Neighbour stole my delivery?

Eleanr · 31/01/2022 19:26

Have NC as I don't want this linked to my other posts. Could be outing.

I ordered a £600 item online. Normally when I order expensive items I have to give a code, which is sent via email, to the delivery driver.

I was out today and got an email to say my package had been delivered. There was a picture included, which was very obviously my neighbour.

I thought, great, that's fine! We often take parcels in for each other. When I went to collect it from her she denied all knowledge. I was a bit flustered trying to take the dogs/ shopping inside so I just said "oh okay there must be some mistake" and went into my house.

Now I've looked closer at the pic just to make sure and it's definitely her house, she must have jt!

What would you do? I don't want to accuse her of stealing, but.... ?

Hope there isn't another neighbour with the same carpet! Although her reaction would suggest she's suspicious!

BlowDryRat · 31/01/2022 21:09

Unless there's another neighbour with exactly the same door and carpet, they've blatantly nicked it. I bet they have a sleepless night worrying about the police and leave the parcel on your doorstep in the early hours.

Santahasjoinedww · 31/01/2022 21:09

Report online to the police...

TheOnlyMrsMac · 31/01/2022 21:11

I once received notification that my item had been delivered to us at our home address. I was at home and no-one had knocked. I thought it must had been left in one of our 'safe places' and searched those - nothing. I was worried that it had been stolen, possibly by the courier or a passer-by. When I checked the photo, they had just left the parcel out in the rain on the doorstep of completely the wrong house. Luckily I recognised the house, went round in the dark, and the parcel was still there - they were still out at work. Anybody could have taken it. I complained to the courier company - it was a new courier, apparently. Not the same situation as the OP's at all, but mistakes do happen. I think our neighbour would have passed on the parcel anyway - at least, I hope so!

🤯

ArrrMeHearties · 31/01/2022 21:12

Show your neighbour the picture and then ask for your parcel back

latetothefisting · 31/01/2022 21:13

So is she identifiable from the photo, or is it just her feet and carpet Grin

I agree she's a cheeky (and stealing and lying!) fucker, but if you don't get any luck (and I would actually contact the police!), if the delivery company shouldn't have delivered without a code, you should also be able to get your money back from them/your credit card company as an alternative.

Trillio · 31/01/2022 21:13

Holy moly, how effing rude!

latetothefisting · 31/01/2022 21:14

her excuse that that was an old photo is ridiculous too as the company will have all the metadata which shows exactly when it was taken if you need to go down that route.

Ozanj · 31/01/2022 21:16

Amazon / Delivery company will go after her for items over £100 or if not the drivers who get personally impacted may do. I hope she’s prepared for that - neighbour at my old place got blockaded in by 10 dpd drivers for doing something similar until he gave them the iphone / ipad parcel lol.

Imtryingveryhard · 31/01/2022 21:17

I have a neighbour who does this. Thankfully not with our deliveries but another neighbour is having a terrible time with them. They accept deliveries and don’t pass them on despite photographic proof. The nice neighbours have ring footage of the horrible neighbours throwing items from their garden into the (private) street if they find them left on their doorstep. So childish and unnecessary. It definitely does happen unfortunately. My neighbours have had their items replaced and the company/police are investigating. Can’t wait until
I’m asked to accept a delivery for the grumpy neighbours!

Gazelda · 31/01/2022 21:17

Did she really think you'd shrug and not pursue this?!

I'd stop messaging with her now. Leave it in the hands of the supplier/delivery company.

Ozanj · 31/01/2022 21:18

I would discretely knock on doors and warn other neighbours about what she’s doing.

MummyJasmin · 31/01/2022 21:18

Cheeky mare.

Im2022 · 31/01/2022 21:21

I’m so embarrassed for your neighbour! What an idiot. I would put a note on all your deliveries from now on telling couriers not to deliver to that address as they stole one of your items.

I hope you get your item back.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 31/01/2022 21:21

The thieving mare!

OnaBegonia · 31/01/2022 21:22

@CoffeeRunner
An old photo can't be used,
it must be taken live, there's no way to add a previously taken photo.

EL1984 · 31/01/2022 21:23

I recently had two separate deliveries (a laptop and then a phone, both for work) and was emailed a code to give to the driver. Neither of the drivers asked for a code 🙄

CPDubs · 31/01/2022 21:24

@Eleanr I would act as soon as possible, contacting the retailer.

Working in customer care we’ve had this lots of times and the delivery company will usually send the courier back to the house that accepted the parcel to discuss it with them directly! You could try contacting the courier company yourself but they won’t usually do anything as the contract is with the retailer.

BigYellowHat · 31/01/2022 21:24

Outrageous!

saygeronimo · 31/01/2022 21:26

Shamelessly following this thread to see what happens with the CF neighbour Wink

Santahasjoinedww · 31/01/2022 21:26

Shame her on fb.

GettingItOutThere · 31/01/2022 21:27

oh shes a cheeky fucker isnt she!?
any reply OP?!

LaBelleSausage · 31/01/2022 21:28

I would love to know what excuse she's going to some with. Eagerly following for updates
