Young woman murdered running, what sort of world is this?!?

A young woman was murdered yesterday in Tullamore, Ireland while out for a run at 4pm. It is not a dangerous area, she was on a popular route along the canal, in day light! These things just do not happen here. I am in total shock. It was a random, unprovoked attack. It's just so awful, 23 years old her whole life ahead of her. She was a teacher so had probably just finished work for the day and wanted to de-stress.

AIBU to think this poor girl should have been able to go for a run on a lovely winter afternoon safely? I know I am not BU just don't know where else to post. I am truly shocked and horrified.

Earrings and lipstick you said

"You're funny (except you're not). And it's been explained to you clearly why your ideas are both wrong & diminishing of women's rights.".

It hasn't been explained to me clearly. You said something and I disagreed with you.

I then pointed out to you that female-only train carriages have already been implemented in countries across the world. For women's safety.

You haven't responded to that fact yet. What's your response?

Yebbie · 13/01/2022 22:42

@EightWheelGirl No, it's not, at all. Nobody is denying there are good men out there. I have a husband, sons, brothers. I am grateful for that man every day of my life. None of the men in my life change the fact that there is a huge issue with crimes against women and not enough is being done. The fact that not all men is trending is gut wrenching. Not all men, but so many. So often.

Dottybackorcid · 13/01/2022 22:42

@Anotherviewtoyou so none were female? Prove it and have a biscuite while your looking.

Yebbie · 13/01/2022 22:43
@Yebbie How can my argument be invalid with statistics that back it up. Your just one of those hysterical haters Grin
Yes the statistics show that more men are murdered than women. I haven't denied that.

I'm saying that these men are being murdered by men. So men are still the issue here. Your argument that men are more often the victim is invalid because they are almost always the perpetrator.

Dottybackorcid · 13/01/2022 22:44

@Cocomarine look up up the statistics yourself there online, the time it took you to reply to me I'm sure you can find them 🥱

Kanaloa · 13/01/2022 22:45

@Dottybackorcid

May be some of the lock all the men up on here should actually look at official statistics. In 2019/20, just under three quarters (73%) of the total 695 victims of offences currently recorded as homicide were male and over a quarter were female (27%).

So no many sons and DH's are actually more likely to be killed in a public place than females, looking at the official figures males are way more likely to be killed in public by a stranger.
Where are a majority of females are people they know.

But don't let that get on the way of it's all men hatered 🙄

Gosh did women really murder all those people.

Oh right, no, they didn’t. Men killed them. So the fact that men also murder men doesn’t really make it sound better.

EightWheelGirl · 13/01/2022 22:45

It always occurs to me that 'not all men' is usually a reply and wouldn't be trotted out if generalisations weren't being made about men.

The people who use tragic cases like this as fuel for their battle of the sexes rhetoric actually do the victims a disservice IMHO by turning what could've been a productive discussion into bickering and a blame game.

Mufasa1118 · 13/01/2022 22:46

I just had a sad thought.

In a planet where there are two types of adults, big (men) and small(women),

Will the big ones always attack the
small ones? Like, no matter what? It's an abuse of size and strength
.but you know how in the animal kingdom , the bigger animals attack the small ones.

I just feel so sad about it. A lot more needs to be done to protect the weak of our world: children, women, elderly

EightWheelGirl · 13/01/2022 22:46

I'll bet there are more male police officers than male murderers!

Please get a grip. If you feel the need to come onto a thread about the violent murder of a young woman and wrong your hands about men possibly being offended by being lumped with other men then that’s a huge problem.

Imagine reading about this horrible incident and feeling the need to post ‘not all men! Men get murdered even more than women! It’s insulting to men to say this!’

Mufasa1118 · 13/01/2022 22:47

I'm honestly trying to think- how can you stop bigger people attacking smaller people.

Men are attacking women on a huge scale. What could possibly stop them? What?

Dottybackorcid · 13/01/2022 22:47

@Kanaloa so are you claiming women do not commit murder then? Intresting.

EightWheelGirl · 13/01/2022 22:48

And why should non violent men care when most of us don't seem to give a shit about them being killed at 3x the rate of us?

Yebbie · 13/01/2022 22:48

It breaks my heart in situations like these to see women jumping to mens defence.

We all have men in our lives that we love. We aren't all man hating extreme feminists. If you can't see the bigger picture here and stand with women then I can't say anything to persuade you otherwise, but it is sad to see. Really bloody sad.

Total lack of logic there. Those men are also killed by men . It's men who do the killing, whether victims are male or female, in 93% of cases

No-one has 'it's all men hatered'. Most of us have men in our lives we adore, sons and partners and fathers. But it does no good pretending that most murders aren't done by men.

Kanaloa · 13/01/2022 22:49
@Kanaloa so are you claiming women do not commit murder then? Intresting.
Yes that’s right. No woman has ever murdered anyone.

Or, more realistically, I was obviously saying violent crimes are overwhelmingly committed by men. Saying ‘women do it too!’ is reductive and pointless. Maybe ask yourself why on a thread about male violence you’re so invested in protecting men.

EightWheelGirl · 13/01/2022 22:50

Imagine reading about this horrible incident and feeling the need to post ‘not all men! Men get murdered even more than women! It’s insulting to men to say this!

It's a shame that people need to say it. Please stop weaponising this poor woman's death to push your agenda.

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 13/01/2022 22:50

@EightWheelGirl
turning what could've been a productive discussion into bickering and a blame game.

You are actually calling male violence against women & girls, "a blame game".
You disgusting misogynist.

My agenda? Are you joking? My agenda of being aware that this type of violence is overwhelmingly a male issue?

If you’re worried about the affects of male violence on men please go and start your own thread about men’s feelings and how you feel it’s unfair that people are suggesting male violence is a male issue.

@Kanaloa Because I care about everyone, not just my own gender and like other sensible people on here are stating if you don't give a shit about innocent men who are more likely to be a victim of murder x3 more likely. Why should they give two shots what women want or feel it's counter productive and your part of the problem.

Was it the man or woman who fought the two knife wielding attackers with their bare hands to defend you? Your other posts are making me wonder if you got it the wrong way round.

This is absolutely disgusting. Clearly you have some deep seated issues.

I’m part of the problem? How on earth are you pushing male violence onto me? I am not part of this problem.

Exactly.

Thankfully 93% of women don't want to be associated with this divisive feminist rhetoric despite believing in equality.

Dottybackorcid · 13/01/2022 23:00

@Kanaloa oh here we go the labeling comes out now. This is how you you get people to back your cause, great 🙄. No wonder men, don't fight your corner and try to stop other men. There either ensuring they don't become a victim their self or just have to take abuse from nutters like you because they were born the wrong sex 🙄
