There was a thread recently asking people to brag about their wonderful kids, it was really sweet!

It got me thinking, what about the homes we love and are super proud of? If you're anything like me your home is your castle and safe haven, and I just KNOW there are people here with ridiculously gorgeous spaces in their homes! (Self confessed house porn addict, love looking online at the new listings locally 🤣)

Soooo show me your fabulous houses, or even just little parts of them you absolutely love, brag about your achievements and hard earned beautiful homes ❤️

TattiePants · 17/02/2022 18:38

@Thedogscollar thank you, it’s Mid Azure Green by Little Green Paint.

Thanks Tattie your wall has inspired me. This is a great thread so many lovely homes and rooms.

oldwrinklyhands · 17/02/2022 19:28

@pairsinparis Thanks!! I really can't remember I'm afraid, but it only took a tester pot to cover the whole chimney breast!

CorsicaDreaming · 17/02/2022 20:00

@Wilkolampshade - that garden truly is fab. What a transformation 😄

I really want one of those ancient fern / palms.
They look really exotic and prehistoric to me!

Magicmelodies21 · 17/02/2022 20:31

@Onlinetherapist that floor is so beautiful, we have half the original tiles in our Victorian house as some fool of a previous owner decided to take some up to make the hall bigger !! Definitely going to get restored to its former glory !!

PaddleBoardingMomma · 17/02/2022 22:12

@oldwrinklyhands

Current view from sofa
That dusky pink is one of my absolute favourite shades, beautiful x

@CorsicaDreaming, thank you, it was really uncannily tropical in that 1st silent lockdown, when we had that great weather.
I get most of my exotics from these guys:
www.thepalmtreecompany.com/
No frills like posher places near me here in London, but MUCH better value, a great range and delivery to my door.

Curiousmouse · 18/02/2022 08:46

@Wilkolampshade How utterly impressive. I love it

Wilkolampshade · 18/02/2022 09:04

@Curiousmouse ah thx. It was a bit of a distraction really. Half our income is from work which completely dried up in lockdown 1. Horrific, the phone stopped ringing overnight. Spending out on palms and spending all day wrestling with concrete probably not the most sensible move at the time but with hindsight it kept us calm whilst we re-grouped.

Ribb · 18/02/2022 16:18

@TattiePants did you do the garden planting yourself? It looks gorgeous and I plan to recreate!

Great thread.

Two under 10s here too......ensuite stays relatively tidy and feels like a spa. Master bedroom storage feels like a reward after having zero storage in last house!

@Ribb thank you and yes we did. It looked lovely at the time of planting but wasn’t a complete success. We tried to consider how much space the plants would need to grow and bought taller plants for the back / small for the front etc but didn’t get it right (we’re NOT natural gardeners!). By last summer, lots of plants had grown way more than we expected and it looked pretty messy. My advice would be to start off with about half the number we had and really space them out to see how they grow.

You should hang out on the Home Decoration Board Op, lots of photo sharing there!

There's currently a great thread about people who love colourful homes with loads of pictures of stunning interiors!

Thanks for the link @Wilkolampshade - well that's all my birthdays and Christmas presents from hubby sorted for the next few years...
I do love a prehistoric-jungly-Australian fern... and yes those prices are amazingly reasonable... esp compared to SE Notcutts!!

CorsicaDreaming · 18/02/2022 19:36

Right - so this is my most happy spot in the house right now. Lovely new bathroom. It makes me happy because...

The old bathroom (we moved in this time last year) was very tired, v leaky ( leaking into the lounge...), didn't have a bath, and was very beige.

I've never done a bathroom before so have admittedly got v enthusiastic about it.

I've missed swimming in the Med and snorkelling and looking at the fish so much for past two years...

So I now have this...

I love the fact you walk up the stairs and it all looks fairly 'normal bathroom' then you walk in and are presented with a whole wall of wall exotic fish. And a darkest blue black wall.

I love having a lovely bathroom after 20 years (our old bathroom wasn't all that either) of very functional bathrooms...

I love that I got all the bits together from all over the internet over a year, and it's just worked. And it is warm - after last winter of being freezing in there.

@CorsicaDreaming that wall is a masterpiece! I am drooling. Really well done. Congratulations.

Furries · 18/02/2022 21:28

House is in the process of being decorated, so there’s not much that is in a fit state to be photographed!

Not quite finished here yet, but this corner of the living room is probably my favourite spot in the house. The fireplace had been covered over, I love it.

Furries · 18/02/2022 21:42

My favourite transformation, though, is probably the front of the house. It’s timber-framed, so the old concrete (painted yellow like next door) was removed and then re-rendered with lime.

I then tackled the front garden - the roses were the last thing to do, they were very small shrubs planted early June 2020. One year later, they looked great, can’t wait for them to flower again this year. The smell when leaving/coming home is gorgeous.

Am loving lots of these posts - the use of lovely colours and all of the outdoor views.

@stuntbubbles

I love how no one is sharing Grin

OK, I can’t crop out ALL the mess, and it’s not ~fancy, but it was bloody hard work to get it from bed bugs, cigarette scent, Artex and a window that leaked every time a cloud went by to this point. And I do love the colour of the fireplace.

::Awaits collective judgement for boasting::

This looks so nice and cosy! I love the dolls house and the orange jug.

Thanks 😊
I just love looking at those fish!

Ruthietuthie · 19/02/2022 00:07

@CorsicaDreaming, your bathroom is truly magical. I LOVE the wall-paper but also the gorgeous bath.
One more photograph of something I love about our house. The back garden when the hydrangeas are out.

@Furries, what a beautiful house. And your roses are gorgeous!

Ruthietuthie · 19/02/2022 00:09

@Ribb, your ensuite is AMAZING. Like a spa. I love it.

Ribb · 19/02/2022 10:54

@Ruthietuthie
Thank you Smile
Every single time I sit in the bath and can see out to (forest / reservoir) I feel glad that I ----argued convinced DH to have a bath and shower in the ensuite. It has a frosted glass barn door also which makes it feel even more zen!

Ribb · 19/02/2022 11:33

@Aweefatcat
What I would give for your playroom setup!

@Weedoogie I keep going back to your library set up and wondering if I can do similar in open plan between kitchen and dining area. I absolutely love it!
