Fell down the toilet AGAIN

DH is home sick and is getting RIGHT under my feet!?
He does annoying habits things ( as he points out, I do too) but I like to think none of my “habits “ actually cause injury to anyone or the home

I’ve asked him repeatedly, to stop urinating with the toilet seat up, as obviously it’s gross and I sit in it.
He’s a bit of a germaphobe and touching the seat probably gives him the heebeejeebies but this is not reasonable

He argued to the death ,yesterday ‘twas not him that had peed on the seat and he’d “wiped “ it afterwards.Angry

So he’s now lifting the seat, but not putting it bacj down!

TWICE today, I have fell down the loo!
I’m looking after a little baby , and generally running around bananas and a pee is not a luxury! It’s a quick in/out procedure!
So I fell down it this morning and shouted and then the NEXT time I was shouting insert expletives

I know I’m not BU just a moan, really
Surely men should put it back down after? Is this equal rights now? He’s lifts and I close? Sharing is caring ?

Apparently it’s not just rats in our loos, they are RATS THE SIZE OF CATS. And they are seeking vengeance! Vengeance and a paw on the property ladder, the latter to be achieved by driving humans from their homes. After invading via bogs foolishly left open to invading rodent forces.

Apparently toilet rats can hold their breath for 3 minutes & tread water for 3 days.

Plague Island seems an ever-more-fitting epithet really.

Lids down against the rattus norvegicus hordes!

He should be putting the lid down as well as the seat after he's finished. When you flush, the water movement creates a small amount of aerosol which could contain pathogenic bacteria from whatever is in the bowl and this can leave the bowl and settle on anything else close by. If he puts the lid and seat down in one go when he's finished and then washes his hands there will be few germs left.

I had to read the OP a couple of times as I couldn’t work out what all the toilet stuff had to do with your DH being homesick lol 🤣

DillonPanthersTexas · 09/01/2022 18:14

Toilet lid should always be down when you flush anyway..otherwise it sprays everywhere

Do you have the Geneva fountain as a flush mechanism?

These two people live together, so if they're going to catch any germs off each other, they will already have caught them!

Still wondering how a grown woman can actually 'fall down' the loo without looking first (and without a side-dish of overblown drama)...

He closes the lid. You open the lid. Or you close the lid and he opens the lid... why does it have to be all on the bloke?

Its better to be safe than sorry though isn't it.
Imaging the havoc a single rat in your house would cause!

If he's so germphobic that he can't handle touching the seat then explaining how many germs get shot into the air by not putting the lid down when he flushes might just scare him in to always doing that. We've got a lid on ours that goes over the seat at the edge so no one has to touch the seat.

BTW, I have seen some absolutely disgusting fatphobia on here which has really pissed me off. Can everyone just think before they post?

I think you can get too obsessed with "germs" to the extent that it can ruin your life. Anyway, if you clean & disinfect the toilet & seat regularly, there shouldn't be a problem!

I can't imagine a situation where someone would actually have giant rats coming up out of the toilet, biting your bottom, and then running round the house! And even assuming one of these creatures gets into the toilet bowl with the lid closed, it would probably be strong enough to squeeze out from under the lid! If it couldn't get out, then it would be waiting for you to come & open the lid, then jump out at you, which would be even worse!
