OH and I just cannot sleep in the same bed comfortably and I can't take any more disrupted nights. We have a regular Ikea double, with a divan with drawers underneath and we share one King size duvet.

We are both very light sleepers, apparently I now snore (due to failed IVF weight gain I think), he tosses and turns all night and often prods me awake if I'm snoring. We both wear ear plugs, I wear a sleep eye mask. I've spent the past two nights on the sofa freezing, desperately trying to get some sleep.

So, what are other couples doing? I'm thinking King size bed? Two single beds/mattresses pushed together? Zip and link mattresses? Two single duvets Scandi style? OH won't consider separate beds or separate rooms (not that we have a spare room) which I get, but I need a solution!! The solution is not getting rid of OH, before that gets suggested Smile Please share your amazing bed set up - sleep situations, TIA xx

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 23/01/2022 17:52

Superking size zip link, one side soft one side medium. One duvet.

Si1ver · 23/01/2022 17:53

I have a super king and it's the way forwards. We sleep comfortably and there's spare space for when a scared child/dog needs to join us. Best thing I've ever done

MintyGreenDream · 23/01/2022 17:54

Superking and two double duvets

Wife2b · 23/01/2022 17:55

Superking all the way if you have the room. Plus separate duvets. I doubt you’ll be able to go wrong then 😁

ImInStealthMode · 23/01/2022 17:56

We only have space for a standard double. If we had the room for a king (or dream of dreams, a superking) we absolutely would.

And I'm certain DP would still chase me around it all night. He's a cuddler, me not so much BlushGrin

dudsville · 23/01/2022 17:56

Seperate duvets.

King size bed.

An agreed way for him to let you know you're snoring. I lay a hand lightly on my OH and he wakes enough to mumble "sorry" and turn over.

Warm bedding easy to grab for the odd sofa night.

We do these things and it's made us much happier.

KirkstallAbbess · 23/01/2022 17:56

Got a super king twenty years ago (now on our second), never looked back - absolutely love it!

QforCucumber · 23/01/2022 17:57

We bought a kind 6 years ago, and have just ordered a super king - I absolutely cannot wait

RunningInTheWind · 23/01/2022 17:58

Superking - and I’m single! No way on god’s green earth would I want a fella snuggling up to me in a standard double! Grin

ditherwood · 23/01/2022 17:58

Oh wow such fast replies thanks so much, so Superking and two duvets looks like the way forwards, thank you all! Flowers xx

A king size bed night help a little with tossing and turning, it isn’t going to help with snoring and consequently being prodded for snoring. I can’t see how zip up mattresses or separate duvets would help at all.

I am afraid I only have found the solution you have ruled out. Separate rooms.

DeckTheHallsWithGin · 23/01/2022 17:59

Superking. Hate sleeping in a double!

ditherwood · 23/01/2022 17:59

WowIlikereallyhateyou thanks, I need to look more into zip and links, I think it sound perfect having different bed softness, less likely to be bounced around by OH too as he thrashes Grin

Cuddlemuffin · 23/01/2022 17:59

Superking here for us with one duvet although two sounds nice. Both snore and silicone earplugs are the only ones that work.

Caughtavibe · 23/01/2022 18:00

There is no way DH and I could sleep in a double.

In fact the last holiday we had we came home early because we were so exhausted after sleepless nights being stuck in a double!

He does snore. There are times I make him go in the spare room for a night or two so I can get a couple of decent nights sleep.

ditherwood · 23/01/2022 18:00

To be honest Aprilx I'm not averse to separate rooms

Yes, you certainly dont have the movement found on one mattress.
MintyGreenDream · 23/01/2022 18:01

My friend has an Emperor bed I think its 7 ft wide! That should do it

Chickychoccyegg · 23/01/2022 18:02

I've got a super king, it's amazing, it's actually like being in bed on my own, because there's that much room, we haven't needed separate duvets, it's just great, you'll never look back if you get one!!

Nitgel · 23/01/2022 18:02

We have a king size bed and two single duvets. Any bigger duvet would fall off the bed Grin the mattress is firm so we don't disturb each other.

ditherwood · 23/01/2022 18:02

MintyGreenDream two double duvets? Does it get at all unmanageable having two doubles? I was wondering what size to get..

Holy shit, this is a brilliant idea. Cats would love it, too.

Off to suggest to OH now (bagsy I get the top one).
