Chippy tea

If your other half said, do you fancy some chip shop chips on the way home from work-both if you in the car.
You pull up and he goes in, you stay in the car as you've not got a coat and it's a wait outside situation.
He come out
Having bought you and his son chip but himself a massive cod and chips.
Would you be pissed?
It just feels like a proper reflection of how he views "us"
I said that's selfish and he said it was absent minded.

OP posts:
CambsAlways · 12/02/2022 21:30

If I was asked if I wanted a chippy tea, my hubby would get us both fish and chips he would never ever get himself fish and chips and me just chips that’s just weird

BearOfEasttown · 12/02/2022 21:32
Confused
PegasusReturns · 12/02/2022 21:35

He’s selfish. It’s time to leave.

@Anklebiter999 stop being so fucking tedious. Threads where posters are distressed over poor treatment in their relationship are not the place for crap attempts at snark. Go be childish elsewhere.

sanbeiji · 12/02/2022 21:35

@Silverswirl

And also.. what’s he going to do afterwards? Sit there happily munching down a whole cod whilst the rest of his family have just chips. Who the hell even does that? God some men can be utterly entitled pricks. Makes my blood boil
See, the issue isn't even him only ordering a cod. It's that he sees nothing wrong with eating it while everyone else has only chips! WTAF. Sorry OP why the hell are you even with this piece of **. I can put up with a lot of things from a partner but never, never a lack of empathy and leaving me to starve, while he feasted. Never. im so angry on ur behalf

Exactly. A chippy tea involves fish!

I'd be pissed off op.

sanbeiji · 12/02/2022 21:36

sorry @Silverswirl* i was agerring with you, didn't quite come out right sorry but it's been 3 glasses of wine already

cherish123 · 12/02/2022 21:36

Did he ask you what you wanted? I would have made sure he knew what to get

@PegasusReturns Cuck off yourself
Anklebiter999 · 12/02/2022 21:45

@PegasusReturns Yes, I did mean cuck, because why use abusive language? Why is paying attention to language childish?

Jewel52 · 12/02/2022 21:45

If it’s a one off fine but if he generally focuses on himself then I get your irritation

MrsWinters · 12/02/2022 21:51

If you wanted more to eat wouldn’t you tell him? You thought you were getting chips… you got chips…. You didn’t want cod until you saw his?

Gwenhwyfar · 12/02/2022 21:54

@PurpleDaisies

If it’s a massive cod, just share it.
I was going to say that the portions are usually massive in chip shops, but then I thought I'll get people accusing me of 'competitive undereating' because I can't eat a huge fish and chips.
Gilly12345 · 12/02/2022 22:06

Is he normally thoughtless?
Is he stingy with money?
Did you not tell him what you wanted?

Toothsil · 12/02/2022 22:11

Mine would always ask what I wanted, I can't imagine him not.

Did you read ops updates? Its not unusual for them to get chips and do something to go with them at home, ergo if he asked would you like some chips rather than what do you want, its surely not unreasonable to assume, as it isn't unusual, that the plan is to get just chips.
RussiasGreatestLoveMachine · 12/02/2022 22:16

The people defending this are either mind-bogglingly selfish and inconsiderate themselves, or are so ground down by selfish partners that they seem to need to convince other people it’s OK to put up with this.

Gotta feel a bit sorry for them.

And if people could just ignore the tedious derailer, rather than give it oxygen, it would be much appreciated. Smile

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 12/02/2022 22:29

He's an arse OP, but you know that already. So what are you going to do about it?

PinkSyCo · 12/02/2022 22:37

OP I don’t know who mainly does the cooking in your house, (though I could hazard a guess) but when you next cook do yourself and your son a nice plate of steak, chips, mushrooms etc and plate up DH some chips only. When he complains say “Oh did you want steak? Oh I’m sorry darling, but you really should have asked, you know how absent minded I can be.” [Tinkly laugh].

georgarina · 12/02/2022 23:04

Yanbu

Thelnebriati · 12/02/2022 23:10

Life is too short to waste it with someone who pulls stunts like this.
If he asks 'do you want chips' its fair to assume hes' getting chips, and you shouldn't have to think about how to carefully word your answer just in case he actually meant something else.

FrustratedTeddyLamp · 12/02/2022 23:12

Reminds me of a friend's partner who when he asked what she wanted from the chip shop she said fish and got no chips

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 12/02/2022 23:14

Its incredibly selfish of him

I’m sorry 💐

Nat6999 · 13/02/2022 04:49

I would have been happy with chips & curry sauce. Cod is so expensive now, so I am happy with just chips or maybe a fishcake.

DropYourSword · 13/02/2022 05:11

Whose or who's...
your comment would be more effective if were you were able to differentiate between them and then use appropriately

How ironic the pedant made errors in their post!
What the poster was saying was perfectly clear @Anklebiter999 < that's a tag, by the way Their comment was perfectly effective.

2catsandhappy · 13/02/2022 05:52

Oh and serve his divorce papers inside a bag of fish and chips. As he likes extras so much.
