Fell down the toilet AGAIN

DH is home sick and is getting RIGHT under my feet!?
He does annoying habits things ( as he points out, I do too) but I like to think none of my “habits “ actually cause injury to anyone or the home

I’ve asked him repeatedly, to stop urinating with the toilet seat up, as obviously it’s gross and I sit in it.
He’s a bit of a germaphobe and touching the seat probably gives him the heebeejeebies but this is not reasonable

He argued to the death ,yesterday ‘twas not him that had peed on the seat and he’d “wiped “ it afterwards.Angry

So he’s now lifting the seat, but not putting it bacj down!

TWICE today, I have fell down the loo!
I’m looking after a little baby , and generally running around bananas and a pee is not a luxury! It’s a quick in/out procedure!
So I fell down it this morning and shouted and then the NEXT time I was shouting insert expletives

I know I’m not BU just a moan, really
Surely men should put it back down after? Is this equal rights now? He’s lifts and I close? Sharing is caring ?

Always close the lid when flushing. Toilets spray out 2 metres. You'll have toilet splashes on your toothbrush and all sorts.
Aside from that, it baffles me that men get to adulthood without being able to aim properly.

starfishmummy · 07/01/2022 22:23

I really don't understand how you don't see that the seat is up. Middle of the night with no light on maybe but not in daylight hours!!

TheRemotePart · 07/01/2022 22:27

@IamGusFring we don’t have pets thankfully!

Unnecessary rudeness @TheRemotePart - can only imagine you're feeling triggered by people not being wildly amused by your attempt at a hilarious thread. Even when alone with 3 under 3 I always managed to go to the toilet, shower, get dressed etc. I guess some people prefer to play the martyr than admit they can't get their act together! Best of luck to you Smile

godmum56 · 07/01/2022 22:28

yup, google flush plume

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 07/01/2022 22:30

Show him the video of how far the wee travels when you don't put the lid down before you flush. Then it's not about the seat, it's about the lid and his toothbrush not getting covered in urine

Coronawireless · 07/01/2022 22:30

@Ijustreallywantacat

If he's putting it down for you, are you lifting it up for him? Same difference if you ask me.

Also this. Struggled and failed to find a good way to put this.

Exactly.

so your ideal toilet situation is DH lifts lid and seat, pees, closes lid and seat ,flushes then lifts lid only leaving seat in place in case you are next on toilet to stop you falling in while you get straight to seat action then close lid to flush.

TheRemotePart · 07/01/2022 22:35

@goingback well if the lid was already down, I’d see that is was down
But have been known to seat on a down lid too, if it’s 4am Grin
It’s a very small en suite: you’re pretty much in the action as soon as you open the door Grin

We have toilets with the flush behind the loo seat when it’s up, so you have to put the lid down to flush, they’re great.

Spongeboob · 07/01/2022 22:39

New rule: close the lid to flush.
Tbf I do get the "falling down" thing. Ex used to leave the seat up, I have an arse like a pancake and never properly looked before I sat because I was watching out for small/moving child. I didn't fall down but it was a disconcerting dip that always made me think "For fucks sake!" Infuriated me every time. Especially as the bastard never cleaned the bathroom so it was only me wiping away the leaky piss bits because it must be way too hard to point a dick in a toilet Hmm
The joy being single for 9 years Grin

TheRemotePart · 07/01/2022 22:40

@wonderstuff oooh that might be the answer!! I was just going to tape up a sign that read “ SEAT!!!!” at his eye level but this is more practical hahahaaa

OP posts:
TheRemotePart · 07/01/2022 22:43

@Spongeboob yes to all of that. I don’t need to be clambering out of the loo once I’ve tipped into it !
Also muttering FFS..

You can ask him to lift the seat, but I don't think you have any more right to arrive at a toilet ready for your use than he does. Why is it better that he lifts the seat than that you put it down (or leave it lifted ready for his use)?

However, this is probably not about toilet seats....

TheRemotePart · 07/01/2022 22:46

@TrophyWinner because he doesnt by sit in puss or fall into it to use it? Hmm

OP posts:
Callipygion · 07/01/2022 22:47

Oh I hate that, it’s usually at night and haven’t bothered putting the light on. you sit down and get a nasty cold shock, falling back further than you anticipate. I also hate sitting on the lid with a bump, when I thought it was up!

TrophyWinner · 07/01/2022 22:47
@TrophyWinner because he doesnt by sit in puss or fall into it to use it? Hmm
But if he lifts the seat neither do you and you're just as able to put it down as he is.

TheRemotePart · 07/01/2022 22:51

@Callipygion urgh!

1forAll74 · 07/01/2022 22:53

Are you extremely skinny, that you can fall down the toilet so easily?

TheRemotePart · 07/01/2022 22:55

@1forAll74 are you very fat,that you haven’t ?

OP posts:
Coronado2 · 07/01/2022 22:56
@Theunamedcat aw bless you! Ouch!

Maybe there’s just a lot of big bummed woman on this thread Grin or more considerate DHs haha
In my case it is both - my bum is too big for me to fall far down a toilet Grin and DH is too considerate to leave the toilet lid up, let alone the seat.

Fallsballs · 07/01/2022 22:58

If I’m not wearing my glasses and in a rush I wouldn’t see a seat that was up. White seat & white porcelain become one. Ex used to do this and it annoyed me. I never totally fell down it but it was a cold shock to my arse.

TheRemotePart · 07/01/2022 22:59

@Coronado2 then you cannot sympathise haha

SoupDragon · 07/01/2022 22:59

"Clambering out" makes it sound like you're Mrs Pepperpot.
