Does anyone really believe that Boris Johnson has suddenly had to go into isolation? How many times over the past months has he blithely disregarded various rules and guidelines as it suited his agenda? Now he's under a bit of well-deserved pressure, and oops-a-daisy! he's in isolation.

The really depressing thing - about Trump in America, Boris Johnson here, and crass right-wing populist idiocracy in general, is that it will have no effect on voters, bar a little disgruntled muttering. We've created a society in which the scum, not the cream, rises to the top. I dread to think what the next couple of decades are going to be like.

Well, if it's the case that Sir Keir Starmer also broke the covid rules last year as well , then it's clear that the PM will keep his job or Starmer will have to step down or both of them will hope it'll blow over in time and they can both carry on with the general tit for tat politics for a few more months yet.
It would be a bitter blow for the LP if it's found that he is just as bad as our PM and wasn't able to follow the rules of last years lockdown.
It will end up in stalemate with them both saying it was a work event and both will wriggle off the hooks.
I wonder if the LP will ask for a full enquiry into why he was there? Will Angela Raynor come out and ask him what he was doing breaking the rules ? These photos have been around a fair while too and the ' reform ' party have great pleasure in showing it on u tube of the top ten rule breakers during lockdown as well.

A picture, taken through a window, of a few people having something to eat and drink is getting a bit desperate. How do you even know if it was after work or whether they were working late.
One or two on this thread seem to be at work though!

jgw1 · 14/01/2022 14:03
**@jgw1* Could you help me out with a few more details of this event in Hartlepool. Presumably it was while we were during Step 2 of the roadmap out of lockdown since it was before the by-election.*
Where was it and how many people attended?

Event was after work on Friday 30th April 2021 at Durham Labour Constituency office. At that time we were in step two of the roadmap out of the third lockdown, with indoor mixing between different households prohibited. You could gather indoors for work but this specifically excluded social gatherings with colleagues. Hospitality venues were closed indoors, with outdoor groups limited to six people or two households and required to be seated to be served food and drink. I don't know how many people attended, but photos (several are available) show at least six enjoying food and drink.
@jcyclops Thank you for the clarification. Do you know if invitations were sent out in advance for this shocking event?

Are there other events where the Labour leader shockingly ate food?
I know Miliband had a thing with burgers.

Alexandra2001 · 14/01/2022 20:19

@jcyclops A by-election you say? Party leader comes to support the local constituency membership vs 14 Downing street parties, including 2, yes 2 parties on the eve of the Prince Phillips funeral, for which Bojo has been forced to apologise (again) to the Queen.

We have to accept one of these parties was in fact a "work meeting" so its more than justifiable to extend the same curtesy to Starmer? or would you rather Boris wasn't at work but in a boozy piss up c/w with his wife and child, nibbles and cheese?

17 and counting now Alexandra

the80sweregreat · 14/01/2022 21:34

He may well be hiding in the fridge they had delivered over lockdown according to the DM tonight !
Boozy Friday's were encouraged.

Alexandra2001 · 14/01/2022 21:40

@DuncinToffee

17 and counting now Alexandra
17??? so thats why i saw a "We need a bigger Sue Gray" meme...

Prob been asked before but why is Bojo isolating? he is fully jabbed and there is zero requirement for him to do so just for being in contact with a Covid positive relative.

Drivingbuttercup · 14/01/2022 21:48

We've all known he's a lying sum bag, but people voted for him knowing what type of person he is. What baffles me is why are people up in arms about it now. He didnt exactly have a rosy past. I'm just not one bit surprised.

sonypony · 14/01/2022 22:14

When he was supposed to isolate as a close contact, but didn't want to, he tried to wriggle out of it with a 'workplace I don't isolate trial'.

Someone got drunk on the suitcase booze and broke Wilfred's swing? Hmm

The people up in arms are those who didn’t vote for him.

Plus people who didn’t quite believe the scale of his scum laden approach to everything.

ThinWomansBrain · 16/01/2022 18:59

Prob been asked before but why is Bojo isolating?

Clearly still doesn;t have a scooby what the rules areGrin
That and wanting to avoid being called a pillock to his face (not that that's not just kicking the can down the road.

the80sweregreat · 16/01/2022 19:12

He is Probably drying out somewhere.
Just a guess , no idea where ' big dog ' is.

Iggly · 16/01/2022 21:19

Boris is ultimately a coward. An insecure coward with no actual convictions. He just says what people want to hear and when he’s found out, he runs.
I suspect that’s why the party culture developed - he couldn’t face actually the hard face to face conversations to say they couldn’t party etc so let them do it.

I also suspect he’s an alcoholic.

the80sweregreat · 17/01/2022 06:56

According to bbc radio four today, MPs ( especially up north ) haven't had a really bad response to this story and it's generally ' stop these people reversing brexit ' oddly enough
I still stick by my prediction that they will all get away with it and eventually this story will fade away even after the inquiry ( maybe a few civil servants might lose their jobs?)
Only going by today's news, but that's how it sounded. We all know that Sue Gray won't find out too much.

Wow! Our MP clearly had stock responses and acknowledged the level of anger (she’s a conservative).
