NC because this is outing

Say you went to a sibling's wedding where the bride had handmade all the favours and they were various little felt animals.

The bride gave you a cow, your OH a horse, and your

I would LOVE that as a favour! That is so sweet!

MeSanniesareBrannies · 21/01/2022 15:58

@SNUG2022

If the one given to me was a cow, I'd think you were calling me a cow. I wouldn't ruin your wedding, but would think WTF. I wouldn't think ass and pig for a child meant anything.
Are you joking or is this genuinely what you’d think?
MeSanniesareBrannies · 21/01/2022 15:59

This thread made me chuckle. Currently planning favours for our wedding and animals are definitely going on the list.

Your SIL sounds unhinged.

stuntbubbles · 21/01/2022 16:00

Could you send her a follow-up gift to smooth things over? Several bats and a box of frogs.

BobHadBitchTits · 21/01/2022 16:02

Can we see a photo of what you made?

I'm intrigued.

MeSanniesareBrannies · 21/01/2022 16:02

@Kite22

Guest is clearly deranged and very, very over sensitive and bride has touched that nerve

BUT

Bride is also clearly completely bonkers. What on earth made you think guests at a wedding would want to be given a little felt animal ?? Confused

I’d LOVE to be given a little felt animal! And so would the majority of the other posters, it would seem.
3scape · 21/01/2022 16:03

The IL. Sounds like she was trying to create some drama. How tedious you're stuck with her as a relative. Personally I'd be putting cows on everything to her going forward and 'pretend' it's a new joke between you. But I'm not popular Wink

Squirrelblanket · 21/01/2022 16:04

The guest is obviously insane.

The animals sound cute! Do you have any photos? Smile

SleepingStandingUp · 21/01/2022 16:05

@SNUG2022

If you got traditional sugared almonds would you think she's calling you sweet but nuts

No, just what a waste of money Grin. You can't give a woman a cow. It's an obvious insult.

Only if your oversensitive and don't like the other person. If this was someone you liked surely you'd just laugh about it? Oi are you saying I'm a cow lol not think omg that bitch just offended me on purpose
girlmom21 · 21/01/2022 16:06

Why would she think a horse meant her husband was an ass? Sounds like she's projecting Grin

MeSanniesareBrannies · 21/01/2022 16:07

@girlmom21 😂😂😂

Rosebuud · 21/01/2022 16:07

Lol op, I can see both sides, the favours are lovely, but I can see why when you list the other favours why she might have taken you giving her a cow and her kid a pig she might have thought you were having a dig. It was just unfortunate choices of animals.

On a seperate note I’m not sure giving her the horse would have went down much better 😂

bjjgirl · 21/01/2022 16:08

I now want to felt, please link good you tube tutorials!

Oh and yanbu! You can't argue with crazy just let them go

well she is clearly nuts.

But you have to live with her in your family for ever so

Write, apologise that they were offended and that you were in no way intending that, rather you had thought hard about baby would like, and thought the little animals would entertain baby through the speeches.
I would express sadness that you attempt to make something nice for baby has been so misinterpreted.
Say you hope she liked the jewellry and the experience voucher

Then leave it with her.

That way you have done the right thing, but framed it in a way to make it clear that you are not nuts (and she is)

SleepingStandingUp · 21/01/2022 16:15

@girlmom21

Yeah, I'd be wanting to know how my SIL knew he was so well endowed
whatwouldsueheckdo · 21/01/2022 16:16

What a lovely and personal idea for wedding favours. I’d be extremely touched op, whatever animal I’d received!

Mind you I’m still offended about the time PIL gave SIL a little miss sunshine gift set, and me My Messy Grin

thisplaceisweird · 21/01/2022 16:22

I think she was feeling a little insecure and sensitive at the wedding. Spotlight on her sibling instead of her and her baby for the first time in a while perhaps?

Anyway, they sound adorable OP. I would love a little felt pig.

thisplaceisweird · 21/01/2022 16:23

How about this for a follow up 'apology gift'?

Would this offend you?

Mumsnut · 21/01/2022 16:33

We need pictures!

Fatarseflanagan09 · 21/01/2022 16:33

You took the time to make them, I think it’s lovely and quite special, some people look for things to be offended by.

maddy68 · 21/01/2022 16:38

What??? Of course not. I might make a joke about it but definitely would not be offended
(I do think it's a bit weird for a favour though?)

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 21/01/2022 16:39

Well, looks like it wasn’t wrong then.

Dixiechickonhols · 21/01/2022 16:39

The favours sound sweet and all different to suit different people. You did animals as you thought baby would like them. I wouldn’t think too much about it. If she brings it up I’d just say you made them as a little fun favour for the wedding and thought baby would like it and did she like the real gifts you gave?
