@CounsellorTroi

I’ve also realised my “was that it?” Comment upthread was flippant and in bad taste and I apologise for it.
Flowers Thank you for posting this.

@velvet24

Wasnt that bad and all these schools and other places closed !
Read the room, eh. Hmm
velvet24 · 19/02/2022 14:13

Meant to say wasnt that bad here not everywhere of course

Ponoka7 · 19/02/2022 14:24

The picture is local park were I'd dog walk with my GC. The route to schools also had branches come off trees. I said earlier in the thread about an elderly man being blown over and taking him home.

To be fair to you, you did withdraw it very quickly yesterday and commiserated with others as to what was happening in their location. I don't think you should be hard on yourself.
PickAChew · 19/02/2022 14:52

👍To people who have apologised, Bear and Troi

According to some on Reddit, the storm warnings were all down to Karens. No doubt this flying wheelie bin was, too 😬

SpaghettiArmsMurderer · 19/02/2022 15:11

Just gone out to inspect my roof and noticed NDN’s front gate was ripped off and taken half the wall with it! Fortunately my roof looks ok from the outside. It was creaking a lot!

Have you read any of this thread?
SilverHairedCat · 19/02/2022 15:39

@PickAChew that's an old video from a tornado in Barking. Not from this storm. The poster of the video has just appropriated it.

I thought it was rather odd behaviour for "regular" wind.

Well as long as your own four walls are fine, eh!

Do you watch the news? If not, I suggest you do. Or read this thread.

Your comment mimics any others. You know, fuck the south east and all that. And if that is your take, we’ll that’s fine, I’m not sure anyone will have disturbed sleep over it but maybe lend some understanding to those in the south west instead.

Because it's tone deaf!

So, 38 pages in, you just plonk your (tone deaf) view down?

At the very least, at least have the decency to say where in the country you are. I kind of get it - if you were in an amber or yellow area that wasn’t badly hit, then it probably is annoying. Especially after the last 2 years of restrictions.

But, given you haven’t actually bothered to read the thread, your post is irrelevant. There were numerous people early Friday morning mocking/deriding the warnings. I think most people, for most of Friday morning, thought “what’s all the fuss about?” And then it hit. If it didn’t hit bad where you are, then that’s great. But don’t minimise how it affected those where it did hit.

There have been so many threads re this storm, it’s difficult to keep track of where comments have been made. I hope that Arwen started the process of joined up thinking, which led to better action re Eunice. I hope that, whenever the next storm hits that more lessons will have been learned. And, if they haven’t, then I hope everyone is looking at who runs their LA - it’s not all down to central govt, we all need to start holding our councils to task for their fairly numerous failings.

TBH it's not just the flippancy but the utter lack of any attempt at grammar and punctuation in both of this poster's offerings that offends me.

As in "not only have I offered a half-arsed view on a long thread close to its 1000 post mark, (which I haven't been bothered to read), in which people have talked about their losses as well as deaths local to them, but I can't even be arsed to punctuate my inanity".

Absolutely.

Yet another storm today and tomorrow. Not looking forward to driving to work tonight.

gogohm · 20/02/2022 18:27

@malificent7

It's actually worse now than Friday here

rambleonplease · 20/02/2022 19:56

Yeah it's awful here in London now!

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 20/02/2022 20:00

It's been worse today than Friday for us. It's not stopped raining since around 11 this morning.

PlanetNormal · 20/02/2022 20:00

I’m in Leicestershire and today has definitely been worse than Friday here. The howling gale and sandblasting of horizontal hail at 4pm was delightful. Bored of this weather now. ☹️

Rosebuud · 20/02/2022 21:15

Really bad here too, south east, strong winds, I’m so sick of this I really am.
