... to be disappointed at 25th Wedding Anniv Gift from DH?

OhhMeOhhMy · 21/01/2022 08:04

... A 2 day stay at a really really nice hotel/spa with highly rated restaurant for me and my DSis.

First world problems I know :(

But I still feel unhappy enough about to NC, and make a post. On the positive side I have mentioned wanting to go there in the past. I do get on with my DSis (we're close, but she is not my best friend)

Don't know what I was expecting really, but not this!

AIBU?

@Cocomarine

The husband doesn’t know her sister has been sexually assaulted.
OP said there’s nice restaurants and that so sister could go and enjoy the room
And sister company

MichelleScarn · 21/01/2022 11:46

@Horriblewoman

What a thoughtful man knowing that your sister is going through a tough time.

And why does being in counselling stop her being able to go to a spa?

Who's the friend you want to take instead? You've not even said you'd take him!! 😆
Pasithea · 21/01/2022 11:46

I always choose and usually buy my own presents.
Saves on a lot of heartache. In the past though he has organised trips and given lovely presents. But after 30 years and the fact that he retired and hasn’t got a group of lovely women to work with , who came up with lovely ideas , he’s stumped.

UniBallEye · 21/01/2022 11:47

I certainly wouldn't be impressed with this at all as a gift for our 25th wedding anniversary!

I don't blame you for being disappointed. It's not that a hotel break is a bad gift, it's more that it is really strange for your dh to give you a break away but without him.

We usually go away around the time of our anniversary and we love having time together like that. I would be incredulous if my dh told me to go celebrate our anniversary with my sister!

It's very strange.

I think he really got it wrong.

Cocomarine · 21/01/2022 11:47

So you’ve already been away to celebrate together, you got him fuck all and his gift was very thoughtful toward your sister as well as a place you say is good, so nice for you.

I repeat: you got him fuck all

This is right up there for ridiculous dripfeeds and being utterly unreasonable.

You should be ashamed of your lack of gratitude.

You got him NOTHING!!!!

ilovemybeachhut · 21/01/2022 11:48

grapevine Thanks, I did read the op's update and she is coming across as bu. My comment referred to me wanting to spend time with my dh, not what op is doing / complaining about.

Cocomarine · 21/01/2022 11:48

@UniBallEye you might want to read the update. They’ve a already just been away together for the anniversary.

And no matter what you think of this gift, go see what OP got him? 🤣

^This sums up this thread really well.

Fair enough!
Cocomarine · 21/01/2022 11:49

AIBU to think people should automatically be banned from whinging about anniversary presents, if they got their partner nothing? 🧐

OneTC · 21/01/2022 11:49

Something like a ski trip maybe Grin

Yep. This sums it up for me. Poor bloke!
BIWI · 21/01/2022 11:50

AS is quite a useful tool.

Just saying ...

Cocomarine · 21/01/2022 11:51

And what a lovely man, to think of your sister when he knows she’s not well.

crazyjinglist · 21/01/2022 11:51

YABVVU, given the update!

So, to sum up... You've already been away with him for your anniversary. You weren't expecting another gift. It's sonewhere you'd actually said you wanted to go. You can go with anyone, it doesn't need to be your sister. You got him nothing!

I'm actually baffled as to how you can possibly be disappointed or annoyed about this Confused

UniBallEye · 21/01/2022 11:51

Yeah, I've just read your update and I am changing my vote from to YABU!
Seriously, that's some drip feed! You've had the romantic couples break to celebrate and now you're complaining about this extra trip he has taken the time to book for you? You need to cop on a bit.

I'm firmly on team husband here now

WhateverHappenedToFayWray · 21/01/2022 11:51

I was with you until your update and now not only do I think YABU but I'm actually really confused as to what you actually want. Would you have preferred he not get you anything at all because you didn't get him anything? I honestly have so many questions, this is a very strange thread.

Cocomarine · 21/01/2022 11:52

Interesting, I tried earlier and got nothing! Thought it was a name change, too. What am I missing, “AIBU to think these diamond shoes are too tight?” 😂
OhhMeOhhMy · 21/01/2022 11:52

Not meant to be a drip feed, rather a rushed post I should not have made. I'll be switching to my usual user name and not posting anything else on the thread. Bye :)

Your husband sounds wonderful, I'll have him if he bothers you that much, you can be spared the horrors of TWO luxury trips to celebrate your next big anniversary 🙄

I found nothing except this thread!

AryaStarkWolf · 21/01/2022 11:53

It's a really good present imo...

UniBallEye · 21/01/2022 11:53

@OneTC...I know....I read the update after i'd posted. Serves me right! I've changed my vote now too

Well that's the most annoying update, ever. What the fuck is going on? 🤣

If it had remained with posters berating him and poor you....would you have stayed.
