To ask what you’re doing awake post-midnight? Part 2: Insomnia Strikes Back

5YearsLeft · 05/02/2022 11:24

Bit awkward to start this in the middle of the day, but I wanted to be able to link it on the old thread before it completely fills. Meanwhile, even though right now it’s not post-midnight, if you’re having a day-after hangover from insomnia, feel free to post. Whether it’s from poorly children or babies or pets or OHs, whether it’s grief or fear or anxiety or other losses, whether it’s work stress or home stress or just LIFE stress, we get it. You’re not yelling into the void; you’re sharing with people who have been stuck wide awake, too.

@5YearsLeft the contemplation is knowing I should end it, but not doing it..

Youlittlerascal · 18/03/2022 06:46

Have been awake myself since 2.30am. Bad night of sleep and just worried about things. Not a nice feeling.

Youlittlerascal · 18/03/2022 07:05

Purpleme
You are so brave. I understand your situation and predicament. This too will pass and hopefully better days for all of us here tonight who are struggling with lack of sleep. Thinking of you x

purpleme12 · 18/03/2022 09:27

@Youlittlerascal
Thank you so much
And everyone else

I was really looking forward to a day on my own tomorrow to try and relax but looks like I won't get that now either

catwomando · 19/03/2022 06:58

Well that has to be a first -no one posted overnight. Either we are all sleeping soundly (unlikely given our past form), or we were all too tired.

I hope it was the former.

Anyway, however your night was, I hope you have a good day.

MrsGlum · 19/03/2022 07:28

@catwomando I’m now posting less because I’m having to rely more and more on tablets to get sleep. The AD withdrawal insomnia is turning my brain to mush so I can’t keep up with only getting 1-2 hours a night. I hate taking the sleeping pills but it’s now the only way I can function even minimally during the day.
I may need to start cutting back on the sleep pills as GP only prescribed limited number so I’ll probably be back on here nightly before too long!
Hope @5YearsLeft is ok as she usually opens the thread.

5YearsLeft · 19/03/2022 10:23

Sorry everybody forgot to open the thread last night and now it’s time to shut it. Husband is sick, he tried very hard not to pass it to me as he has a cough, and that would be incredibly dangerous for my breathing, but… he passed it to me anyway. So everyone is pretty ill over here and I’m not QUITE in danger yet but I’m pretty poorly. Immunosuppression is crap.

I do hope everyone was okay last night, and I’ll try to at least make sure I open the thread tonight.

@MrsGlum Sorry to hear things are so rubbish right now.

@purpleme12 I hope you’ve gotten some sleep, even with all the stress. Don’t let the bastards get you down.

@catwomando I know, I know, forgot to open the bloody thread grumble grumble Grin

Hello and welcome to another edition of the not nuked by MN, not forgotten, post-midnight thread. If you have anything keeping you awake (grief, pain, worry, stress, a billion other things, or just insomnia) this thread is for you. Feel free to share, scream, cry, vent - whatever you need the thread to be.

I missed opening last night’s thread due to my extra illness (extra fever and coughing) and this one is a little early because I’m awake now and who knows where I’ll be in an hour.

Hi

I hope it hasn't progressed too much and made you really poorly @5YearsLeft?

I'm still here surviving!
Neighbour been ranting about us but before I could get the phone to record it it had stopped of course
But otherwise we've had a good day earlier

ImNotDancing · 20/03/2022 01:37

Hello! Wide awake again. I didn’t manage to drop off last night till it got dark. I was out and about today so thought I’d be tired but nope :/ this just isn’t sustainable

Wallywobbles · 20/03/2022 06:28

Barbara and crevette moved to their new home yesterday. Very sad but definitely the right thing to do.

This is when they arrived.

They've moved very close to one of my best mates who will visit them. My sheep also know her!!

5YearsLeft · 20/03/2022 08:51

@purpleme12 I’m a little rough. I really can’t sustain a cough at all. My muscles just won’t do it. And my breathing is already not so great, so it’s a bad combo. I slept most of yesterday except when my coughing woke me up. Sorry your neighbor is still being a twat; I know it’s no surprise, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still awful.

@ImNotDancing Sorry about your sleep! I know it really can be so annoying.

@Wallywobbles Oh no! No more Crevette stories and pictures? Well, that’s a blow. And I’m sure about 1000x harder for you than any of us. I do hope Barbara and Crevette are happy in their new home, and sometimes the hardest decisions are still right, though I know they can still feel like shite.

This one of our weirdly colored lambs. She's not very beautiful but I've never seen a caramel one before.

5YearsLeft · 20/03/2022 14:39

@Wallywobbles It’s a lovely picture, and eh, all of us are a bit weird here, so she fits right in. “Are you sure that’s normal?” should probably be one of the mottos of the thread.

catwomando · 20/03/2022 20:10

Hey everyone. I had a rubbish night last night but was too tired to post. Awful stomach cramps, then I threw up. Stomach finally settled and then my hip pain kicked in. FFS. So tonight I'm taking a sleeping pill and hope it knocks me out.

Got my appointment through for the meno clinic -august!!!!! GP thought it would be within a month. I really don't want to wait that long so will probably pay for a private consultation.

@Wallywobbles It's a fond farewell to the sheep. We will miss them. It must be like your babies leaving home 🥲

@5YearsLeft I do hope you are OK. Being immune compromised is no fun at all. Hopefully with spring coming you will start to feel a bit more sprightly. And I do hope that you get to go to a gong bath. Xx 😘

Wallywobbles · 20/03/2022 20:24

Honestly Barbara was more like a dog than a sheep. Best cuddles ever.

purpleme12 · 20/03/2022 23:57

@5YearsLeft I hope today hasn't been too bad for you and you've managed to rest

The sheep are so lovely

5YearsLeft · 21/03/2022 00:05

Hello all and welcome to the after midnight thread. If you’re awake for any reason, this thread is here for you. You’re not alone.

@Wallywobbles I’m so sorry. You make it all look so amazing, even when it’s so difficult.

@purpleme12 Cough not going so well. Slept alllllll day. Probably going to sleep allllll night.

I have a blood test in exactly 7 hours. Is it bad I’m almost hoping they throw up something that’s actually wrong with me that can be treated rather than being stuck with my Long Covid diagnosis

5YearsLeft · 21/03/2022 08:22

@ImNotDancing I don’t think that’s abnormal at all. It’s very normal to want something that’s just straightforward and can be treated and someone can to you, “You have X. We treat it with Y. You’ll be all right in Z amount of time.” Even if X is something not too wonderful, at least it would be something concrete. You may even find yourself feeling slightly envious of people with X style diagnoses, who just know they get Y treatment, and it takes Z. I’m sorry; as I know it really can be a bastard to be an outlier. I know Long COVID feels lonely right now, but in the coming years, I do think we’re going to see millions of people diagnosed with it, and we’ll start having studies and acceptable modes of treatment, so you’re just a little ahead of the pack, unfortunately.

5YearsLeft · 21/03/2022 20:04

Hello and welcome to an extremely early opening of the after midnight thread (I’m coughing and having trouble breathing so I’ll either be asleep or in hospital at midnight). If you are dealing with grief, loss, anxiety, stress, work, illness, pain, other issues, or just insomnia, this thread is for you.

Please feel free to share, vent, cry, or rage about whatever’s keeping you awake (now or whenever midnight arrives).

I know we’re reaching the end of this thread, so I’ll start a new one tomorrow.

OP posts:
ImNotDancing · 22/03/2022 00:51

So my blood test got cancelled because I was two frigging minutes late. Yet last week I sat there for an hour past my appointment time because they were running late 🙄

catwomando · 22/03/2022 08:02

@5YearsLeft you sound like you're really struggling (you are master of the understatement so I'm guessing you are pretty poorly). Hopefully you will be reading this from the comfort of your bed, rather than a hospital bed. Sending (unmunsnetty) huge hugs to you xx

@ImNotDancing that's pretty shitty. How quickly can you get a new appointment?

I had a good sleep, with the sleeping pill (only woke up 4 times Confused).

Last night slept ok as I'd done 13k steps, repointed the patio, 2 loads of washing, rearranged the garden, cooked a moussaka, and a done a dance lesson (an energetic cha cha cha this time Grin). If I hadn't slept after that then it would have been baffling. So all I need to do every day to sleep is to just be active for 15 or so hours........!

Sending happy vibes to everyone today and healing vibes to everyone who needs them x

purpleme12 · 22/03/2022 08:10

Thinking of you @5YearsLeft and hoping you're not too bad

ImNotDancing · 22/03/2022 10:39

@catwomando booked in for Wednesday now, I’ll get there super early 🙈😹
