To ask you to show me your gorgeous fancy houses?

There was a thread recently asking people to brag about their wonderful kids, it was really sweet!

It got me thinking, what about the homes we love and are super proud of? If you're anything like me your home is your castle and safe haven, and I just KNOW there are people here with ridiculously gorgeous spaces in their homes! (Self confessed house porn addict, love looking online at the new listings locally 🤣)

Soooo show me your fabulous houses, or even just little parts of them you absolutely love, brag about your achievements and hard earned beautiful homes ❤️

We had a library in our house elsewhere. It was on two levels of a room and my dh had the shelves added for my books as a birthday present as there were no book shelves in the house when we moved it. It’s a fantastic room and most of the photos have our animals in there.

@crystalize

OP you need to join the House Talk by Housfolk group on Facebook. That has everything you need to feed your insatiable appetite for house porn! (Some fab advice too)
I don't have Facebook but this is almost enough to tempt me to join 👀 !

I’ve NC for this (obvs). After years of dreaming about a lovely big house we finally bought one. The house isn’t as expensive as you’d think because we’re in NE Scotland. 4 bed, lounge, dining room, the playroom, conservatory, 2 bathrooms. Large kitchen. We absolutely adore it!!! But it wasn’t quite to our taste when we moved in (but was totally fine and liveable) so we’re updating as and when energy levels and finances allow. Showing

Just wanted to say I love these kind of posts. Loved looking at everyone's pictures and getting serious house/room envy 😃. Also you get ideas of items,pictures,colours etc to copy 😂. I wish I was braver to be more experimental with colours etc. Keep em coming everybody. I've divorced last summer and new house is nice enough but very bleh compared to some of your stunning places. I'm now thinking of new colours and accessories to try and brighten things up a bit. 👍😊

@crystalize I've just joined the group on Facebook pending admin approval 😂👍

@RedToothBrush

Right. Where are all the people who have children under ten? Cos clearly no one who has posted pics has any or the do and theyve imprisoned them in their bedrooms on pain of death.
I shared the first photo in the thread and you can see: 2yo DD’s nursery art, discarded pyjamas, toy pram wheels, dollshouse and toy suitcases!

My house is such an odd layout after years of previous owners jiggling the layout about.
It's by no means my dream house but I consider myself fortunate to have a roof over our heads so I do t mind that it isn't perfect.

Having said that I have a total of 70cm of kitchen worktop I have to do everything on so some of these kitchens are really making me salivate.

A couple of pictures of my chooks and flowers I'm very proud to have come up

But, my absolute favourite part of my house is the pocket doors between the lounge and playroom. When DS was a toddler there wasn’t a chair between them, and we left them open all day and just threw the toys back into the playroom in the evening and shut the door on the mayhem. These days the doors are closed except if DS is playing in there, or if he has pals over. We open them and can see what the kids are up to, but they can’t drag toys between the rooms. It makes the house an absolute pleasure to host play dates in and have our friends over (most of our friends have had small children in the same timeframe as we have

Oh that's my dream house I love it.

My dogs would make such a mess of that garden but....!

It seems worth the money too, usually these things seem way overpriced

TattiePants · 17/02/2022 13:08

Not posting whole rooms but photos of 3 of the things I love about my home. One of my bookcases, the view from my bed and the bright orange wall that cheers me up.

@Lovethatforyou I'd recognise that view anywhere - I've spent a lot of time on the C & D steps!

MintyFreshBreath · 17/02/2022 13:25

I’m really proud of my new sideboard and bits and bobs i arranged in it yesterday. Not posting it on here though 😂

@MissConductUS

Beautiful! Where in the US are you?

I'm a bit north of NYC.

The Hudson Highlands

What a beautiful location
MissConductUS · 17/02/2022 14:26

What a beautiful location

Thanks, it is lovely here. The area is very historic too, at least by American standards. Smile There were a lot of Revolutionary War battles here, including an incident where the colonists strung a huge iron chain across the Hudson River at West Point (where the military academy is now) to stop the British from sailing up the river.

Here's looking out onto the deck from the living room. Please forgive the boxes, we had a birthday celebration recently. The view is not as nice in the winter when the trees are bare.

The other pictures are the plants I bring in from the deck over the winter. I recently discovered a tiny frog living on the aloe plant. We get them on the deck all the time, so he was a stowaway when I brought the plants in. They change colour to match their surroundings, which is no doubt why I missed him. So there's a bit of North American wildlife for you. Smile

SnakeLinguine, thank you for the interesting 'buttery' information. Appropriately enough, we do keep the booze in there, so the bouteille connection is good. Better than being called the Catfoodery, which also lives in it. Unlike lucky Wilkolampshade, no slate shelves, but a walk in pantry and a boiler/drying room opening off it.
i do love this house, but just got the dreaded email saying our predicted fuel bill for next year is £6983.32. Gulp!

Lovethatforyou · 17/02/2022 15:02

@TattiePants me too - one of my favourite places ever!

[quote Oesro]I recommend you all move up to the north east of Scotland. Look at this! I’ve been eyeing it up this afternoon.

I will probably be able to hear the weeping of londoners from up here: £300k probably only gets a studio flat these days

Oh my, I could actually afford that, as long as I didn't mind never seeing any of my friends and family again (and my job etc) 😂

MostIneptThatEverStepped · 17/02/2022 15:27

@FedUpOfLighteningCrotch

I’ve just had all the fence work out the front done.
Coming along nicely!
Nocaloriesinchocolate · 17/02/2022 15:28

I wont post a photograph but my favourite part of my house is what estate agents would call a single bedroom - very small, but lined with my books and has a very comfortable armchair and footstool, plus a small pod coffee maker that I used to have in my office. It’s heaven.

Wilkolampshade · 17/02/2022 15:29

@TrickyD it was a truly beautiful house in beautiful Cornwall.... but, slate shelves or not, I just wasn't happy there and moved back to smelly old London a couple of years ago. Happy as a pig in shit now in my lufferly, bog standard Victorian terrace 😅
😳 at your fuel bill!!!

2018SoFarSoGreat · 17/02/2022 16:39

My front door, let's in amazing light, my bed and view from my front room at sunset on a stormy day (San Francisco Bay looking orange!)

Such beautiful peeks into all of your homes. Thank you, I've lived this.

Tattie I just love the colour of your wall with that beautiful fireplace. Can you let me know the colour name and who makes it please? TIA.
