

Benjispruce5 · 18/02/2022 08:22

Apparently it’s getting worse as the morning goes on.

Zonder · 18/02/2022 08:23

This thread is so funny. The terrible storm isn't here yet so it can't be happening! Is that you, Michael Fish?

North-east Somerset, so I'm guessing it just hasn't reached us yet. Seriously, it's more still than it's been in days! The BBC app says we currently have 74mph winds...

Benjispruce5 · 18/02/2022 08:23

Ha ha @Zonder they can’t win!

FuzzyPuffling · 18/02/2022 08:24

It's here. North Cornwall.

Hasselhoffsheadband · 18/02/2022 08:24

It's not here yet! It's still just coming onto Cornwall.

inappropriateraspberry · 18/02/2022 08:25

@kungfupannda the calm before the storm! I'm on Cornwall/Devon border and it's getting darker and trying to rain. 😬 Definitely stronger winds now.

Fedupbuyer · 18/02/2022 08:25

Sun is out in South Yorkshire.

Hasselhoffsheadband · 18/02/2022 08:25

Sorry, didn't mean to cross post with @FuzzyPuffling there, I was more referring to the OP!

BaconMassive · 18/02/2022 08:26

The only storm is a media storm.

nokidshere · 18/02/2022 08:26

I woke up wondering why it was so calm but it's really starting to pick up now. I'm in wiltshire.

nordica · 18/02/2022 08:27

Quite an insensitive thread to start when major damage and danger to life is expected today. Just because you don't see it right now, doesn't mean it's not coming.

I'm terrified my neighbour's huge tree that usually just causes inconvenience by cutting out any sunlight to my garden is actually going to come crashing down on top of my house today. I'm in one of the red warning areas.

AngelinaFibres · 18/02/2022 08:28

@Sparklingbrook

It’s not reached Worcestershire yet.
Or Herefordshire.

Good luck!

Blinkingbatshit · 18/02/2022 08:28

South Midlands here - very blustery but not anything out of the ordinary at all…..am assuming it hasn’t hit yet🤷🏼‍♀️……if not the media have got to stop crying wolf of we’re all going to get badly caught out at some point!!

Rosebel · 18/02/2022 08:30

I went in to work at 3 and it was pouring with rain but has cleared now and hardly any wind. We were told the weather warning was only in place until midday so not sure if or when it'll get worse.

Blinkingbatshit · 18/02/2022 08:30

Dh has just put up the blinds - looks very pleasant, am off to walk the dogs while I can!!😆
