Hi all,

I've been on here for ages - name changed for this as I want it separate to my usual account.

My DP has gone away overnight for a course, he says he told me about it ages ago but I have no memory of this. We were chatting on WhatsApp and while he drives he uses a voice to text feature. We had a normal conversation up until I got a message that said the following;

'I'm waving at Stonehenge for you, it's very misty'

I asked what he meant, he said he meant he was waving at Stonehenge for me as it's cool and it's what people do. I said I'd never heard of this before, and asked if he meant to message someone else saying 'I'm waiting for you at Stonehenge...'

He's insisting that he meant he was waving 'for me' at Stonehenge, which sounds really weird to me. Is this a thing that I've just not heard of?

I'm a bit worried that he was trying to message someone else and sent it to me instead, and his voice to text changed 'waiting' to 'waving'.

Am I being paranoid? He's just changed the subject entirely after doubling down that he meant he was just driving past Stonehenge and that was quite cool. He's a great bloke and I have never had any reason to doubt him until this very moment. I just have a horrible feeling he's fibbing...

Can anyone reassure me that I'm just being a silly old bint??

We've been together on and off for almost 2 years.

When in the past i have taken my son out and messaged OH saying waved at Blackpool Tower for you. i do think you have issues within your relationship you think this is red flag that you need to look at. As others have said stone henge isnt really a meeting place and why if he was meeting someone there would he say it was misty as they would be able to see. Maybe that is why he didnt take a picture.

NameChangesforNoman · 26/01/2022 18:54

Could he have been wanking at Stone Henge? It is lovely.

crackofdoom · 26/01/2022 19:13

Of all the least hospitable places in the whole of the British Isles to have a wank, Stonehenge has got to be up there in the top 10. Although possibly the summit of Snowdon would pip it to the post…

God I’m loving this thread 😆

Did you mean "walking"?! I mean, I'm a big fan of Stonehenge too, but...
aSofaNearYou · 26/01/2022 19:27

I think this was a perfectly normal thing to say when driving past Stone Henge, sounds like he was just trying to be sweet.

SecretKeeper1 · 26/01/2022 19:53

Have they moved the car park @LadyFlumpalot? I went 10 years ago and it was just across the main road.

OP glad you were just being daft, I think it was sweet of him to think of you and a perfectly normal thing to say/do when driving past a landmark.

You’re thinking of Bonehenge

Oh yes, they closed off the road that turned off the A303 just before/after the dual section and moved the carpark and visitor section back half way to Larkhill. Car parking circled in black in the attached picture. It's a good mile or so away across fields now, or you can take a coach.

Yes I just looked, Google maps says it’s a 1.8 mile walk, wow!!

DustyDood · 26/01/2022 20:09

Last time I went for a wank around Stonehenge I met a Druid who was also out for a nice long wank.
We had a good chinwag, speculating on how those men of yore must have done it, tugging their big rock hard columns for miles across dale and valley to then erect them at the site for all to see. Simply marvellous.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 26/01/2022 20:43

There usually a Druid type hanging around.

I waved at two swans on the mill lodge today.

PossiblyDreaming · 26/01/2022 21:21

@DustyDood I have never seen anyone wanking around Stonehenge. I must have been doing it wrong.

OrlandointheWilderness · 27/01/2022 07:55

You don't seem to trust him. Any particular reason for this? This comment is incredibly innocuous.

colourmebladd · 27/01/2022 08:10

I have read the full thread but wanted to say - it would be a strange message to send if he WAS meeting someone.

Far more likely to say ‘I’m here, I’ve parked next to the visitor centre’…. Or something. Especially if it’s misty!!

I do like a bit of literary porn first thing of a Thursday morning.

Keeps me young.

Was wondering why this thread was still going 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ploppy1322 · 28/01/2022 10:01

I think his explanation sounds plausible tbh and I wouldn't have thought anything of it but I'm also a believer in trusting your gut

2022newyrnewme · 28/01/2022 10:24

Haven’t read all the thread yet..but my first thought was the non remembering of the trip..then the last min stay with his friend..and your gut is normally right? Apologies if that’s explained further on
I’m sceptical after my x ghosted me after 5 years and now don’t believe anything. I hope you’re wrong

The easy way to find out what has happened by the end of a thread opened eighteen pages earlier, or whether the OP has come back and explained anything, is to click on "see all" at the bottom of the first message, and see all the OP's posts. There are fewer of them than of the whole thread, so it is easier to catch up.

People should be made to learn this before they’re allowed to post. It’s like the “which shop was this?” thread. Solved on page 2, yet there are still suggestions on page 487 (ish)
