There was a thread recently asking people to brag about their wonderful kids, it was really sweet!

It got me thinking, what about the homes we love and are super proud of? If you're anything like me your home is your castle and safe haven, and I just KNOW there are people here with ridiculously gorgeous spaces in their homes! (Self confessed house porn addict, love looking online at the new listings locally 🤣)

Soooo show me your fabulous houses, or even just little parts of them you absolutely love, brag about your achievements and hard earned beautiful homes ❤️

We’ve recently moved and the house is a mess at the moment, plus we’re on holiday so I can’t post any photos
But, there is a built in cupboard in the spare room, with a full sized door inside, into the next room!
It will be amazing once the house is finished, my husband is a geniuses with diy, it’s always been a case of having to be to save money. And his decorating skills are magnifico! So one day soon, I’ll be able to put a photo on here
In the meantime, here’s a photo of where we are staying on holiday

@Onlinetherapist that hallway 😍

OP you need to join the House Talk by Housfolk group on Facebook. That has everything you need to feed your insatiable appetite for house porn! (Some fab advice too)

Lovely view.

@kavalkada

I don't have a beautiful house with a garden, but a two bedroom apartment in the ugliest building you can imagine. But I love my home. It took me 20 years to finally get it. This is my reading nook where I actually never read because I like to watch it while I read. I know it is just plain, old boring IKEA, but it was all I could afford. I like iz nevertheless and it makes me happy everytime I see it.
I LOVE it.

I love the books, I love parquet floor, I love the colours and the posters.

I'd died and gone to heaven with most of these photos. It's even better than the MN Christmas fridge thread.

@1dayatatime

A friend of mine told me that when she was very little her father (without telling anyone and in full Narnia style ) put a small secret door at the back of her deep alcove wardrobe that then went through the dividing wall and connected to the wardrobe of her sister, so that the two could "secretly" meet up. They both absolutely loved it and used it a lot especially if one was was upset or scared or been "sent to her room "

My friend and sister genuinely thought no one else in the family knew about it until she and her sister had an argument and it all came out, her DM knew nothing about it and it was only when her DF casually remarked that he had put it in years ago for the girls to find because he thought it was a fun idea and something that would bring the sisters closer, that the truth came out.

Apparently her father was quirky but fun.

Wow that's incredible what a thoughtful man!

Love a nosy at other people’s homes. Some gorgeous spaces on this thread…

We moved in lockdown, we live right near the sea on the NE coast, it’s lovely. A couple of favourite spots…

LOVE!

@BonnyandPoppy

We don’t have a library but we do have a waterfall that’s especially full today after all this rain
Beautiful

@teaandtoastwithmarmite

I sound jealous now and I am because I still don't own a house even at nearly 41 Sad
Nothing wrong with renting if you need to lots of people don't own houses 💐

@FitAt50

My little courtyard garden in York. Love sitting out here in the summer.
This is heaven!
CrackerGal · 17/02/2022 10:54

whoruntheworldgirls · 17/02/2022 10:58

@MissConductUS

I love sitting out on our second story deck and having a coffee as I look out over the woods. The cats love it out there too if the weather is nice.
Beautiful! Where in the US are you?
NeverTouchWarmPants · 17/02/2022 11:04

Every photo I've seen I've gone ohhhhhhh. You all have gorgeous homes
@Lovethatforyou are you in a place beginning with D? Just being nosey as saw a similar drinks cabinet on local FB
Absolutely stunning either way

We have a library!

At least, that is what it was called on the original late Victorian plans.

We call it, rather more humbly, the Snug.

We also have a Buttery, AKA the utility room, as not much butter gets made here these days.

LaurenKelsey · 17/02/2022 11:16

Am I the only one who would prefer a small house over a huge palace? I live in a smaller house, 1250 sf, two bedrooms. I love it! It’s very cosy. If I had children living here I’d feel smothered, though.

SockFluffInTheBath · 17/02/2022 11:19

@Joystir59 that view is just gorgeous

kavalkada · 17/02/2022 11:21

@Onlinetherapist

Hallway, bathroom, kitchen..
This is what heaven looks like. And if you have a građen and a utilitarnog room…. Gorgeous. I live in a flat looking at parking lot so to see all those beautiful gardens and views… It looks like heaven. One day I’ll rent a house with a garden for a week or two so I can live my dream.

The buttery wasn't for butter-making, though --the origins of the term are fairly messy and involve medieval monasteries and probably a derivation from the French 'bouteille', but by a few hundred years ago in grand houses, it was a storeroom/cellar for alcohol, and the person in charge of dispensing it was the 'butterer' or, later, the butler. Oxbridge colleges still have 'buttery' bars.

I envy your buttery! Grin

whoruntheworldgirls · 17/02/2022 11:36

@Wagsandclaws

I love our place, it's not a big house but it's a lovely old barn conversion and the first house we've owned in a long time ( we rented for years after losing all our savings to buy and it took quite a few years to save again) .

We've had this place for 2.5 years now and I love it so much. Sorry it's all a bit country twee decor but we did just have a dressing room/study area put into the Master bedroom - it's larger than it sounds tbh 🤣.

Photo taken from my kitchen across our paddock of a dawn moon set, my living room and my bedroom. All other room apart from the kitchen are a bit dull I'm afraid.

I love seeing other people's places no matter how large or small, I love to see different types of houses all over the world. Love the nuclear bunker!

Absolutely gorgeous
Wilkolampshade · 17/02/2022 11:49

@TrickyD, so cool our old house had a dairy, not in an outbuilding but off the kitchen. Still with its huge slate shelves and countertop. I wonder if that's the same as a buttery?
