I'm up North and a lorry has landed on a car going in the opposite direction near me.

inappropriateraspberry · 18/02/2022 16:45

We've had some respite but seems to be picking up again. Had some hail earlier as well.
It is as bad as the media have stated, power cuts and water issues. Just be grateful if you haven't been affected and I hope it eases enough tomorrow so that we can try and rescue our shed!

That's not going to end well, fingers crossed for everyone involved.

BABA. I thought I recognised the places in your photos so obviously not too far from you.

My parasol has stayed where it should at the moment but there’s still time!

It's a small world! I think it is dropping a little now?

Met office had it right as far as I'm concerned! See photos from very short dog walk. [/quote]
That last one is scary. Looks like it could hit a house when it does go over.

The weirdest thing is no rain, it's quite a blue sky with clouds skating across it of course.
SweetPotatoDumpling · 18/02/2022 16:50

My cat just went out (for a wee I suspect!). He lasted 20 seconds in the garden and was almost blown off his feet...did a very comical 360 roll, and shot back through the cat flap at such a speed, I thought he'd caused himself a concussion! He's now staring out of the patio door looking very nonplussed 😳

Don't think he'll be going out again anytime soon 🤣

It's very, very windy here in Lincolnshire!

Grilledaubergines · 18/02/2022 16:51

BABA and it’s not cold either -given the wind!

No it's not! So strange!
Threewheeler1 · 18/02/2022 16:54

Mum's had a tree down in her garden near Bridport, just missed the car, & apparently a couple of cars were crushed by a tree in the village. No-one hurt thank god. To all those still in it, stay safe.
Still bloody windy & now hail here.

ClaudineClare · 18/02/2022 17:00

It has gone v dark here.

Bearlover87 · 18/02/2022 17:02

@HopingForMyRainbowBaby

It's not too bad where I am. I'm more concerned for my DP who is a haulage driver and is out in it. I keep checking the area he's going to and the wind seems to be getting stronger and stronger each time
Same Sad my husband was up north today...he isn’t getting back tonight but parked up in Birmingham services. He said there was one very scary moment but it’s been ok. His company cancelled all runs down south. I hope your husband is ok x
NeverForgetYourDreams · 18/02/2022 17:03

Dorset was bad all morning. Then it got better. Then an hour ago it kicked off again and starting sleeting .....

seperatedmum · 18/02/2022 17:06

I was going to say it's calmed down at lot in east Herts and the A10 is back open but actually it's got blowy again. whistling windows

BABAHOTEL · 18/02/2022 17:08

@Bearlover87 @HopingForMyRainbowBaby I hope your DHs are home safely soon.

Tealightsandd · 18/02/2022 17:10

Just reading back through the thread.

I'm glad your horse is ok @Onairjunkie

Wishing a safe evening to everyone - human and animal.

Silversprinkles · 18/02/2022 17:18

@Turningacornernow

Slim, small lady neighbour was picked up by the wind in front garden and smashed against the house wall. Covered in blood, is concussed and shocked. I saw them after it happened and husband said she has osteoporosis, so expect broken bones. Poor woman. In A&E now, I can imagine they’re v busy with similar accidents. We’re in SE
How shocking, I hope she makes a good recovery
SoupDragon · 18/02/2022 17:33

@Tealightsandd

It's London so it's all media hype. Bloody soft southerners causing a fuss. Hmm

Salt and vinegar, or ketchup with your chips? (on shoulder).

🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm in London and have been all my life! 😂

SoupDragon · 18/02/2022 17:37

(And I've "called out" posters making genuine snarky comments about London on this thread)

nordica · 18/02/2022 17:37

Local Facebook group now full of photos of fallen trees, broken fences and trampolines in neighbours' gardens. And lots of enterprising posts from local roofers advertising their services. Grin

the80sweregreat · 18/02/2022 17:40

Fence repairers and roofers are big on the advertising today. They will be busy.

UsernameInTheTown · 18/02/2022 17:53

My empty wheelie bins blew over. We are in the Peak District.

Onairjunkie · 18/02/2022 18:05

Everyone is in, except the sheep. They’re fine. Unfortunately the wind has picked up again massively and brought with it really cold sideways rain. It’s so gusty. As bad as it was earlier, it just seems worse in the dark for some reason.

We’ve got cams in the cow shed so I can watch that. They’re not arsed, just standing around eating. I’m in the yard with the horses at the moment. Freezing. They’re ok, taking mouthfuls of hay and then coming to look over their doors to see what all the banging is about.

I'm amazed the horses are not bothered! Unlike our 14 month Doberman who is very upset at her walks being so blowy!
