Fell down the toilet AGAIN

DH is home sick and is getting RIGHT under my feet!?
He does annoying habits things ( as he points out, I do too) but I like to think none of my “habits “ actually cause injury to anyone or the home

I’ve asked him repeatedly, to stop urinating with the toilet seat up, as obviously it’s gross and I sit in it.
He’s a bit of a germaphobe and touching the seat probably gives him the heebeejeebies but this is not reasonable

He argued to the death ,yesterday ‘twas not him that had peed on the seat and he’d “wiped “ it afterwards.Angry

So he’s now lifting the seat, but not putting it bacj down!

TWICE today, I have fell down the loo!
I’m looking after a little baby , and generally running around bananas and a pee is not a luxury! It’s a quick in/out procedure!
So I fell down it this morning and shouted and then the NEXT time I was shouting insert expletives

I know I’m not BU just a moan, really
Surely men should put it back down after? Is this equal rights now? He’s lifts and I close? Sharing is caring ?

@imnotacelebritygetmeoutofhere

Always close the lid when flushing. Toilets spray out 2 metres. You'll have toilet splashes on your toothbrush and all sorts. Aside from that, it baffles me that men get to adulthood without being able to aim properly.
I've always closed the lid. It stops anything (including but not limited to unobservant humans) falling down it.

And it's easy to criticise men's ability to aim when you've never had to aim, isn't it? Yes, I could sit, but no, I don't want to. I'd rather mop up.

LoveMyPiano · 07/01/2022 23:10

I alays believed that if you leave the lid up/open, your good fortunew ill go down the toilet - especially if the bathroom door is left open as well.

I have always known (don't know how) about the areosols, so would never flush with the lid open anyway. But my toothbrush either lives in the cabinet, or has a cover over it when out and charging.

It isn't really literally "falling in" though, for those who are making the point that they have "never fallen in" - it's that expectation that the seat will be higher (and bigger) than the porcelain edge of the actual toilet. It can be quite disconcerting!

I just think that it looks better overall.... I can neverr quite believe it when I see Estate Agent photos of an open toilet (and a half-roll of paper nearby)!

Nanny0gg · 07/01/2022 23:20

@HalloHello

If he's putting it down for you, are you lifting it up for him? Same difference if you ask me.

Just make it a new rule to always shut the lid. That's our rule and it's nice to always have a closed loo.

No. Because the seat and lid should be down before you flush.

So whoever uses it has to lift up something

k1233 · 07/01/2022 23:30

Maybe try lifting the seat up everytime after you use the loo and wait for him to fall in. Might get the point across.

Oh definitely, in relation to estate agent photos. And always for particularly grotty toilet bowls, hey, let's show this off 🤢 it will definitely tempt buyers 🤢

Why is urinating with the toilet seat up gross?!

Kite22 · 07/01/2022 23:37

How can you fall down the toilet?

I have literally only opened this thread to find this out.
Still don't understand, having read the whole thread.
No, even now I am not fat, and definitely in my younger days was often referred to as skinny.
I can categorically say I have never fallen down into a toilet though Confused

I can't work this out either?

Though the whole thread is just Confused

2020too · 07/01/2022 23:43

When you walk towards to loo, where are your eyes? Confused

Can't you see what the upness/downness is of the seat?

ComDummings · 07/01/2022 23:46

Always always put the lid down. That’s our house rule and works well for both sexes.

As someone has already explained, it's not really falling down or in to it but it FEELS like it because you land lower on the cold porcelain rim when you were expecting to land on the wider/softer/less cold seat. It's horrible. Especially so if it's also wet.

As for why should men put the seat down? Because it's good manners & it looks nicer.

starfishmummy · 07/01/2022 23:59
@wonderstuff oooh that might be the answer!! I was just going to tape up a sign that read “ SEAT!!!!” at his eye level but this is more practical hahahaaa
If you manage to miss a big thing like the loo seat being up, the odds are that he won't be able to see the sign either!! Smile

VelvetChairGirl · 08/01/2022 00:00

You are being unreasonable, why should he bother putting the seat back down when he might be the next one to use it?

you put it down when you use it and he can lift it when he does, thats equal.

or try growing a a bigger bum.

LowlandLucky · 08/01/2022 00:03

You should have to lift the lid and if he stands then he will have to lift the lid and seat. Why on earth don't you close the lid ?

TheHamburgler · 08/01/2022 00:04

The science (yes, apparently there is some) on whether putting the lid down to flush is more hygienic or not is surprisingly mixed.

BitterTits · 08/01/2022 00:04

My arse hasn't been small enough to fall down the loo since I was 3, so congratulations!

GrandmasCat · 08/01/2022 00:06

Take the middle ground… he lifts the seat, you put it down. It is no rocket science, you both will learn quickly.

IamGusFring · 08/01/2022 01:16

Like this ?

BlackeyedSusan · 08/01/2022 01:26

@BeagleBeagled

We have shut toilet lids in our house since I watched Kim and Aggie talking about debris flying out of the toilet when it is flushed.
Me too 🤢
lynntheyresexswappers · 08/01/2022 01:32

Well op you've managed to call everyone who can't understand how you've fallen in fat, or that they have a massive arse. If you were aiming for a comedy thread, you've missed the mark

PixieLaLa · 08/01/2022 02:32

"Clambering out" makes it sound like you're Mrs Pepperpot.

Now that’s funny 😂

Fluenty · 08/01/2022 02:58

Would be mortified at a grown man living in my house that couldn’t pee without pissing on the seat or at least cleaning it up.

What would he do if you just started leaving little puddles on the toilet seat? Or the floor.

jamandmarmaladethesecondcoming · 08/01/2022 04:49

is this you op?

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/01/2022 06:19

Not a very nice attitude to posters. For that I’ve said YABU.

KO81 · 08/01/2022 07:01

Is this whole thread just a stealth boast about being so slim as to fall into a loo?
