Does anyone really believe that Boris Johnson has suddenly had to go into isolation? How many times over the past months has he blithely disregarded various rules and guidelines as it suited his agenda? Now he's under a bit of well-deserved pressure, and oops-a-daisy! he's in isolation.

The really depressing thing - about Trump in America, Boris Johnson here, and crass right-wing populist idiocracy in general, is that it will have no effect on voters, bar a little disgruntled muttering. We've created a society in which the scum, not the cream, rises to the top. I dread to think what the next couple of decades are going to be like.

Well why would he change the habits of a life time look how far they have gotten him?

its tory voters that really piss me off, they knew what they were voting for, they cant plead ignorance he's been a politician for years and a shit mayor of london who messed up public transport, took credit for Kens bike scheme and cost us a fortune with his vanity bus and bridge while he cut our services.

the80sweregreat · 13/01/2022 18:53

He was actually quite popular as London mayor ; god knows why!

I think it was because Livingstone was such a miserable git.

Nancy , probably !!

ThinWomansBrain · 13/01/2022 19:10

I was just thinking about starting a thread to see if I was alone in thinking that the Chinese spy thing was just to deflect interest away from Boris' party working evening meeting in the garden with BYOB from Tesco Express.

Am also wondering what he's got on the Queen to force the Prince Andrew move.

ThinWomansBrain · 13/01/2022 19:13

I used to love Drop the Dead Donkey - it was brilliant

the80sweregreat · 13/01/2022 19:13

What about our PM and his ' Russian' connections?
That's another rumor that often crops up too!

It is hardly a rumour. Johnson appointed to the House of Lords a Russian whose father was an officer in the KGB.

It was. Also had such a crush on Dave and Joy. Not sure you'd get away with it now.

Not in my neck of the (London) woods. I remember feeling dismayed when he won the election

'I was just thinking about starting a thread to see if I was alone in thinking that the Chinese spy thing was just to deflect interest away from Boris' party'

Well surely it would have been released days ago if so, not actually the day after PMQs and his apology once it was all dying down?!

I don't think MI5 would go along with made up crap tbh.

Yep he is the fridge. And they have brought out the 'Chinese spy' story to deflect.
Yes! And the resignation of Van-Tam as well and the news about cutting self isolation, also the Palace made an announcement about Andrew (this one was clearly a coincidence)

DH has commented watching BBC News at 6 that Sophie Raworth was clearly in a hurry to get through ALL today’s news and to leave some time for BoJo. She managed to do this by 18.15.

MI5 wouldn't go along with it.

But IDS made sure it was a story today by talking about it in the House.
Who does IDS get money from, whilst being responsible for taking money from some of poorest and most vulnerable in our society?

greenlynx · 13/01/2022 19:40

@ThinWomansBrain
You are not alone, 2 votes for this from our household.
I don’t suspect Palace though.

Barry Gardiner is on LBC now - struggling with a few awkward questions.

Lib Dems mentioned here as well;

She also donated £5,000 to Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey in 2013, and in 2014 she helped sponsor a Chinese Liberal Democrats dinner to support the party’s then candidate for Somerton and Frome, Sarah Yong.

@clavinova Have you had time to watch the Downing Street briefing from 20th May 2020?

Here is a short clip of it, only 18 seconds long.
What is Oliver Dowden saying?

@Clavinova Would you agree to me that any MP, or indeed member of the House of Lords who knowingly accepts or seeks to accept money from overseas is not fit to be in our parliament?

MadeOfStarStuff · 13/01/2022 19:49

100% it’s bullshit, he just wants to avoid public criticism, he thinks if he brazens it out for a couple of weeks he’ll be able to brush it under the carpet

Have you had time to watch the Downing Street briefing from 20th May 2020?

Yes - it doesn't say anything about meeting people at work - at least 30 people in my local supermarket at the time.

VelvetChairGirl · 13/01/2022 19:52

@Clavinova I am glad that finally you have had time in your busy working schedule to watch the briefing. What did it say about meeting other people outdoors?
