To hate my lounge carpet? Honest opinions on my lounge carpet that was laid yesterday

We wanted something neutral but practical as we have two dogs. So we chose this one which was laid yesterday. Because its two tone it looks totally different in my lounge than it did in the showroom! We even took a small sample home!

My heart sank when the fitters left. It looks like it can't decide what colour it is..it's a kind of mink at night and during the day it has a silver/grey look to it. We had the same carpet laid in our bedroom which looks stunning as our bedroom is a champagne/ dark brown theme. But in the lounge against the pastel colours of the ottoman and mauve curtains I just don't know what to think. Honest opinions please and also some ideas on tweaks on what I can do?

Im exhausted thinking about the replacement carpets and flooring. Id like an ottoman instead of a coffee table as a result of the thread.

Evanted76 · 06/02/2022 11:38

Well it's sorted.

In lieu of all the issues I have chosen a new carpet for the lounge and its ended up costing me next to nothing.

And they're using the lounge carpet to replace the measurement mistake in the bedroom.

Surprised at how marmite my ottoman is!!

Glad you got it sorted OP Smile

Glad you’ve reached a suitable resolution.
Fwiw I thought the overall look was a bit ‘old peoples home’ but I do think it’s the combination of tones being similar but the furniture not matching.

ApolloandDaphne · 06/02/2022 12:10

What colour did you go for @Evanted76?

mandoforever · 06/02/2022 12:18

Oh well done op, I'm pleased you sorted out with minimal cost.
What colour did you choose?

Evanted76 · 06/02/2022 12:44

@ApolloandDaphne

What colour did you go for *@Evanted76*?
I played it safe and went for a pale neutral colour with no two tone in sight!

For those asking for details on my current carpet, apparently it's been discontinued now although they can still order it in. Its Tapi carpets Aspire range in Spanish Ochre.

Apparently @Evanted76 replied to this at 12:44 but when I click through to the thread the post isn’t there?! Confused

I'm overly invested now in the carpet and the dogs. I know exactly how stressful it is , albeit first would because it's expensive and so risky until it's down. I'm saying that as I stare at my practical yet horrible, accusing chocolate brown carpet.

TatianaBis · 06/02/2022 13:13

One tip I found for our TV room is a couple of washable runner rugs in front of the sofas catches marks and preserves the carpets - if you're worried about the dogs.

Vloggamammy · 06/02/2022 15:48

On ottoman like this with matching(ish) throw for sofa would look lovely!

Flooring contractor.. i think it looks nice, if you really CANT live with it ask your flooring company for advice, they may be able to resell if not used for too long, put the credit they give you towards a new floor, you will probably lose 60/75% of what you paid, and will have to pay for new carpet/installation not underlay as they will leave in situ.
Look at Cormar for some nice cool neutrals and if you want something more plush maybe Natural Elements.. Sedna do some lovely carpets and for budget i reccomend associated weavers Orion carpet. Good Luck

SerenaB12 · 06/02/2022 19:42

Oohopz.. just seen you sorted well other MMters Sedna/Cormar and Associated Weavers do great carpet 🙈

PickledOnionSandwich · 06/02/2022 19:45

@roses2

Get a giant rug to hide it? Sorry can't help but I agree - it looks like someone has hoovered it in all different directions
That’s what I thought too. So that’s the actual carpet effect?? 😬
