Apologies, OP.

Yes, she's insane. Unless there's a back story.

stuntbubbles · 21/01/2022 15:46

You said sibling’s wedding — is this your sister or your SIL who’s crazy?

RitaFires · 21/01/2022 15:48

I would find felt animals as favours strange but I wouldn't assume they were intended as a dig unless I already had a poor relationship with the bride.

Were you aware how highly strung this person was before you made the favours? They may have found another excuse to kick off if they're a certain kind of person so don't be too hard on yourself about this.

FayCarew · 21/01/2022 15:48

I'll have a dog please. It can be male or female

ByeByeNye · 21/01/2022 15:48

OP that's so beautiful and thoughtful! For my wedding everyone is getting the same favour 😅 I love that you put so much love and thought into yours ❤

To be honest though, I think this guest done you a favour by cutting you out of her life, she sounds like an awful piece of work. You deserve better Flowers

SNUG2022 · 21/01/2022 15:49

Yes, my SIL would definitely get a female dog.

AppleKatie · 21/01/2022 15:49

I think she’s overreacting hugely.

However in that situation is my sil made me a cow I would assume she didn’t like me yes!
It would have been more political to give her the horse and your brother the cow or pig.

FayCarew · 21/01/2022 15:50

MIL would get the cow

DoTheMerengue · 21/01/2022 15:50

I’d kick off big time. In fact I’d probably overturn the table and storm out.

Ovenaffray · 21/01/2022 15:50

I wouldn’t give a woman a cow.

And she clearly thought you were saying she was a cow and her baby was a pig.

Is there history between you?

SNUG2022 · 21/01/2022 15:51

And horse doesn't mean ass, but big cock.

SleepingStandingUp · 21/01/2022 15:51

@SNUG2022

If the one given to me was a cow, I'd think you were calling me a cow. I wouldn't ruin your wedding, but would think WTF. I wouldn't think ass and pig for a child meant anything.
If you got traditional sugared almonds would you think she's calling you sweet but nuts??

@OnlyFoolsnMothers

I mean aren’t all animals offensive if you’re reaching.

This is a reverse?

What does a reverse mean?
SleepingStandingUp · 21/01/2022 15:53

Is there back story here about poor relationships or you usually being PA? My sister would totally give me the cow one and I'd love it. If anyone else gave me the cow I might JOKE about it being personal but I'm not so fragile that I'd ASSUME it was an insult

SNUG2022 · 21/01/2022 15:53

No, just what a waste of money Grin. You can't give a woman a cow. It's an obvious insult.

DoTheMerengue · 21/01/2022 15:54

You really should’ve gone for neutral animals like aardvarks or maybe koalas.

Staffy1 · 21/01/2022 15:54

That’s too funny Grin
What other animals were there? I could understand if everyone else got swans and snow leopards.

Saucery · 21/01/2022 15:54

I wouldn’t think you were calling me a cow, no. I’d be touched you had used your time to hand make the little favours and the family farmyard set would probably end up on the mantelpiece as a cute reminder of the day.
She sounds like incredibly hard work. Did she expect you to go “Ha, YES, I am calling you a great big COW, what are you going to do about it?” when she confronted you? Confused

SNUG2022 · 21/01/2022 15:55

But yes, if my best mate gave me a cow it would be funny, but my SIL and I hate each other, so a cow would speak volumes.

toppkatz · 21/01/2022 15:56

I wouldn't give a woman a small cow ornament, no. Especially not if her name's Daisy.

stuntbubbles · 21/01/2022 15:57

Last wedding I went to we got given little knitted butterflies (dunno why). CLEARLY the bride and groom were calling us FLIGHTY

FishGoBloop · 21/01/2022 15:57

There's no history, we've known each other a long time and I've always considered her a friend in her own right, not always seen eye to eye but we've never had a serious bust up. It's a pretty normal in-law relationship. She has a tendency to go hot and cold though but I definitively would never have considered her/BIL to react this way to the favours. She is so dedicated to her baby that I honestly thought she would love the farm set and it'd be a fun entertainment for DN through the speeches. I just thought kids that young learn about animal sounds from farm animals and so it was a good idea :( I swear I didnt mean anything by it.

Guest is clearly deranged and very, very over sensitive and bride has touched that nerve

BUT

Bride is also clearly completely bonkers. What on earth made you think guests at a wedding would want to be given a little felt animal ?? Confused

Sparklesocks · 21/01/2022 15:58

I wouldn’t be offended no. The favours sound quirky but sweet.
I once got a wedding favour which was an enormous snow globe with a picture of the happy couple inside. Not sure if I was meant to put it on my mantle!
