There was a thread recently asking people to brag about their wonderful kids, it was really sweet!

It got me thinking, what about the homes we love and are super proud of? If you're anything like me your home is your castle and safe haven, and I just KNOW there are people here with ridiculously gorgeous spaces in their homes! (Self confessed house porn addict, love looking online at the new listings locally 🤣)

Soooo show me your fabulous houses, or even just little parts of them you absolutely love, brag about your achievements and hard earned beautiful homes ❤️

@Ribb it’s the best thing ever. When DS is older it will just probably turn into more of a family snug with books and computer consoles etx

My house isn't big and/or grand, but I love it! I really like the old chip shop blackboard in our dining room :)

@CorsicaDreaming

Right - so this is my most happy spot in the house right now. Lovely new bathroom. It makes me happy because...

The old bathroom (we moved in this time last year) was very tired, v leaky ( leaking into the lounge...), didn't have a bath, and was very beige.

I've never done a bathroom before so have admittedly got v enthusiastic about it.

I've missed swimming in the Med and snorkelling and looking at the fish so much for past two years...

So I now have this...

I love the fact you walk up the stairs and it all looks fairly 'normal bathroom' then you walk in and are presented with a whole wall of wall exotic fish. And a darkest blue black wall.

I love having a lovely bathroom after 20 years (our old bathroom wasn't all that either) of very functional bathrooms...

I love that I got all the bits together from all over the internet over a year, and it's just worked. And it is warm - after last winter of being freezing in there.

This is a masterpiece! Truly gorgeous x

Admittedly I'm still half asleep, but read the end of your post as,

"... it will probably turn into a more family snug with books and computer sex..." 😳😄
@CorsicaDreaming, your bathroom is truly magical. I LOVE the wall-paper but also the gorgeous bath.
One more photograph of something I love about our house. The back garden when the hydrangeas are out.
Do love hydrangeas. It's amazing to see so many colours all together - mine always seem to revert to one colour over time (v chalky soil).

@CorsicaDreaming

Adore your sea creatures and the whole feel of you en suite. Where did you get the sea creatures tiles? I can't tell, are they one or did you do it as a jigsaw?

Flatandhappy · 26/02/2022 12:28

My pool if you are interested.

@Furries

My favourite transformation, though, is probably the front of the house. It’s timber-framed, so the old concrete (painted yellow like next door) was removed and then re-rendered with lime.

I then tackled the front garden - the roses were the last thing to do, they were very small shrubs planted early June 2020. One year later, they looked great, can’t wait for them to flower again this year. The smell when leaving/coming home is gorgeous.

Am loving lots of these posts - the use of lovely colours and all of the outdoor views.

@Furries those roses are absolutely gorgeous! Do you know which ones they are? I’m wanting to add more colour to my garden this year and yours looks great Smile
Furries · 26/02/2022 12:51

@Flatandhappy - serious envy here! I’d love a pool (and the weather to go with it).

Furries · 26/02/2022 13:04

@FreyaFromTheFens - they were from David Austin. It was my first time planting roses and I was very impressed with the quality when they arrived.

The dark pink shrubs are Gabriel Oak (these are the ones that give off a lovely scent). The paler pink standard trees are Olivia Rose Austin - you can get them as standards or shrubs.

I’ve got 16 shrubs and 5 standards - the only downside, which I didn’t think about beforehand, is how much time it takes for deadheading!

@DavetheCat2001

We live in a house that needed everything doing to it.

We're dong most of it ourselves so progress is painfully slow, but things like the fireplaces we have uncovered and I restored, have been so worth the hard work (and chemical burn n my hand!).

Wow! And an extra special treat seeing the Before & After -- which is actually an After back to Before. You did a spendid job. What a treasure.

@SonicStars - it is wallpaper that comes in a box of three rolls, so although pricey I only needed one. It's like having a huge aquarium in your bathroom! I love the way there are no repeats on the pattern.

CorsicaDreaming · 26/02/2022 18:01

Woah! It's gone up again! Sure it was "only" £170 a couple of months ago...

SonicStars · 26/02/2022 18:13

@corsicadreaming Beautiful!!

No issues with wallpaper and humidity I take it then

Cool. What country are you ?
Universaldebit · 26/02/2022 18:48

@kavalkada

I don't have a beautiful house with a garden, but a two bedroom apartment in the ugliest building you can imagine. But I love my home. It took me 20 years to finally get it. This is my reading nook where I actually never read because I like to watch it while I read. I know it is just plain, old boring IKEA, but it was all I could afford. I like iz nevertheless and it makes me happy everytime I see it.
Of all the pictures on this thread. . . yours is by far my favourite - that space is simply gorgeous!

Thank you @Furries deadheading roses is so time consuming but does make them look nicer for longer. Need to rethink my planting this spring so might have to invest in some standard roses Smile

I used to be able to show my private island but then I sold it. I don't think I would show the house as it is too personal never mind security risks and we don't even allow google street view on to the road although google earth will show it from above I suppose.

I was doing a contract for someone who goes into gardens to do work the other week and we had lot of discussions about what consents would be needed to take pictures etc.

Furries · 26/02/2022 20:49

@FreyaFromTheFens - what a great garden, some standards really would look lovely in there. Please come back and update if you do this, would be lovely to see.

Flatandhappy · 27/02/2022 10:21

@whysoserious123 We are in Aus. My beloved dad would have said “it’s far from swimming pools you were reared” 😂

Not yet... still stuck firm - although DH managed to spray the wall yesterday 🙄

CorsicaDreaming · 28/02/2022 07:39

@SonicStars - The walls were previously lined with wallpaper but it's an old Victorian and the walls were really cracked behind so we need to get all that off to re-plaster before we can start – and the old paper was stuck so firm it took an industrial steamer to get rid of it.

So I'm hoping with strong wallpaper paste the fish will stay for a good while... time will tell (and not allowing hubby to use shower attachment on the bath again)
